Game day crowd plus covered bridge festival crowd equals crazy busy. Visiting we decided to check it out. Saturday afternoon for lunch. The adult Mac& cheese picture won me over and I ordered the $12 meal. Comes with multiple types of cheeses like parmesan, Casio, topped with big bacon crumbles. Paired with garlic toast the helping is enough for three meals for me. Hubby got the burger Fatty Boombalatty. The burger was good, it had ham on top of the beef patty. It tasted good, not blow your mind amazing food here but we got our fill. The waitress was worked crazy due to the crowds and everything took a bit but that's how it goes. read more

Stopped in for a late luncheon a Saturday. First visit so I had to try it out.first impression was interesting as it was fairly busy as we seated ourselves right as someone else got up to leave. I had the big hoogoboom (how ever it was in the menu) with cottage cheese. I grabbed a $2 domestic since the game was on. It was pretty busy so we had a bit of wait for service and our food as we expected. I would pass on the cottage cheese as it was kinda bland. The sandwich was good and had a nice small kickoff spice but not too much to over power the sandwich. I also tried the adult mac and cheese. It was good also. In my opinion nothing we had was excellent or fabulous and I would come back again but to try something different that hopefully gives me that OMG this was good. The bathroom also left a little to be desired so my rating will reflect that. Nothing bad was found but I feel like there are opportunities to improve on this good start. read more

I'm visiting family and they suggested dinner here! It was delicious and worth a visit! Our server Deb was an awesome waitress! One of us ordered the special of the night...ribs, baked potato & side salad. Another ordered the chicken broccoli fettuccine & the beer cheese soup.I had the sirloin steak, mashed potatoes & a side salad. Everything was tasty and came out fast & hot. They give everyone a small loaf of fresh bread with honey butter, which we thought was too sweet, but the bread was yummy! My friend and I stopped in for dinner when we were in Winterset for business today. And I had just about the best burger I've ever had in my life. The meat was good, the burger was beautifully cooked, and the presentation was delicious! I got the Rarebit burger, which was a hamburger patty served on a piece of Texas toast and smothered in queso. Absolutely fabulous! My friend really enjoyed her wedge salad, too. This place is so gross!!! First of all, they sat us next to a cloudy, murky random aquarium. This was NOT appetizing in the least bit. The walls literally were covered in "food spatter." I had to brush off several crumbs and unidentifiable food objects from the booth before I even sat down. I don't think anyone swept under our booth in the past week and to top it off, when I ordered a Dos XX, the waitress looked at me and asked "What's that?" UGH! There aren't many choices here in Winterset but never again will I be so desperate for a night out that I visit this establishment! read more

So I've been going to the different sportspages throughout Iowa for a long time. 6 months ago sportspage was great. Good quality food fair price. Now the food quality at the winterset location is dismal. I ordered the big Mac sticks a few weeks ago. They weren't the same cheap version same price. Tonight I got a chicken alfredo to go. Normally their sauce is so rich and creamy absolutely amazing. Tonight not so much. There's so much water in the sauce the noodles aren't even covered in it like they used to be. 18 dollars for gross food. Really sad how the quality is slipping yet prices keep rising. I wouldn't recommend waisting money for poor quality food. read more

This was once a pretty good place to eat but it has gone way down hill in the last year. We have probably ordered for our last time. I got a burgers and seasoned fries. My burger was decent. The fries were way under cooked and only 1 or 2 fries were seasoned. My husband got a side salad and there were large chunks of the core in it. Those belong in the trash as they are basically inedible. It's incredibly frustrating as we have very few options in town. I wish sports page would get it together. read more

We were seated quickly and the waitress immediately stopped and got our drink orders. We ordered the 76r sandwich and layered nachos. The sandwich was big, flavorful, and the meat was tender. The nachos had a little spice with the beef but they too were good. The prices are reasonable and the atmosphere was what you would expect in a bar. read more

We stop in here from time to time.. i will admit some of the menu items are not so good.. I have tried the french dip, prime rib, bar-b-que ribs, pasta with alfredo, but the burgers are always delicious ! They are always freshly made, char broiled and cooked perfectly. I don't know if this happens to everyone but it takes forever to get seated at this place. I also ordered the waffle fries which are like a dollar extra or something and on my plate came a crusty burger and 7 fries. Like really tho. I was like okay whatever and we got an extra side of fries which were a little bit more expensive, the plate took 10 years to get here and then on the plate came another 5 fries. If you are okay on waiting for 20 plus minutes to be acknowledged by staff this place is just right for you. We were not okay waiting for close to a half hour at our table with servers going past us multiple times. We eventually left after 25 minutes. Management seemed non-existent on the night we came in on. My two girls and I just wanted a good meal for the evening but couldn't even be spared the time to have our order taken. Can't give an adequate review of our food as we were eventually convinced by the hostess busy talking with her friends to go elsewhere. How sad. read more

We had Mother's Day Sunday Brunch here. It's good. Standard Iowa brunch food. Lots of eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy.

Bad service and the food wasn't the best either even by sports bar standards.

I'm not sure how this would get a $$$$ rating. It is average price for the area. Most of the meals are pretty good. I especially like the Fatty Boombalati burger but then I also like the fettuccine too, the spicy one. I can't say I've had a bad meal here and service is just like all other places. If they get really busy the service the service suffers and you never know who didn't show up for work. read more

I wanted to take a minute and write a review for zipps. We just had a HORRIBLE experience at a local restaurant in another town. I spent the whole 20 min drive home crying because of how terrible our waitress made me feel. We have 3 small kids (6, 3, and 1.5). They're messy. Yes. Despite a disaster every time we've left zipps the waitresses have been nothing but kind, nothing but helpful, nothing but sincere every time we've been there. After the experience we just had I think about places like zipps where they truly care about their customers and wanted to thank you for that. As a mom, as a paying customer, as a person, it means the world to people sometimes. The food is above and beyond, the atmosphere is great, the people are wonderful. 5 stars isn't even enough. I asked for a beer with green olives and she put them on a spear with her bare hands and I was instantly turned off. I ordered a wrap that was supposed to be chicken and spinach and artichoke dip (something new for me.... Sounded awesome!) it was chicken and lettuce. The chicken was pre cut cubes of gross. The onion rings were AMAZING. Prices are cheap: you get what you pay for. read more
