Ida was very skilled and her massage was very deliberate focusing on stress points but slowly easing out the knots. This resulted in a massage that was very soothing. I made an appointment same day and was immediately greeted upon arrival. This is always been the experience with the front desk staff here, which is such a nice start to your experience. They have you fill out a form and mark on a diagram where you'd like your massage therapist to focus on and what pressure you'd like. They follow this pretty well and will also take requests during your session. Very good pressure!!! The only downside is that my massage therapist kept the door slightly open which allowed more noise to come in and I was just take aback a bit by the door even being slightly open. Also, the walls are pretty thin so I could hear the guy next to me. They do have music playing which is nice, but the other noises did put a little damper on my experience. I absolutely love the vibe at this spa. From the moment you walk in, the front desk team greets you with a genuine smile, which immediately sets the tone for a relaxing experience. The membership discount is such a great perk and makes it easy to come back regularly. I usually go either by myself for some much needed self care or with a friend, and we book the couples massage. They were quick and fast to see me. I liked the layout of their rooms and it was very spacious inside. I requested to have a facial with acne extractions. Maybe I just like when they tell me which steps they are doing within the facial, but the esthetician didn't speak much. I also don't really have this much acne when I get a facial done, but the extractions were extremely painful and I'm still experiencing scarring from the extractions sadly. Unfortunately I have to update my review to reflect my past few visits. I asked for Gina this time based on other reviews that said she focused well on their problem areas. This was sadly not my experience... I'm not sure what the little paper given at the beginning is supposed to be for, because most of the masseuses seem to treat the areas circled as "don't touch" rather than "focus on." This has happened to me multiple times at My Beauty Spa, where the areas I've asked for have remained untouched (especially the hands. I work with my hands and desperately need hand massage). The only masseuses so far who have given me a good massage here are Anna (no longer listed as an employee) and Linda or Judy (one did my massage and one did my partner's, I cannot remember which). I've now had poor experiences with 3 other masseuses here. I've attached an image -- circled in green are the areas I asked for focus, and circled in orange are the areas I was massaged. I got a 90 minute massage today and of the 90 minutes, about 1-2 minutes total was spent on my hands, less than 10 minutes on my neck/jaw/traps, and the area of glutes I circles was just glided over. I instead got about 30 minutes straight of shoulder blade scraping with elbow, 10 mins per side scraping my outer thighs, 25 mins on calves and feet. About 90% of the massage was done with elbows and knuckles, hardly any finger pressure was done -- I understand this technique is used to avoid hand strain, but it should not be so imbalanced. I can take very deep pressure and this massage hurt me, because she was using bone over bone. You should not use the elbow and forearm bone, or knuckles, to massage over bones and joints. Bone on bone is painful. She also randomly turned on the light and left the room without saying anything, I assume to gather some supplies, but it would be courteous to mention. I left my massage in more pain than when I came in. When I told the receptionist at checkout and showed her what was actually massaged on the map, no resolution was offered. She just turned the checkout screen with the $115 total toward me, and said next time I can just tell them at the front desk again to make sure the masseuse does the circled areas. Isn't that what I already did though? Why did I even fill out the paper at all if you are not giving it to the masseuse to focus on the areas circled? I never saw my paper hung on the door of my room or sitting in the room at all before or after the massage, though other rooms did have papers hung on the door mine did not. I paid in cash as well -- the cash discount was not honored, and no concession was offered for my pain upon leaving or for the complete lack of focus on my problem areas. I'm in a lot of pain now and even more tense than before in the problem areas, and extremely stressed out. I needed this massage desperately due to stress, chronic pain, and burnout. Now I have to wait for what they've done to heal and pay again for someone else to fix me, as I'm so incredibly tense. Whatever she did on my shoulder blades made the pain in my neck and trapezius much worse. I'm really sad and disappointed. I just paid $125 with tip (normally I'd tip more if it was well done) to get worse, essentially. I'm sitting here rubbing my sore neck and shoulders in my car and crying from the stress. This isn't even considering a previous time I came in for massage and the masseuse (Fion) was literally on her phone the first 15 minutes and barely massaging me with one hand. That time, I just walked out because it was so ridiculous. Unfortunately I don't find My Beauty Spa a reliable place for massage anymore which is sad because when Anna was there I would come every other week. read more

I had a great facial with Fion. Just discovered the place on yelp and called maybe 20 minutes prior to arrival to set a spontaneous appointment and they accommodated me quickly and kindly. I got the classic Facial which included cleansing, extractions, scalp, shoulder, and neck massage, serum and mask that had a 10 minute cooling period where she left the room. The room was really clean and music was calming. I appreciate that she kept checking in. Had a nice combination of hot and cold temperatures, with the massage leaning on the side of more quick, efficient movements. My face looks glowing, and I would highly recommend it as a great value. If I had to be picky, it would only be to say that it would be nicer to have the aesthetician wash the materials after my appointment, not during. Since that time many months or perhaps even a year ago, I have become a member to take advantage of the small discount with each session i book. It's a small $50 fee/yr to get $5-10 off per service. I think salon services may be discounted also but I'm not sure since I haven't done my hair here. Anyways the have a good staff that is large that many times you can find a last minute appointment. I've gotten massages here and were good so decided to give a facial try. Bought classic facial since it states: "Cleaning/steaming exfoliation and EXTRACTION, face, neck and shoulder massage, mask and moisture protection..." I told the Wendy, the facial person I mainly want extraction, though, not many. After all was said and done, there was a very long more of neck and shoulder massage and only extraction I got was around my nose, period. Mind you, I came for extraction and facial not a massage, though felt good. After it was finished, I told her I was expecting extraction on my forehead and she said since I got the classic facial and it's only for 60 minutes, w mask, there is no time for the entire face extraction so they only do nose. So next time, do the Sothys facial which is longer (and of course, more expensive.) So.. why doesn't the description say that?? Nose extraction only or partial extraction only.. I have gotten many facials and never ever had this kind of experience where they say extraction but only does nose and does not specifically say that. Nothing against the person who did the facial. She was wonderful. It's just the way it's structured so be warned. If you get a classic facial, you'll get at least 30 mins of massage and little facial. I have become a regular customer here! I prefer deep tissue massages that are borderline painful because of all the tension and knots I get that need kneading (no pun intended). I always ask if Fion is available because she remembers the amount of pressure I prefer and it's great to have a familiar therapist for consistently relaxing massages. If you need cupping or guasha aka body scraping, you can add this on as an extra with your massage, which I've made a habit of doing. The staff are all friendly and greet customers with a smile. Shout out to Tina at the front desk! The location is clean, spacious, and I've never had an issue with my reservations on their website. I was pleased to find a salon that uses Sothys products for its facials, and booked an appointment for Friday after work. The staff is not especially friendly. I was shown to a room and left to get ready. Fion (the tech) was having a very loud conversation with coworkers, which I could hear through the wall and door of the room. Not especially relaxing, and the other staff continued talking loudly the whole time. Fion returned and started the facial. She was using a lot of heavy pressure on my face, and I asked her repeatedly to stop. She would lighten up for a minute, and then go right back to it. I actually had her stop completely a couple of times because it was painful, and not doing anything good for my skin. Same thing with the neck and shoulder massage--she used way too much pressure. I asked her to lighten up, and she said that you have to "attack" the tension. I'm a massage therapist, and I know that's completely wrong--you don't attack, you coax the muscles into relaxing before you start the deep work. I had her end the massage because it was painful and stressful. She went to finish the facial, and yes, once again, too much pressure on my face. So I just had her rinse everything off and end the session. A waste of time and money. I will not be returning for another round of expensive and painful treatment. read more

I booked a last minute appointment on a Monday evening because my shoulders have been extremely tight for weeks. It was an impromptu self care day! I booked a 1 hr body massage and 1 hr foot massage. The receptionist was super friendly and gave me an option to either have both massages in the same room, or have them in separate rooms. She recommended having them in separate rooms because you get to soak your feet in the foot massage room. The massage service was great, you get to indicate on a piece of paper where to focus more on your body during the massage and what pressure you'd like. I didn't get my masseuse's name but she was very friendly and used medium pressure. They use hot stones during the body massage which was great. The massage table was also heated so I wasn't cold during the duration of my massage. My body feels all nice and loosened up now and I will be returning in the future. read more

I called in for a early bird massage and this receptionist booked me immediately. I was in 5 min after the hour and there was no wait to get started. The rooms were nice and felt separated from the others so you feel a bit more relaxed. I give this place four and a half stars! If you're a person who used to wish shampoo time at the beauty salon could go on and on because it felt so good, you totally need to try a scalp treatment at My Beauty Spa. There's a 60 minute treatment for men and a 90 minute treatment for women priced at $125. Imagine lying face up on a table in a dimly lit spa room as soft, meditative music plays. At the head of the table is a sink that has a comfortable head rest. Your session starts with a face, neck and shoulder massage. Then the room begins to fill with one amazing scent after another as your therapist (in my case Fion, whom I highly recommend) applies various shampoos, conditioners and proteins to your hair then takes her time luxuriously massaging them in. She uses both her fingers and an actual head massager, and of course, lots of warm water. There is also an upside down u-shaped metal contraption, on the bottom of which are tiny holes aimed at your head. Warm water streams through the holes as the therapist slowly moves the contraption back and forth to cover your whole scalp. Heaven. I can't wait to go back! The facility was clean with pleasant decor, and staff were cordial. The only reason I am taking off half a star is because some people (myself included) have very sensitive skin. I was not aware at the start of the service that a facial massage would be included. It was lovely, but the moisturizer used had a strong scent, which often means people with sensitive skin may react to it. I am lucky that I didn't react to what was used. It is rare that I don't react to perfumes on my face. My suggestion to My Beauty as a massage therapist and former esthetician is that when people call to schedule this service, let them know that a facial massage will be given and ask them whether or not they have any topical allergies. That gives someone with sensitive skin a chance to either forego the facial massage or arrange to bring in their own facial massage product that works for them. All in all, my experience receiving my very first scalp treatment at My Beauty was stellar and highly enjoyable. I will most definitely return. read more

This is my go-to salon for several reasons. The pros are their easy online booking system (you can schedule an appointment day of), clean facilities and cash only deals. I typically alternate between the 90 min massage and their facial/massage combo. Now for the cons? It's on Park Street and also across from the dispensary. That means parking can be a headache and the dispensary patrons are not the best drivers. Look out when you're crossing the street to get to the spa. Another con is that you sometimes might not get your preferred masseuse if you book late, but if you are open to any masseuse, that shouldn't be a problem. As for the massages itself, I wouldn't say it's the best I've had on the island but for the price and convenience, it's my regular spot. read more
