They have a wide variety of sandwiches (hogies, deli style, cheesesteaks, chicken cutlets), along with burger and salad options. We opted for a cheesesteak, deli sandwich, and small salad which was the perfect amount of food for two people. My only word of caution is that the Calabrian Ceasar dressing is quite spicy, so use with caution or pick another if you don't like spicy food. The bread, meat, and toppings were all fresh and brought unique flavors that worked very well together. There was a good amount of seating both inside and outside that was clean and well kept. Be sure to check out the daily drink specials too - when we went it was $2 Tecate cans. Will definitely be back!

My favorite sandwich is the dagwood with turkey. The cheesesteak was also pretty good. Unfortunately the dagwood recently stopped featuring avocado and now is replaced by pesto so I will be looking for a new favorite soon. The sandwiches are great, prices are fair, and food always comes out quick. Both inside and outside seating is always nice and clean and the servers are friendly. I wish their bread was softer sometimes but I love the options they have. There's definitely something for everybody!

The service was great, and they even made the best recommendations for drinks. I like Matcha, but I'm hesitant if I don't make it. The Matcha Lemonade she recommended was perfect. Flaky croissant twist with savory sweet cream and sweet fresh strawberries in the middle. Only con would be to have a more filling of the cream and strawberries compared to the croissant twist. But still good to have as a quick breakfast or snack for later. I also got the chicken sandwich too! Would highly recommend that. You get a fried chicken cutlet topped with melted American cheese, on a bed of shredded lettuce and cucumber. It came out piping hot. It was crispy, crunchy, savory, but with the fresh veggies it gave it a slight freshness to it as well. It was well balanced. Ambiance: it's a great brunch place and quiet for just doing some work as well. I wouldn't say it's a study place or office/bookish place as it is a bit echo-y and the seating is not soft and comfy. But for a quick bite and brunch during a work lunch break, this is your spot. Maybe a great place for first casual day date! Lol Service: everyone was friendly and service was quick. You order and the counter, they give you a number and bring your food to you. Overall no problems or concerns! Overall I would go there again if I'm in the area. The location is a bit out of my way and can be difficult to navigate if it's your first time. The roads rear off to another many times. So be sure to keep and eye on the road and the signs. The hours of operation was a bit hard for me as I tried to get there before my work at 8am but they don't open till 8am and then they close right before business hours end as well so had to get there before 3pm too. So I can see why they may be a quiet place most of the time. But if you get there and go the food and drinks are good.

And parking is not the easiest, you will likely find yourself in the Harris Teeter garage. But the wait is worth it. As a NJ native and something of a sandwich aficionado, I have a rather discerning taste for a good sub sandwich. So upon a friend's recommendation, I went with the classic Italian. It came with prosciutto, hot capicola, genoa salami, and sharp provolone cheese. Note to everyone: Go for the sharp provolone, not mild! The first thing I want to say about this sub/hoagie is major props for the bread. It was crusty with sesame seeds on the outside, pillow soft inside. About the only thing I would wish is that it was semolina bread. Outside of that, kudos for the bread. Plenty of meat on the sandwich, which is key. I HATE HATE HATE when I order a sub and they give me something like three or four slices of meat. Not gonna name names...but that's not an issue at PH. I really like the grab and go options for various food items like long hot peppers, broccoli rabe, pickle chips, and dirt pudding. Excellent addition. I'm taking a star off since they only offer bottled drinks, you can't get free refills. No brewed iced tea, that's only available in bottles too. I'll at least forgive them for having Pepsi products since that's a Philly tradition. I'll definitely return to try their Italian tuna, chicken cutlet, and roast pork options.

At $21+ for the simple lunch I might come back sometime but clearly not on a regular basis.

After 40 years of marriage, we've learned that a memorable lunch is often better than an expensive dinner. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to write our reviews the same day. Lunch for two came to about $45 plus tax and tip, and included: * Bánh Mì * Shrimp Tacos * House Lemonade * Key Lime Pie Location & Atmosphere SmokeStack Cafe is located in Raleigh's historic Oakwood neighborhood in a beautifully restored former grocery store. The setting is full of charm, both inside and out. There is outdoor seating available, but we chose to sit indoors where the space is open, comfortable, and inviting. Parking is street parking only. On our Juneteenth lunch visit, finding a space was easy, though I suspect many neighborhood residents simply walk over. The Food The Bánh Mì was outstanding. The bread was a true French baguette, fresh, crisp, and clearly high quality. The sandwich was generously filled with flavorful pork, more than we have received at most places serving bánh mì. It came with a large portion of well-seasoned French fries. The Shrimp Tacos featured three tacos on corn tortillas. The shrimp portion was generous, and the accompanying sauce added plenty of flavor without overwhelming the seafood. The House Lemonade was tart, refreshing, and exactly what I wanted on a warm afternoon. For dessert, we shared a slice of house-made Key Lime Pie. It was a generous serving with a bright, tangy lime flavor and a graham cracker crust that had a subtle hint of cinnamon. A wonderful finish to the meal. Service Service was warm, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout our visit. In a fun personal touch, our server told us he had made the key lime pie himself Overall What impressed me most was how diverse and eclectic the menu is. The food felt thoughtful and well executed, the setting was charming, and the service was first-rate. SmokeStack Cafe delivered exactly the kind of memorable lunch we hoped for on our anniversary, and we're already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu.

We called ahead to see if they were busy and get an idea of their wait times as we needed to have a quick lunch. Everything made to order, freshly cooked. Deep built-up flavors, the kind of cooking that takes hours to prepare. You could feel the love that went into this food. We will absolutely be back We shared a braised beef sandwich and an oxtail soup. I'm salivating writing this review, I can't give it enough praises. You must try it. So excited to go back and try the rest of the menu.. This place is a foodie dream!
