Owner/worker there is very rude. I read books. I know how to carefully look at books. I am so…read morerespectful of the books that I don't touch them unless I am interested in it. The guy literally saw me carefully let the book slide out of the sleeve and the guy gave me a lecture on how to do it properly, which is the way I did it, and what not to do. At one point, I had my phone out to see what books I am still looking for and which ones I have and the guy said that I need to put my phone away and use two hands to look at books. I wasn't even touching any books!! I thought this customer service was terrible. I don't need to be lectured how to look at a book when I'm not even touching any of them after he gave me the proper way to take a book out of its sleeve, which I did correctly. Also, the book price on the sleeved book is not the same as what the sign said on top. The sign was more and he said that no prices are written on the books with a book sleeve, which was a complete lie.

Howard prices his books so low that it frustrates him when people try to haggle. Although he did…read moreonce give a price break to an attractive young woman in line ahead of me... on you go, son. I've picked up a ton of great modern firsts there, all of them below market value. It's depressing that the store is almost always empty when I go there. That's the way it is for now, I guess, until the general public believes once again in learning. All in all, this is one of the best used bookstores in the country, not just in NJ. The stock doesn't rotate a great deal, but there are gems to be found everywhere. He's a kind, older gentleman, only takes cash, very knowledgable and accommodating. He has a huge selection of Judaica and NYC history, if either is your thing. There's a weird fish store around the corner. Why people are buying fish in Teaneck...

Barnes & Noble - 'Harry Potter' section? Yes, this B&N has it.

Clean, large, large sized cafe, friendly service at this newish Barnes and Noble. While I like the…read moreidea of supporting a local business instead of a chain, B&N still feels better than an Amazon. When you walk in, you get a good feeling based on the store layout. There's adequate selection and recommendations throughout, as well as sections to browse in and plenty to catch your eye. The departments aren't super distinguished from each other which likely helps to maximize the number of products displayed. The cafe has quite a bit of seating so it's a good place to hang out. I like to look at BN sale sections but this one was rather limited.

We started off walking around together, but split off and got lost walking through the store and checking it all out. The space is massive and has high ceilings. Plus, it's very bright and light inside. All the sections are organized and feature good visual merchandising of new arrivals and/or books on sale. There's a nice cafe area towards the back with ample tables and seating at the back left of the store. Throughout the store, there are also lots of comfortable chairs to sit on if you find interesting reading material that you want to preview or flip through. My husband said it best when he said, "Wow, there's so much to find - you could never get bored here!" I know that we will be back.
