Truth be told, I would have never even noticed this place if my boyfriend and I weren't on a diet and staring down the donut store next door to it. We were craving either sweets or alcohol and decided that red wine was the "healthier" cheat. So in we went. It is a cute little shop, pretty small, and very cramped, but the staff impressed me 100%. They know their stuff and I love that he didn't make me feel stupid when I admitted to not knowing a thing about wine. Instead, he just said here you go and enjoy.

I have been a Buster's customers for years. They have the most extensive inventory and the best…read moreprices. When my wife, who does not drink and has only a limited knowledge of alcoholic beverages, asked me what I wanted for Christmas I told her I wanted a bottle of Chartreuse. I had tried to add Chartreuse to my last Buster's delivery, but they were out. Now my wife lives for Christmas and works very hard to be sure everyone has the perfect gift. It was very frustrating for her not to be able secure that elusive green stuff. Trusting Buster's, she asked them if there was a reasonable substitute for Chartreuse and they recommended Dolin Genepy le Chamois. The staff member helping my wife asked her to wait one moment while he checked the stock. He returned with a bottle of Chartreuse from the manager on duty, Lauren, (I suspect from her own stock). As thrilled as I am to get the bottle for my bar, I am so happy to see my wife have her Christmas made more memorable. Buster's staff is the reason I keep coming back. If you are shopping somewhere else, you are missing one of Memphis' best shopping experiences.

Since I happened to be in the area, I decided to drop in to check it out, especially since I had never before been here. An older couple operates this store, and they were both helpful and knowledgeable. The Mr. was far friendlier than the Mrs. The interior of the store is pretty compact, yet they carry quite a variety of inventory. I managed to find a couple of nice, reasonably priced, Italian Pinot Grigio wines for my wife. Unfortunately, they only had three varieties of nonalcoholic beer (all Athletic Brewing Co.). I really liked supporting this small business, and plan on returning. A solid four stars.

We never expected, intended, or planned to buy anything during this visit. However, Bill shared an inside-story about the relationship of Meiomi and Boen wines. So, we bought two bottles of Boen Pinot Noir and opened one for our Sunday Dinner (Red Snapper sautéed with garlic, habaneros, olives, onions, and tomatoes; Yellow (Turmeric) Rice; and Tossed Salad).
