I booked the 9am and got there about 8:25, which gave me time to get oriented/tour facility and do a soak to prep. The reviews were accurate. I glad I was solo, made it easier being comfortable being nude. Lots of amenities to glam up before leaving. It was calm and quiet when I arrived, and got busier as I was leaving. Staff was great, and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. They explained everything and answered questions with a smile. The place was super clean and staff actively removed used towels/swept throughout my stay. A good scrub, felt like a symboloc ritual for shedding the old for the new. I now have baby soft skin!

Otherwise, you'll need to book a service at least a month in advance. It's situated in Japantown. If you're driving, I recommend parking in the garage as street parking is either by permit and limited to two hours. They kindly pushed our scrub time to later since one of our party members was running a bit behind. This is the first Korean place I've been to where they requested you come an hour earlier versus thirty minutes. Seemed like a long time to soak. There's also no clock inside the actual bathing area, so difficult to keep track of time. Also, first time going to a Korean spa where they want it to be absolutely silent. I get that they are going for a relaxed environment, but kind of difficult to just soak for an hour and not chit chat amongst ourselves. The shower/soaking area is on the smaller side and for some reason, they didn't have any stools for the sitting bathing areas available. There's one hot tub, one ice tub, a dry sauna, and steam sauna. This would have been more of a three-star experience for me if not for the scrub. My ahjumma, Lee, was great; very attentive and did a very thorough job! Not mentioned in the list of services, but they also wash your hair and face as well as part of the thirty-minute scrub. After our scrub, we headed upstairs to try out the Himalayan salt room and the red clay room. They had staff cleaning throughout so they definitely take cleanliness seriously. Locker room area has lots of Aveda product toiletries and blow dryers available for after. As we were leaving, they gave a face and eye mask which was much appreciated. I can see this being a go-to place if you live in the city, especially if you prioritize relaxation and cleanliness. Just be sure to make an appointment ahead of time.

The bathroom was dirty and disappointing. The jacuzzi tub was filled with hairs from previous tenants - the jets had a brown build up in them that came off with my disinfecting wipes. The filter for the tub was filled with trapped hairs . The shower caulking was falling down like a shoe lace and brownish. The outside baseboard was BLACK ! It appeared to be attempted white paint over it The window in the bathroom we opened for air was filled with large piles of dead roasted looking bugs . I send over the pix - I was given a partial refund and told the building was aged and working on renovations - also told the housekeeping failed to clean the bathroom area. I was extremely disappointed- was told someone from management would call - they did not. Very disappointing- I saw the black baseboard when I came a month prior - made a comment about it- was assured it was being taken care of - bit white paint is not the way to cover up mold My event was amazing though- food was good and event room was clean! Environment & Ambience: Kabuki has a much wider space, calming music, great ambience, wonderful smells and decor. OnsenSF is a dining space when you enter and spa in the back. Everything looks modern and nice, relaxing environment despite being located in the tenderloin. 3. Hot Tub: Kabuki has a rectangle shaped hot tub as opposed to OnsenSF's square shaped tub. 4. Cold plunge: Kabuki has a cold plunge that's perfect for people who don't need it to be extremely freezing. OnsenSF has a cold shower with many heads in place of a cold plunge. Both are enjoyable experiences 5. Steam Room: Kabuki's steam room is also rectangular as opposed to OnsenSF's square room. Kabuki's steam room also has a shower to rinse off excess salt and sweat before entering the common area. 6. Showers: At Kabuki, there's also a line of stools for the seated handheld showers where you can fill a tub of water and pour it over yourself in addition to the traditional shower stalls, where OnsenSF only has the traditional showers if I recall correctly. 7. Sauna: The sauna was great because you could adjust the heat by moving up the wooden bleachers. There was also plenty of space to stretch out and lie down. There were wooden half-cylinder blocks to place under the neck and back to promote blood flow. My partner's favorite standout was the salt scrub they have that's free to take at the refreshments table. You use it to scrub away dead skin in the shower and steam room. My favorite was the bowl of towels buried in ice cubes that helped me keep a cool head in the hot tub and sauna room. I will say that the thing that makes OnsenSF stand out is their dining pop-ups, but there's plenty of dining options on Fillmore and in Japantown. I would definitely go back to Kabuki again. The experience was incredibly relaxing. Highly recommend.

Possibly the best bathhouse in the Bay Area…read more Kabuki Springs is tucked away off a busy street in Japantown and feels like a portal to another dimension, one full of warm water, a quiet atmosphere, and plenty of lemon ginger tea. I was instantly drawn to how intentional everything feels here, from the dark wood of the sauna to the sleek tile in the showers. It feels carefully crafted to be both modern and timeless, with the Japanese motif flowing through all of the design. Personally, I love the dim lighting in the baths; with no windows, it feels like time is suspended. Is it midday, or midnight? Sunny, stormy? Early, late? You can't really tell when you're there, and that feels like the point. It's an escape in its truest, most relaxing sense. Attendants are constant in the baths, which makes it feel far more luxurious than what the price would suggest. Cucumber, lemon, or plain water are all on tap, as are iced hand towels, salt scrubs for the steam room, and hot lemon ginger tea. I loved how cups are encouraged to be reused (I hate seeing the giant pile of single-use cups in the trash at other spas). I'm holding out hope, however, that traditional green tea may make an appearance in the future! I'd recommend attending on one of the single-gender days, as I found that lent itself best to the fully immersive experience. Shower sandals are available, though I found them a bit uncomfortable. Next time I'll be sure to bring my own. As a bathhouse enthusiast, I cannot recommend this place enough. I can't wait to bring my friends here to learn for themselves just how relaxing and rejuvenating the sauna, steam, soak, and plunge rotation can be.

The specialists here really try to provide you with the best experience possible. They have a variety of people to choose from, and if you don't know who you'd like, they will have recommendations. I highly suggest that when you call into the hot line to ask the customer care to directly transfer you to the store. The staff members at the store is very professional and courteous to meet your needs with empathy and compassion. Time after time, I cannot tell you how much the staff personally takes an interest in my well-being from the moment I walk through those doors, especially the assistant manager (Miranda) and her team. My go to masseuses is Christian. Christian is trained in a variety of pressure and really pays attention to the reaction of your body. Christian's personality is so bubbly that it just makes you feel welcome every time he greets me. Janelle is fantastic with facials, too. She studied as a beautician and checks in on you every step to make sure none of the beauty products being used irritates your skin or you. She's also gentle with your needs and pays attention to the sensitivity of your skin, looking for any reaction if there is any. I had a very disappointing experience at Woodhouse Spa in Walnut Creek…read more We scheduled a couples massage specifically requesting to be in the same room. We arrived on time, checked in, and were escorted back to begin our services. After we had already undressed and were prepared for our massage, we were informed that the appointment could not be accommodated as scheduled because the therapists needed breaks. At no point prior to our arrival were we notified of any staffing adjustments or scheduling conflicts. Instead, we were told, after we were already ready for service, that the massages would have to take place in separate rooms. We were then informed that they were fully booked for the rest of the day and could not reschedule us for the couples experience we originally booked. The only alternative offered was a complimentary guided self experience in the sauna, which was not comparable to what we had reserved. Alexa, the hospitality manager, did apologize and stated that Anna, the spa director, would be contacting us. As of yet, that has not happened. The lack of communication and follow through was extremely frustrating. If therapist breaks were going to interfere with scheduled appointments, we should have been notified before arriving. Being informed only after we were undressed and expecting our couples massage was uncomfortable and unprofessional. This experience reflected a serious lapse in customer service. When a service cannot be delivered as promised, there should be a meaningful effort to correct the situation and ensure the client still receives what they scheduled. I recommend taking your hard earned money somewhere you are valued and not expected to simply accept something different than what you reserved. Anna, After receiving your comment on my previous post, I feel it is important to clarify our position. We shared with you, as customers, exactly what our experience was booking this appointment online through your company's website. Rather than acknowledging how this situation unfolded from the client's perspective, your response focuses on explaining internal policies and procedures. Our frustration is not about therapist breaks or operational logistics. It is about communication. At no point prior to our arrival were we notified that the couples room was not secured. We arrived on time, were escorted back, undressed, and only then informed that the appointment would not be accommodated as expected. That is the core issue. As customers, we can only rely on the booking system provided by your company. If duet services must be reserved by phone and the online system does not guarantee placement in the same room, that process should be made unmistakably clear and proactively confirmed before guests arrive, especially for something as specific as a couples massage. Furthermore, instead of continuing this issue publicly from a policy standpoint, I believe this should be addressed internally within your company to ensure others do not experience the same poor communication and disappointment. Our intention in sharing our review was simply to express our experience honestly and highlight an opportunity for improvement.
