However, many of the teas and spices have a rather strong artificial flavoring despite the ingredients claiming they're all natural. The store is a franchised chain and pricing is on the higher side for teas, spices, herbs, and seasonings. Service felt rather average. The interior is cute with merchandise organized in a logical manner. Personally, I would not return again as I have different tastes in what I'm looking for in teas and spices. Recommend: Yes, literally a Tea with innumerable scents and flavors, cute products and super stylish enclosure. Stopped in because my entire family loves tea, especially with out English background. The variation of teas here are impressive. You can get a good whiff from the main jars before you even purchase them. The shop is quaint, cute, filled with little intricacies surrounding all things kitchen items and even select, local honey. It's a beautifully clash decor of rustic, Americana and old school but well lit, super busy and realistically, very well priced items. Met the owner and was very impressed with our conversation. They have gone the distance to create incredible appeal everywhere you look from shelving to presentation, and in providing items you can't find down the street or in big box stores, and for that, they've kind of cornered the market, here, per se. Mmmmm! The aroma in this tea shop is wonderful! We were greeted by a nice young lady who showed us the various teas and encouraged us to smell the various blends! We were steeped in pleasure as we sampled the different types and our olfactory senses were intrigued. The store was laid out well and super organized. I bought several bags including an earl grey with lavender, a few prickly pear blends, and an interesting hazelnut cookie black tea. Can't wait to try them all! Pampered!! Shopping in Old Town Scottsdale and perusing the stores. It was hot and we thought, hey let's stop in here and get some iced tea. Well, let me tell you, this is more than just "tea". They've got an outstanding variety of both caf and decaf teas. Scattered among the teas were jars and packets of all sorts of spices too! It was actually hard to know which way to look. Cute little accessories, cups and trinkets. They had samples of teas and spices in the back, however the woman serving said she could brew any flavor we wanted. We opted for a combination of Blood Orange and Peach tea! It was refreshing perfection! We even stopped back in for more ice, they gladly provided. We sampled many spices. Back with the tea brewing they offered little sample cups of seasoned popcorn and oyster crackers. The Italian blend they had on the crackers sold me. We've tried it on veggies, pork shops and shrimp. Yummy! The ladies were really helpful, friendly and sweet. They had suggestions for nearly every spice. They also recommended tea flavors for our liking as well. We felt like we had personal shoppers. It was a wonderful experience. Cool layout of the store, loved it there. Great place to get tea. Wide selection. May seem pricey, however, when u compare the actual amount you are getting for the price by weight and the quality of the tea it is reasonable. Everyone in the store is always so nice and accommodating, I have had some lovely chats with the staff. My favorite tea in the Prickly Pear Black Tea. Tastes wonderful hot or iced. Not over flavored or artificial tasting like some flavored teas you may have tried elsewhere. A perfect blend. Try it you'll like it! A true Arizona gem. The only slight issue with the store is that it is in the heart of the touristy area of Old Town Scottsdale, so finding parking anywhere near the store can be a frustration at peak times. I wish they had a couple dedicated grab and go spots out front. P.S. Another thing I love about this place is you can pick out any of their teas and they will brew you a cup which you can get hot or iced to try before you buy. read more

What an incredible sight and array of smells inside. You are immediately greeted with an unfamiliar yet familiar smell. That is because every spice in the world can be found here. They also have a huge selection of floral, black and green teas. They even have a station that sells freshly brewed tea if you want to sample before buying. Despite the impressive selection, the prices are definitely not cheap. There are definitely asian markets that sell what you can get here for significantly cheaper prices but the convenience of it all being in one spot is hard to beat. Almost everything I bought here was quite satisfactory. The teas were clearly fresh and the spices used in my dishes were rewarding. As you know, every curry in the world is a tad bit different. Some places will use more or less turmeric and etc.. The curry I bought here created some of the most delicious chicken curry I've ever made. Right after brunch, my sister and I decided to brave the Arizona summer and walk around old town. I'm glad we did because we stumbled upon this tea store and didn't know how long it's been there. We usually hit up jewelry and clothing stores, never food places other than a sit down spot. Walking in, you can smell all the spices available at your fingertips. I do not drink coffee... I'm a team gal so this store was made just for me! Lol My sister also cannot have caffeine so the really sweet ladies that worked there helped her look for teas that were decaf. She found a mango tea and ask to have an iced tea brewers for her so I followed suit and got an elderberry kind. It took a good 5-10 minutes of waiting around but there were a lot to see. Once the tea was stepped, we took our first few sips and were inlove. We each got a back of the mango and the elderberry to go. This is the cutest spice boutique I have ever experienced. For starters, it smells amazing in here. This spice exchange is located in the heart of Old Town Scottsdale. My fiancé brought my Mom here a few weeks ago & they can not stop talking about the popcorn seasoning. I personally was excited to smell the different tea options. They have so many different spices, seasonings & teas. They also have a lovely barista in the back of the store who will brew your teas on demand. I can not wait to cook with the spices I purchased. My first experience with The Spice & Tea Exchange was at the Sedona location. I loved walking around and looking at all of the wonderful options. Friendly, relaxing atmosphere. I love trying new spices and have fallen in love with the ones I picked up. Time to re-order from their online store since I don't live close to either of the two AZ locations. My top fave spice thus far: Kahuna Garlic Salt Spice Blend Yeah, it's just another garlic salt (LOL), but truly I LOVE this blend and it is different than the many other options I've tried over the years. Went in one weekend last month to get a birthday gift for an important person in my life. Let me start by saying I couldn't believe how much variety was in this place, and the staff were absolutely wonderful. This is a great new shop in Old Town Scottsdale, which I learned just opened two weeks ago. Walking in, the place smelled amazing. They had a big selection of loose teas one wall and an equally large selection of spices.on the opposite wall. I also noticed a variety of salts - Himalayan, flavored salts, sea salts. If you like tea, stop in and be amazed by all the flavors they have. If you like to cook with various seasonings and spices, stop in. I know I'll be back, not only for myself, but to pick up some gifts for friends and family. Today I purchased a small package of Emperor's Chai tea and Coconut Oolong tea, and my husband wanted to try the Pirate's Bite spice blend which we were able to sample in store. Unfortunately I won't return: The younger employees were nice and wanted to be helpful, the "older" woman in the shop was anything but nice and helpful. No one knew the source of any of the herbs. When asked if they had anything organic, I was told everything was, but couldn't be labeled as such because a store can't be organic. Yet as I mentioned above, they knew nothing of the source of the herbs. The older lady didn't even crack a smile as she told me she didn't know much about the herbs. The store is a franchise, therefore, I would go to Penzey's over this because they have WAY more herbs and have some organic options. I'll keep looking for a local, organic herb and spice shop. read more
