I couldn't figure out why our underground lawn drip system stopped working in one part of our back yard, so I called Sprinkler Tech. In addition to the back yard problem, I had a number of smaller repairs needed in our traditional front-yard system. After taking a look, the guy who came out concluded that the 7 year-old system was at the end of its useful life, hopelessly plugged up by grass roots and that the only option was to replace the entire system and re-sod the entire back yard, a job which his boss would send me an estimate for. After that, I couldn't even get him to take a look at the repairs I needed in the front yard as he quickly left. After hand watering it for several months, I decided to take a closer look and realized that there was a puddle developing upstream of the problem area whenever the system came on. I spent about 30 minutes digging up that section where I found a hole in the line that caused a loss of pressure in the remainder of that line. I repaired the hole myself in less than an hour at a cost of $1.47 for a repair coupler at Home Depot. The system now works great again, and I was also able to make my own repairs to the front yard system that he wasn't interested in even looking at. I can't comment on how good their work is, but I'm not at all impressed with their ability to troubleshoot a problem or follow-through. read more

Since this was a bigger job than I could DIY and Sprinkler Tech finally responded, I set up an appointment for an estimate. Tech came on time; he was here for 10 minutes, worked for 5, and instead of giving me an estimate just fixed the break. Which was great - until I got the bill, three days later. $95 for 10 minutes of work. Have used them a couple times and didn't have a problem until just last week. I texted them about an issue. I was having, they answered the text and made a time to come out quickly and address it. They changed one part and we tested one of the zones for the sprinkler and it worked. We didn't test the other three zones while they were there. Once they left, I tested the other zones and none of the other sprinklers were working. Still not working. Two minutes later I texted the company asking to send the techs back out to finish fixing the whole problem not just one zone. And it's now three days later, and I have yet to hear back anything from sprinkler tech. Called about 5 sprinkler guys from Yelp. These were the cheapest by a nice margin and they diodnt try to upsell you on everything (several insisted we had to change our entire system for upto $8k!!!!). Sprinkler Tech is not what it used to be. A one crew company that got too busy and work quality started to go down the drain. I am cancelled this company as my go to. Tired of excuses the main one being Carlos booking you and then get a bigger job and people not wanting to wait, he'll call you and say sorry he double booked you. Once twice three time and you start to realize ok this guy is just lying to your face. Don't they have a calendar. Lies lies lies. Carlos would say yes when he comes to your house and you ask him what you need to be done but BE CAREFUL if its not on contract and precisely detailed he won't commit to it. I called Carlos to see if he would come out and review my current (very old) sprinkler system that was not working. He was very accommodating and we organised a mutually agreeable time for him to evaluate. He arrived on time and was very personable and we discussed the potential options. As my system was over 35+ years old and was all galvanised he advised he could try and just replace the heads, but problems would probably keep coming up due to the pipes probably being rusted and the out of date valves. However, he left the decision ENTIRELY up to me and did not try and persuade me either way. He would give me a quote for replacing the heads and also the entire system. While he was here he also reviewed the sprinkler control system (which he said was in good working order) as well as my rear garden sprinklers which again he said were fine and did not need any work. Carlos sent me a quote as discussed and I must say I was very surprised at the price. I had 2 other companies come out to review my job and his price came in at over HALF the price of others! I guess I was slightly sceptical, but after reading other reviews and meeting Carlos in person I felt comfortable in moving forward with him. His crew turned up on the day agreed and worked very hard in 95 degree heat - It looked exhausting just watching them! They were also very personable and checked to ensure everything they did was what I required. After installation they ran through the control system with me to make sure timings and stations were all correct. They also checked ALL my rear garden sprinklers to make sure they were aligned and sprayed correctly. They even replaced 2 without charge as they were not spraying as they should. The invoice I received was EXACTLY as the quote sent to me originally NO EXTRAS. I was expecting a little more as there were a couple of additional sprinkler heads were installed, but no - Carlos stuck to his quote. More importantly, ALL his work is covered by a 12 month guarantee. Since the installation, the pressure on my front flower bed has been a little too powerful, so after calling Carlos and asking his advice he said he would send his crew out to install a pressure control valve and also move the pipes along the back of the flower bed so the sprinklers spray away from the house. The only negative for me, and it's a slight one, is that the appointment times seem to be suggestions more than absolutes. My initial 'diagnosis' appointment was from 8-10; Carlos arrived shortly after 10, but I rushed to be ready by 8:00. The actual repairs were scheduled between 7-8; the technicians arrived at 8:30. Again, not a huge crisis, but an hour and a half after I rushed to make sure I was presentable at 7:00am. Where to begin... 1 Showed up two hours late to give me an estimate. 2 I asked for a quote on a sprinkler tuneup and installation of three drip lines. Carlos gave me a verbal quote in person and said he would follow up with an email tomorrow. Received the email a week and a half later. 3 Changed the work appointment twice. 4 The guys said they were only able to install two of the three drip lines we had agreed to. 5 Received a bill for the full price. When I inquired, he said to look closely at the written quote because it was only for two drips (not the three I had specifically asked for and we had discussed at length and he had given me the exact same number for). After some back-and-forth, I went ahead and paid in full. 6 Three weeks later about eight drips were broken. 7 Told Carlos about the broken parts, he said they would come the next day between 8-11am to repair. 8 Guys showed up at 2pm--3 hours late. 9 Four drips still broken. 10 Hired a new company to redo all the work. 3.5 Stars No matter where I seem to live, the sprinkler system I'm left with seems to be so sub-par that I have had many experiences with many sprinkler repair folks that I'm almost qualified to fix them myself! I got in touch with Carlos to give an estimate to fix some issues with the sprinkler system around my property. Water pressure was super low and there were some heads that need replacing and drip irrigation to tend to, etc. I received a prompt reply from Carlos who toured the property with my wife and gave us an estimate I felt was kind of high, but hey, maybe there's a lot of labor involved. After renegotiating the numbers a bit (not as low as I would have liked) Carlos let me know it would be a couple weeks before he could send some guys out. I suggest calling them a day or two before the repair date as the day they were scheduled to come, no one showed up. I had re-arranged some meetings at work to make sure someone was home so that was a bit annoying. I called and asked if anyone was coming and Carlos said likely not today, but tomorrow. Okay. Sure enough, they arrived the next day while my wife was at home and within less than an hour, all of their work was complete. I felt the pricing they gave (several hundred dollars) was was over estimated as labor couldn't have been much and anyone who spends anytime on sprinkler issues knows that parts are super cheap as well. Though when it comes to the sprinklers working now, I can honestly say, I finally feel like my yard is being properly watered. The grass is so green and all my plants are thriving despite the summer heat. So in the end... I'm glad I went with Sprinkler Tech and will use them again. I recently purchased a new house, and looking for someone to get my sprinkler's done was one of my top priorities because the previous owners did not take good care of their lawn. Looking to yelp for good reviews, I turned to the Sprinkler techs. With high hopes and expectations, I agreed to let them do my sprinklers. At first, they came on time, working very hard, and were very professional.. but as the day went on, they left without telling me a word, and worse of all, they did not finish their job. They promised to come back the next day, but came later than promised. Ontop of that, when they were 'done' with their job, it STILL did not work. I thought probably it was my issue.. so I kept trying to figure things out, however, still, NOTHING was working. I contacted them a couple of time.. it was non-responsive. I had to use another phone number to contact them for them to pick up. I was really pushy with them to come ASAP to check this out, because I did not want to pay over 700 dollars and not have my sprinklers work.. so they came the next day, and now everything is okay. I was referred to Hammer - they charged me $150 just for an estimate (did not tell me ahead of time) and said I had 2 days to apply it to the very expensive job (hurry-up is such a red flag). This review is base on estimate that i was given over the phone. I needed to get pressure regulator to be put on my irrigation line. I was told it would be $525(cost/labor). I have a feeling it would been higher once they seen the amount of labor it would have involved. They couldn't even come out and give me written estimate until next week which was about 5 days after i called them. I was able to get licensed plumber to come out next day and charge me $193 for labor and $222 for part. The Sprinkler tech prices are too high considering that there are other plumbers that will do it for significantly less amount. read more
