This is a very convenient way to grab coffee and desserts inside of the hotel. I believe that they may have the most business during the Duck Marches that happen twice a day. Memphis, TN. Just on the visuals alone I would recommend coming in here. The beautiful display is quite a show on its own merits. There was one lady working here the night I stopped by and the line was long and slow. She announced that if we were in a hurry, to "Go somewhere else!" She did OK trying to keep the line going but then, of course, someone ordered a latte that brought everything to a halt for five minutes. Eventually help arrived and we got to buy our tiramisu in a chocolate cup. We took it back to our room to eat it. As far as the tiramisu goes, it was quite lovely, it compared to others in the top notch category quite well, even though it was lacking in standout uniqueness. The chocolate cup was mostly decorative. It tasted ok but wasn't high grade chocolate. It was probably the chocolate they must use to create these designs, such as the cups. read more

The desserts here are decorated very nice and detailed. And of course, being The Peabody...some in the ol' duck theme. The taste of flavor of the duck (filled with mousse)....was a winner combination. The white chocolate flavor and texture, worked great with the mousse. If you're in Memphis, you need to go here and see the ducks. We stopped in the deli and dessert place for nice pieces of cheesecake. The food was very delicious and the service was exemplary. They told us we could eat in any of the lounges. We just sat out on some sofas in the lobby and listened to some nice piano music. The lady who served me desert took the trash before I could dispose of it myself. She just saw me sitting there holding an empty box and took care of it for me. They really went above and beyond what is expected. read more

We walked in today at 1:45 pm looking for a lite lunch. We were completely ignored by the 2 young women behind the counter. As we struggled to locate the lunch menu, they continued to ignore us and helped another customer who had walked up to the counter after us. The young woman behind the counter complained that she needed some Alcohol for her various mosquito bites. She still didn't glance in our direction and she never acknowledged our presence. She proceeded to bend down and voraciously scratch the mosquito bites on her ankles. My husband and I looked at each other and said the idea of being served food from someone who had just been voraciously scratching her mosquito bites did not sound appetizing, to say the least! First off I love this place cause you can get free coffee in the morning! FREE coffee. Because the rooms here are small and there really is no place for a coffee maker there. But you can ride the elevator down in your pjs if you don't care about anyone see you in your pjs. Coffee cuts off promptly at 9, but not to worry, just go to the lobby bar and order one of their specialty coffees with adult beverages in them. There's also a case full of beautiful desserts in individual sizes. I had a key lime pie. I was a little disappointed in the taste, but it wasn't spitting out awful and not that expensive either. My son got a duck filled with chocolate mousse. He ate it and bed and said the next morning it looked like the duck pooped in his bed cause it was messy. But good. Chocolate is always good isn't it? The desserts are drop dead beautiful. Was do have one if you get the chance. Otherwise, just drink their "free" coffee ($12 resort fee daily covers this so it isn't really free) Drink lots of coffee to earn that fee. read more

If you know me you know I love a good dessert. So after several months of wanting to go to the Peabody to try their desserts, I finally went today with a friend and left with a big smile on my face. My friend and I like to order and try an array of things. So after staring at all the desserts, we ordered the lemon meringue pie, the chocolate dome and a slice of coconut cake. Now I have never tried lemon meringue pie and it was great. The meringue was sweet but not overpowering, and the pie had a hint of raspberry at the end of it that made it taste so good. The chocolate dome...wow how can I explain this. Okay I know...think heaven in your mouth LOL no seriously it was that good. Not only was it beautiful, it tasted even better. The inside had one layer of chocolate moose, with a second later of vanilla moose and the bottom had like a chocolate wafer like cookie. At least thats what it tasted to me. I am lucky enough to work in the Gould's Salon in the basement of the Peabody, which means I get the pleasure of frequenting this little cafe for lunch, coffee and desserts whenever I feel the need. The sandwiches are a healthy alternative to the abundance of fried and BBQ foods you'll find all over Memphis. They are made fresh while you wait, and they have just about every lunch meat, in addition to tuna and chicken salad. Don't worry about going hungry, these sandwiches could easily feed 2 very hungry peeps. If your appetite strays to the larger side and you find your sandwich hasn't quelled that hunger, you can pick up a daily, fresh made dessert in the case. They have such a HUGE selection, and everything is so gorgeous it will make your mouth water. They offer cookies, cupcakes & cakes, pies, tiny tart-lets with fresh fruits, chocolate covered strawberries and even free-standing duck shaped chocolates. Everything I have tried from that dessert case has been delicious, and has gone straight to my bottom half. Though, I must mention my favorite is the strawberry lemonade cupcake. MMMMMMmmmmm. It is perfectly pink and is sweet, yet has a sour hint of lemonade. Whoever thought to make this into a cupcake gets a virtual high five from me. The coffee- yes the coffee. It is strong, and perfect ordered hot, and black. If you are not a fan of black coffee- although a true coffee lover drinks any coffee black :) - they offer up lattes, mochas, teas and iced coffee concoctions. Decided to swing by here after hearing from word-of-mouth. Decided to start off my day with breakfast that consisted of a medium-roast coffee and a turtle cheesecake. The coffee was nothing out-of-this-world, but still tasty nonetheless. The cheesecake, however, WOW! So rich and creamy. The topping was perfect and there was enough I was able to get some with each bite. Only rating 4/5 due to prices, each pastry/dessert tends to run around $8-ish a piece which is a little steep but worth it to get to try the pastry chef's creations, in my opinion. read more

I was skeptical when I found out the espresso drinks were made from an automated machine, I was suspicious, because it seems lazy for a super-luxurious high-end, nationally-recognized to use an automated espresso machine. But, I was surprisingly pleased at how tasty the iced coffee was. Again, I was a little surprised at how lazy the place was in using a hot coffee cup for my iced mocha, but in an odd way, it worked well. It was well self-contained; the ice doesn't melt quickly; and the flavors seem to mix very well. Twice I'm thinking to myself how stupid something they're doing is, but they work both times. The Peabody Hotel is GORGEOUS! It's worth grabbing a coffee and just wandering through this beautiful location. I enjoyed this greatly. read more

I wanted to review this as a restaurant because I looked all over the area for a deli before I found this little gem in the Peabody Hotel. There is a point when you just can't eat anymore bbq and you just want a healthy sandwich -- when that time comes this is the place. The deli offers several bread selections, Boar's Head meats, a variety of cheeses and fixings. Even the pickle is great. The only thing I was wishing for was an iced coffee, but I ordered a cappuccino and put it in my hotel fridge for an afternoon kick. We ordered the carrot cake, the coconut cake, key lime pie, and the Peabody cheesecake. None of these tasted homemade or fresh. They tasted like they had been sitting in the fridge. Also half of the cakes' height came from the frosting on top and it tasted generic and plain- definitely not homemade. It was that thick, heavy, dense frosting that left an aftertaste that you would find on a pre-packaged cake on clearance a day before the expiration date. Simply the worst pastrami sandwich I remember having. Bread was extremely dry, mustard was French's, the whole thing was a tasteless mess. Convinced that the desserts would be better, I went back for a dessert. The presentation was fantastic, but the interest ended there. What I ended up with was basic, something you could get in any city in the world. What a waste of money and calories. I had never actually gone into the deli (or even knew you could!) until I saw it on Yelp! I knew you could order desserts in the lobby but never really wondered where they came from. I was in the Peabody on Friday and decided to check out the deli and boy was I surprised! It was so cute and I loved seeing all of the different treats in the case. We ordered a red velvet cupcake and took it into the lobby to eat with a drink. Other than being a tad dry it was pretty good. The frosting was the best part. LOVE the sandwiches here. They use Boar's Head meats, and they're cut daily in the restaurant. They've got a variety of meats and cheeses and breads to choose from, and all of the combinations I've tried have been delicious. They also have a selection of Peabody desserts, from cupcakes to cheesecakes to chocolate covered strawberries. I like having lunch there...it's not heavy and is always so good. The staff work alone, so be prepared to wait if it's a busy time of day. But they will definitely serve you up some deliciousness with a smile when you get to them! read more

I order a cake from there every year for a requested birthday cake. It smells wonderful in there and the display case is crammed full of edible art. They are so good about having the requested cake ready and beautifully decorated in the Peabody style. There is some seating but honestly it's a great place to pick up and go with a decadent treat. read more
