Avoid: Lack of hygiene, poor service, under construction ---- Many of the reviews here speak to the quality of spa services rather than the hotel. The hotel is in picturesque surroundings but regrettably has abysmal and substandard service for the truly exorbitant price. Problems we encountered include: - the property is under significant and pervasive construction, with related noise starting early in the morning. Paths are muddy and upended, and it's unnavigable at night. - rooms are made up in a perfunctory manner. We had to call twice for various items including towels (none were provided), fire logs for the fireplace (for which we paid extra) and replenishment of the snacks/minibar. Towels eventually arrived in a garbage bag (see photo). Twice in the morning, house staff entered the room without knocking! - the desk workers seem to have a "I only work here attitude." Though the hotel advertises 24/7 room service, there is actually no room service at all. When we asked the front desk worker to at least bring us snacks that should have been provided in the minibar, he suggested that we go to food trucks which are about 2 miles away. He claimed that he doesn't have access to these service items after hours. - woke up in the morning to find that the room staff had replaced the bedding with a blood-stained comforter and bed sheet (see photo) I strongly recommend that you avoid this place. The level of service is far below what is acceptable at this price point, even for Sonoma.

Booked two of the 50min aromatherapy messages, and it was amazing. I treated my sister to a spa day for her birthday and we both enjoyed our day. Staff was very friendly and brought complimentary champagne out to us at the pool. Very clean and the locker room was stocked with hygiene items and towels. I look forward to returning.

    Wine served pool side :)

The Spa at MacArthur Place is heavenly. My mom, sister and I all went up for a much needed spa day and this did not disappoint. We got the 'Spoil Yourself' package which included a 50 minute massage, a 50 minute facial, a spa gift and lunch for $250. Honestly, I think this was a stellar price for the treatments alone. Jill did my facial and she was absolutely wonderful, she did a fantastic job on my face and was very informative! My face felt and looked amazing after, I will definitely be making an appointment with her again. Tracy was my masseuse and she was wonderful as well. I told her my problem areas were my back and shoulders (yay for sitting at a desk all day) and she focused in on that and made me feel so much better. She also was very respectful of me not wanting to chat much, sometimes I feel like masseuses want to talk then whole time when really I just want to zone out and relax. Tracy did a phenomenal job. After we had our treatments we hung out by the pool which was really nice. We were able to order our lunch from the servers walking around and never had to leave our lounge chairs. Food and wine were served right there which was really great! It's a smaller pool but it's also private which is perfect as it's quite and very relaxing. Overall it was an A+ experience and I cannot wait to go back!

Whose birthday is in March?! Even without staying at the hotel, the day pass was worth every penny. Check-in is seamless, and the locker rooms are fully stocked with easy-to-use lockers, plush robes, slippers, and luxurious bath products. It feels indulgent from the start. The amenities are what truly set this place apart. Outside, you can choose between two large heated pools at different temperatures, plus a hot tub tucked away in the far corner for a quieter soak. Inside, there are two additional hot tubs, a spacious sauna, and a steam room. There are showers with a signature scrub, too. If the weather doesn't cooperate, there are plenty of comfortable indoor lounging areas, including dreamy zero-gravity chairs that make it impossible not to relax. Both visits, we treated ourselves to bottle service, which made the day feel extra special. While I didn't order food, the portions looked generous and the pricing felt fair for a luxury resort experience. The staff is exceptionally well-trained, and a few team members truly went above and beyond both times. We brought cash on our second visit to make sure we could tip appropriately. One thing I will say: if you're looking for a QUIET and ultra-peaceful experience, I would avoid Saturdays. The first time we went (a Sunday), it felt very zen. The second visit was on a Saturday, and there were larger groups celebrating birthdays. Some guests were there to party, and it got loud, specifically at the hot top and indoors. Obviously, that's out of the Fairmont's control, but it's something to keep in mind depending on the vibe you're hoping for. There's honestly no better way to spend a winter day, especially when you can follow it up with a meal at El Molino Central right across the street. Note that parking is validated for a set amount of time (then around $3/hour after), which makes it easy and convenient. I love everything about this place. It's the perfect reset during the colder months, and I can't wait to return.

We did get some time cut out of our service which is expected. But I cannot rave enough about their staff and their level of service. Rodney was amazing, welcoming and so friendly. I really needed that. The whole service was great and I felt so at peace. The refreshing snacks are among my favorite and i have experienced spas all over - luxury properties, small businesses, hidden gems. The amenities are also worth it. There is a plunge bath, a jacuzzi, steam room, etc.

How about when you first drive up the winding drive, and glimpse the first take of the stunning main building. I arrived at night, so all the ambience from the lighting, the moon, the glimmer off the fountain in the middle of the courtyard. Immediately was struck. Then I walked in to check in at the front desk - and I couldn't have been more welcoming. I had just made the marathon drive from Pasadena, CA, and was just tired, hungry and looking to get to the room and get to dinner. But the warm faces and kind words instantly washed the road away from me (and to be honest, the perfectly chilled glass of local champagne certainly helped that too!). They ensured everything was right with the room and with the stay and so I headed out to pick up the puppy from the car and settle up to the room. And then... there is the story of the puppy. Out of all the hotels and resorts I've stayed in - nothing NOTHING compares to the dog friendly (while still wholly human centric) service at this Fairmont. They made me feel like Chance was as much a guest there as I was. And all that isn't even to mention the concierge, the perfect cocktails from the bartender, the beautiful winding paths that guide you through the campus, the world class spa and massages (note - make SURE you check out the quiet room, nothing like it I've ever seen), the OUTSTANDING breakfast under the trees next to the pool... I just don't have time to list it all here. But the cherry on top - really is the people. They just... they are the magic that infuses everything in the building, everything in the resort, everything in the spa. They were there for me at every turn and at every moment, for every need. This couldn't possibly have been better - and I honestly can't wait to return.

Our AC was blowing 98 degree air so when we walked into our room upon check in, it was scorching hot. Took forever for someone to answer the phone. Maintenance man arrived within maybe 20-30 minutes. He had the portable unit with him (this is clearly a recurring issue). Supposedly there were no rooms available so our only option was to forfeit our window and ability to open and close our curtains and have this installed. It was loud. And the tubing was taped. The tape popped off on both ends day 2 and was again blowing hot air into our room. Maintenance came back. Added tape. It really killed the relaxing vibe of this place to have a noisy AC unit and multiple visits from maintenance. You can't really enjoy amenities when you're waiting for someone to arrive each day you're there. On the flip side, everyone who helped us was delightful. We interacted with quite a few staff members and everyone was delightful. So if you have to forego privacy, it's nice to have kind people in your room. In total, maintenance came to our room 3 times. Once at check in and twice day 2. We had to ask but we were given a small discount to accomodate the AC unit. It felt a little odd having to ask for a new room, being told no, and then having to ask ourselves if we could have a spa credit or something for the trouble to again be told no but we would be given a small discount on the room at check out. The restaurant was nice, and the grounds themselves are lovely. The bed was comfortable and the spa tub was nice. The room itself felt clean and cozy despite a few broken items. I wanted to love this place simply because it really is a beautiful place but I really feel conflicted on if I'd ever go back. The noisy unit, half my curtains being unable to open/close, warm room was hard to overlook at the end of May.
