In dire need of a prenatal massage and wanting to ensure that I found a place that was vetted by others, I came across Hadley's Spa. I recognized their name, as they have been a San Leandro/Hayward establishment for years now. I had the most relaxing massage that ensured every knot, pain, and ache was addressed. The massage therapist took extra care to ensure my comfort by giving me extra pillows and checking in on me from time to time throughout the massage. I walked out of there feeling brand new. I've been back since my first visit, and will continue to do so! They have a nice, calming atmosphere in their practice, and parking is available by private lot. It is a little hard to find the first time around as you can drive right past it on Marina Blvd, but they do their best by putting a sign out front to their driveway. read more

First and last time I ever come here. It started off great I found this place they offered a first time discount. Came in loved the massage until the end. We paid $144 for service and paid tip. They have a "suggested tip" $20 each person if you liked the service and 25$ for excellent service. That's outrageous. We already paid the service a tip is not required. She asked why I tipped so little if it was good so I paid a bit more which I was not okay with. You gave me a discount for the first time were you trying to make the money back with the tip? The massage was below average. The majority of the appointment was spent with the therapist standing on me back with a sheet covering my back. There wasn't actually a lot of hands on massaging. The cupping was good. Despite not having a great experience, I still wanted to leave a tip and my masseuse Demanded more money. Went again today for our anniversary last month. Kia and Hayleen did a pretty good job. Great service! I just noticed that last time we were there we were not served with hot tea. They used to do that. The place is pretty small but is clean. I like deep tissue massage but last time I tried their Thai massage since I have been wanting to do that. However, I got so sore and sick the next day which is okay for me since I know that it's just a normal reaction to cleanse out all the toxins from my body. My husband always like soft massage though. I guess I didn't get connected with one of their better masseuses because my massage was not very good. She spent a lot of time rubbing me over the sheet, more than what I think is normal. Then, the massage itself was just a lot of rubbing the same spot over and over. No long strokes, nothing. Just rubbing the same area and very hard. For all new clients, the building is hard to locate because it shares the same parking lot as the Kigawa Sushi and the massage building is behind the suhi building. This would have been helpful when I called to make an appointment. This place was NOT what I was expecting. The only reason I opted to try this place was because of the ratings. I share the same sentiment as those who gave mixed reviews. I spent the first 10mins trying to explain my aches and pain, and I kept getting, "just tell me low, medium or high." Then another lady came in and said she would do the massage because I spoke too much english to the other lady and I needed to just use the simple words, "light or harder." There was NO consultation at all or to discuss where my aches and concerns were. I was told, they are all good and to just relax. While some of the tension was released, it came with a lot of asking and explaining where to focus on the massage. The "therapist" is not formally trained and if you need a RUB down at $85 with a REQUIRED $20 automatic tip - YOU DO NOT GET TO SELECT YOUR OWN TIP - then this place is ok. Hubby and I went to Hadley's for my birthday to get a couple's massage and a facial. I sent a message via Yelp about 2 weeks prior just in case to book an appointment. The owner responded quickly and we were able to get our appointments scheduled. The day of our appointment we arrived about 10-15 minutes early and we were greeted. I forgot her name, but she was super friendly. She asked us if we needed to go use the restroom before starting and afterwards she told us that we can undress and go underneath the blanket. 2 masseuse came in after we were done and waiting, I believe their names are Maggie and Anna. They were so kind and attentive to the areas that we wanted to focus on. We both asked for medium pressure. At first it didn't feel like it was enough pressure, but once she started to work out the kinks on my shoulders, it was just the right amount of pressure. The massage felt amazing! The facial was just as great! We really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely be back again! read more

I usually don't get massages but my back was in a lot of pain recently so I looked up spots nearby. This place had good reviews but I ended up disappointed. The massage was subpar and didn't focus on my lower back as requested. It seemed like there's a set full body routine the massueses go through. I tried to make modifications midway but the person servicing me talked me out of it by saying "everything was connected". She also ran after me for a tip which I gave because I'm very non-confrontational. I wish I hadn't. Also, tip: credit is not accepted, cash and debit only. read more

I appreciated that this place was able to accomodate me on such short notice. The reason why i'm giving 3 stars is because: 1. They take you into the massage room right away without asking your medical issues or any limitations on your body. Im the type of person that really doesnt speak up for myself but it wouldve been appreciated if i were asked if i had any medical conditions like other places. 2. The massage did hurt and i never felt a painful massage. I did speak up about the pain and i did emphasize that i wanted like mild pressure. She was mostly using her elbows and her hands were rough. The positive thing about this experience is that i felt like the tightness on my back got better. My favorite part was the head and shoulder massage. I'm really sad to give this business 2 stars. Several years ago, I would give them 5 but the last 3 times that I've gone, I've gotten unsolicited comments about me gaining weight. All the massage therapists are skilled and that's why I'm giving them 2 stars but the psychological damage that I've experienced from these comments have lead me to overexercise, diet, and have an unhealthy relationship with food. I am writing this as my own psychologist encouraged me to speak up in hopes that no one will ever be bullied into losing weight again. I know that the last 2 years have been really stressful for people especially with the pandemic and not having access to gyms like we did pre-pandemic. Getting these comments about me gaining weight completely reversed the calm I felt during my massage. I thought it was innocent to comment on my weight at the time so I kept going back to give them another chance. Every time I left hoping I would feel better, I felt upset and inadequate in my own skin. I felt especially vulnerable especially when you get a massage you remove your clothes so to be judged and say that you gained weight in front of your significant other is just inappropriate and disrespectful in my opinion. Again, they are great at massage and cupping but I do hope that they will learn from this situation and not make anyone feel this way again. 2 star for ease of booking on the same day and actually using hands to massage. I really wished I listened to the other reviewers who didn't give it 4-5 stars. Here are some of the concerns I had: 1. NO intake form asking you about your health status/condition. If someone had spinal issues, they'd probably get injured. 2. The person who massaged me stood on me majority of the time. I did not request for an Ashiatsu massage. She used her hands probably for 10 min max which was the best part of my session. 3. There was no methodology to her process jumping around to different areas. I asked her to focus on the areas I wanted but she insisted and kept working on my forearms. 4. PLEASE BE AWARE that they will tell you that "minimum tip" is 20%. WTF!?!? You can't force people to pay a "suggested tip". Hadley's-at least have a sign that says "20% required tip". The vibe was great and the massage was perfect. She asked about the pressure and adjusted as needed. I will be back. The prices were affordable, I paid cash and for an hour, I paid $75. I cannot explain how well she took care of me and made sure each area on my back needed to be relieved of the pressure. I constantly am working on the computer. Initial thought of entering this spa, I thought possibly 3 sessions to relief my pressure points but after this first session - I think another session would be suffice... until the next time, Most massage places would focus only on the shoulder mainly and work slightly the rest of the area of the body, not in Elaine case, she thoroughly make sure which spots are more tight and she focuses on the area and moves on - which I appreciate! Here are the reasons why I gave this rating: I requested a massage + cupping, I only had an hour so I couldn't do the full 90 minutes. The massage was great, they use the original cupping method with glass cups and fire, which I love. Now this could be a language barrier but I pointed out the focus areas and how uncomfortable I had been for some time and I still ended up with a full body massage (if I knew this would happen I would have tried to make more time because I needed this) Also, cupping alone is approx 30 minutes, so I basically ended up with a 30 minute massage. So I'm walking out and she asks how my massage was and I say Great!, I pay my $120 and had some cash so I hand her $17 and she points to this sign that says " good = 20%" "Great=25%" Tip. So I hand her $23 and plan to not come back which feels terrible since it's in my neighborhood. If they are this persistent with tips they should just be included in their prices. read more
