My husband and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary here, and we had such a wonderful experience! We both enjoyed relaxation massages, and mine with Dianna was truly exceptional. As a bit of a spa and massage connoisseur, I can easily say she is one of the best massage therapists I've experienced in Northern California. Her technique was excellent, and her bedside manner was absolutely perfect. Dinna also provided incredible customer service throughout our visit. She was so sweet, accommodating, and genuinely seemed to care that we were enjoying every aspect of our experience. We'll 100% be coming back! Let's get this out of the way. The spa is at the opposite end of the hotel from the lobby. Don't confuse it with the unrelated spa near the side parking lot. There's a small lobby and gift shop. The changing rooms are downstairs and there's a waiting room upstairs where the treatment rooms are. The lockers might be slightly confusing - press clear before setting your code. Lou and Julia were our excellent female practitioners. Five stars for them. The massage comes with use of the spa amenities. I was surprised there was a small coed sauna outside by the pool. There's no steam room but there a couple of plunge pools, including one with heated jets. I'll use the spa again the next time I stay at the Lodge. read more

A friend from out of state was visiting and we decided to take a day for pampering and self care- Our massages were absolutely amazing from start to finish. We had the soaking tubs, sauna and pools pretty much to ourselves and the food and bubbly were exactly what we needed. The only negative was as that one Caesar salad, two glasses of bubbly and one shrimp quesadilla was somehow like 220.00??? That seemed excessive and exorbitant. We had vouchers from TravelZoo which gave a pretty decent discount but then the total bill ended up being like $550.00 with the food and drink... the math wasn't mathing so I think they need to work on that. Everything is clean and well maintained. The prices look high but they include gratuity and access to the property. I have appreciated self care & massages for many decades, my disappointment at the Spa are as follows 1- Offered upgrades offered at treatment were what i had considered part of treatment, ex scalp treatment, eye mask 2- Inability to enter tip myself while reviewing cost breakdown was unacceptable, no matter how your system was configured, simply turn screen to client 3- Have never seen a staff charge, let alone @$73 The Spa is a beautiful destination. i usually go to the Fairmont but they only had 60 rather than 90 minutes available at the time, I settled for the 80 minutes at the Spa. To see $336 or so was fine, so imagine how i felt when i ended with a bill of $500. You didn't nickel and dime me, you totally misrepresented the charges read more

Had a deep tissue massage with Melissa and it was absolutely amazing. I'm still dealing with tightness in my neck and shoulder from a bicycle accident a year and a half ago. My 50 minute session was exactly what I needed although 80 mins would have been better. Very mindful massage, communicative about pressure and overall relaxing to work with. Highly recommend. The dry sauna, jacuzzis and spa pool area were all relaxing on a Friday afternoon, less busy then the weekend is my guess. The relaxation lounge is cozy with bed cubbies big enough to comfortably fit two. Pros: Top notch masseuses, relaxing and cozy spa facilities. Cons: I don't live closer. read more

My bff and I booked 60 min massages for a girls' day a few weeks ago. Excellent facilities and massage. It was raining so we couldn't fully take advantage of the outdoor pools. Plenty of parking in the back area and everyone was very nice. Lots of reminder emails and very good communication. Just be aware (as it states in the confirmation emails) that there will be an automatic 20% tip on the bill- no prob since it was clearly stated and I probably would have done that anyways and no math was necessary on my part lol. Would recommend booking early in the day to take full advantage of facilities. read more

My partner was working at an off-site in Sonoma (we live in SF) and booked me a massage here so I would drive up, relax, and then meet her for dinner after work. An hour before the massage there was an accident and traffic started building up and I was going to be late, so I called the spa to let them know. Their response was to say the best they could could was allow us to move the appointment to the next day, otherwise we would be charged in full for the massage. I live in San Francisco, so obviously I cannot cancel work last minute and drive up to Sonoma just for this massage. I offered to come up on the weekend or anytime they had availability in the future. But they declined. They also went so far as to compare themselves to a doctor's office and said that cancelling an appointment with them is like canceling an appointment with a doctor. But, let's remember the doctor doesn't still charge you $230 if you happen to be late and are reasonable for re-scheduling. We weren't being lazy or malicious. Traffic happens in the Bay Area and we were quick to notify the spa. But instead of understanding and simply rescheduling they thought it better to pocket the money, regurgitate boiler plate this is our policy nonsense, and tell us that we should consider their spa services on par with a medical doctor. I'm sure the services here are nice, but clearly they have no customer interest. Their interest is the bottom line, which is money. read more

I loved this place when my partner and I would go before moving away. Mike would give me the BEST massages. If you read this Mike, thank you. My mom said you were very kind towards her. However, I'll never recommend going here. We bought my parents an electric gift certificate last Christmas... for some reason they don't send it to you as stated on their website. I called and the staff said they never email it, but they can hold it for when my parents come. Three weeks later, my parents go for their treatments... the spa didn't have their certificate. After arguing with my parents that "they don't even do gift certificates" someone from the staff found it. Then after finding the gift certificate, the staff told my parents that "it doesn't count toward their purchase." Luckily my mom got them to use the gift certificate rather than her card, but how does a $400 gift certificate not count towards a purchase? Oh... and they refused to give back the remaining balance due to "spa fees." Something totally made up. It's somehow $335 on card, but there's spa fees with a gift certificate? My parents didn't want to tell me for weeks because I RAVED about how much I loved Raindance. It must be new ownership because I would have never sent my parents to them. Leaving this review for my husband for whom I reserved a massage as a birthday gift. We arrived at the Spa at the Lodge a few minutes late (our bad) - our phone navigation told us we had arrived when in fact we were 1/2 minutes away by car. After walking and co, we were in our individual spa rooms 10 mins or so past our appointment time. Our appointments were 50 minutes in length. While I received a facial for 50 minutes (the duration I have booked), my husband got a 35-minute massage (40 tops). His masseuse told him that she cannot honor the full duration because we were a few minutes late. This is unacceptable. The appointment was 50 minutes in length and so they had a 10 minute-buffer for unexpected situations like this. There was zero intent to accommodate. It's even more upsetting because we paid $240 for his service and then a 20% gratuity was added to our invoice, without even being asked. The value of the services we've received was not there especially given the mandatory 20% gratuity which we were not even notified in advance of or given the option to decline/adjust, and my husband's 35 minute-massage. At the end of the appointment, we were told we could use the pool and other outdoor amenities. It was late afternoon and we had dinner plans. We would have appreciated being informed of this in advance. Not that it would have made up 100% for the not so good value of the services received. Overall, I had a good experience with my facial even though part of my service was not provided as I had expected, but our reservations were supposed to be a nice birthday treat for both of us and they fell short - the value wasn't up to par. read more

The shower even has a self serve body scrub service. Incredible. I had a relaxing massage with Alexander and it was just incredible. This is a beautiful spa at Lodge Sonoma. It is tug in the very back of the property so be sure to have a map if you are a first timer. We came after they just recently reopened after Covid. Masks are required during massages but not facial. You do need to wear them pretty much everywhere other than in the shower or during massage. I came here for their Facial + Massage combo option and was pretty happy with both of my treatment. For the facial, they use Babor skin care line from Germany. This is the first time I heard of this brand but the products seem pretty solid and the price they sell these products actually are the same as those sold online so they didnt charge a premium for in-spa prices. My aesthetician wasn't pushy but informative. My aromatherapy massage was also very relaxing. I had the CBD Muscle freeze add-on and that was quite nice especially after a workout! I also got to use their jet jacuzzi right outside the spa. It is outdoors and very tiny. Honestly, it fits about 3 adults in there but luckily there was no one around except me and my friends. So be ready to bring your swimsuit and wait if there are other guests. Will be back! read more

Rain dance spa offers a small oasis near Sonoma. The spa is at the back of the property and has an indoor upstairs co-ed relaxation lounge, women's and men's locker room, a small clothing boutique, products for sale and an outdoor relaxation area that holds two small plugs pools under cover and two hot tubs with no covers. A handful of loungers (20 or less) are positioned around the space in pockets of two or three. The only tables are in the three private cabanas or the single patio table near the doors to the space. You are given sandals at check in and if you are planning to have lunch their, I recommend ordering at check in as lunch can take 45 mins to arrive. If it is you and one other person you could enjoy the space for the day. If you are in a larger group you will either disturb others or feel self conscious with all your chatter. I have been here many times in the past, usually with one girlfriend and always enjoyed myself. They keep the grounds very clean and have great amenities. Pool is heated and there are cloth hand towels to dry, not paper towels. That being said, there's not a lot of inside amenities, just the eucalyptus steam room. The jacuzzi and pool are outside. So I've always gone to enjoy time outside. We usually order lunch ahead of time, do our appointments, then sit outside with our food. That has always worked out well, though the pool menu is limited. On Tuesday, I came with 4 other girlfriends. We took the day off as a treat. Unfortunately they couldn't accommodate 5 services at the same time so we had to separate our appointments, 2/3. It wasn't too bad but the 2 of us with the early appointments had to wait an hour, and it cut into our day quite a bit. All 5 of us were done at 1:30 and we went to check out at 2pm. Believe it or not, it took over 30 minutes to get us checked out. Their credit card machine was down AND they didn't ave a zapper for our SpaFinder certificates so they had to manually enter each one separately. Pretty much ruined the zen we had. And we were starving. It's not a cheap place either. I expect more. I would not do this again with a large group. read more

First time at this spa and used a Travelzoo voucher. It is a beautiful and newly remodeled spa. The staff is lovely and my massage therapist, Eileen is a gifted and skilled professional. We were there to celebrate a birthday but I had a real shoulder/neck muscle issue and Eileen made it so much better. Inclement weather prevented us from fully enjoying the pool and jacuzzi but they have an outdoor sauna that was available. Changing room is small but shower stalls are big. I can recommend this spa and will do to my friends and family in the area. Food is available through their restaurant but there are lots of good choices a few blocks away on the square in town. read more

Recently renovated, this spa at The Lodge Sonoma is delightful. Friendly helpful staff. Booked on a whim and was so happy with the service I chose (Himalayan Hot Stone yess). I recommend my therapist Eileen who gave me one of the best massages of my life. If you like an absolute expert therapist with medium-to-firm pressure, she's the one. The explanation that was given made sense and I could understand but the manager was dismissive and lacked empathy like they wanted to just hurry the process along because nothing was going to change anyways. That was disappointing given that the services/treatments offered are very expensive. It just left a feeling of not being valued as a customer. After researching forever I decided to try out this place for my birthday. My boyfriend and I visited Napa for the weekend of my birthday and I thought that a couple's massage sounded like a perfect way to start off my weekend. Upon arriving I thought that the smell of the area was kind of funny. It literally smelled like manure. I'm sure that it was not the fault of the hotel but a nearby farm or something. From the moment we walked in the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were personally led up to the waiting/relaxing room. It had really nice relaxing couches and chairs. We had Leslie and Blaise as our masseuses. Personally I have never had a massage like this one. They used their elbows a lot which was new, different, and ok. I thought the massage was just ok. I asked at one point for more pressure because I had some serious knots. Although she found my knots right away, she did not apply enough pressure for my liking. Also she had some strange techniques that I was not crazy about. My boyfriend however said it was the best massage he's ever had. So I guess ask for Leslie lol. We really enjoyed the outside spa area. I had asked them upon booking if they had any sort of birthday discount and they said no. I ordered a bottle of champagne and was very nervous when they brought a really nice and expensive bottle out. I was so happy and shocked (and relieved) when they didn't charge us! The overall experience was very nice. The locker room is very nice and functional and they gave us a pass to use the pools and spas another day since we didn't have much time. This spa is on the grounds of the Lodge at Sonoma (Marriott Renaissance Hotel). It is a 2-story building, very nicely furnished and decorated. The ground floor's changing and shower rooms are standard resort style -- clean, tidy and just enough space. The second floor houses the spa rooms (with windows on one side) and waiting/sitting room. The latter is larger than its peers, very plush and comfortably furnished. Dimly lit with fireplaces burning. It is great for relaxing after a massage session. There is also a long and spacious balcony overlooking the seclusive garden and pool/jacuzzi courtyard. The enclosed courtyard is the best facility in the whole spa, though all the other parts are fantastic also. It has lush vegetation (some look tropical) planted in a meandering geometry, providing lots of privacy even within a few feet of space. There are 2 jacuzzi and two small pools, all very nicely designed and built. There are cabanas and shaded benches. Whoever designed and those maintain the courtyard should get an award in my mind. I had the signature Raindance massage ($125 for 50 min). Brenna was very good and she customized her routines according to my tight areas. She also carried a friendly and intelligent conversation. The style is deep tissue but less intense/hurting! I was totally satisfied and rejuvenated afterward. To enjoy the spa to the full extent, we went early before the appointment. Spent about 45 min in the courtyard -- sun-tanning, and dipped in the pool & jacuzzi. After the massage, we relaxed in the sitting room for 20 min, sipping herbal tea with pipe-in music. We could have returned to the the courtyard if not for a dinner appointment. Actually the receptionist gave us a complimentary ticket to return to the spa facility next day. read more

I had a fantastic experience at this spa. I'm pregnant with my first baby and entering my third trimester, and came here for the mama-to-be massage and a day floating in the colder pools. I could not have asked for a better experience; the best massage of my life with Kelly, hours of blissful weightlessness in the gorgeous garden pool, and a delicious lunch brought right to the poolside cabana. My husband was with me and also had an incredible massage with Rose, and we were able to change it to a couples massage when we checked in even though we'd originally booked individual slots. It's also worth noting for mamas-to-be that not every facility has the special pillow or table that allows you to lie face-down for a massage, but the Spa @ Renaissance has this magical pillow and it makes a difference. Other places I've gone to for prenatal massage have had me lie on my side, which is fine and not uncomfortable but doesn't allow the therapist to really get into your back where most of the pain has been (at least for me). I live on the Peninsula but will happily drive up to Sonoma for a day here. I usually go to the Kabuki Spa in SF for massages and a day of soaking, but the prices at Spa @ Renaissance are comparable and they have the colder pool which is safe for pregnancy. I told my OB about this place at my most recent check-up and she asked me for details so she could tell other patients looking for good prenatal relaxation, as it seems like an exceptional facility for expecting moms and the visit clearly did me a world of good. I plan to come back again before baby arrives, and many times after. read more

I really wanted to like this place, the selection of treatments was expansive with lots of options and the product lines they use are fantastic ...however the whole place needs a facelift and the experience was not relaxing. The women's locker room was small and dated. The steam room was not working when I was there which was disappointing. The outdoor hot tub and pool area connected to the spa was a nice feature. My biggest complaint is that they served champagne to guests in the relaxation room which encouraged talking. There was no true relaxation room with quiet anywhere. The quality of the service providers was good but I got the sense they were over-worked and booked back to back. Probably a good place for wedding parties but not so great if you really want a quiet rejuvenating spa experience. Place was too busy, crowded and small for that. read more

So outdated. I saw a cord hanging out by my spa and my door knob broke when we tried to open the doors, had to wait for maintenance. Our blinds were torn up , I'm sure it's amazing to some but it's not worth what we paid. Not to mention the front desk gave us the the wrong time the wine tasting was and shuttle. We missed both. Got charged a parking fee. We didn't even have a car there, all of this wouldn't matter if the day was great. Looked shabby and needed help. The out side spa was so old and shabby .
