When we moved into our house the backyard hill was an absolute mess. The previous owners did not take care of it at all and I knew it was going to be a monumental task to clean it out. I got a total of four quotes to remediate the issue. The job comprised of removing some small trees, a ton of brush, tons of Jade and old trees that were cut down. The first job that they did for us about 4 years ago was just so fantastic that we had to have them back to work on some other trees on our property. I can not say enough about the professional way in which they handled our jobs. We had a GREAT deal of work for these guys, some really overgrown TALL trees and also tree & stump removal. All of the workers were polite, focused, and really skilled craftsmen. Seeing three of them up in the massive tree in our front yard firing up their chainsaws and hacking down limbs in tandem was truly a sight to behold. He came out the day after I called him and quoted me on a very large street tree (Camphor) that was long overdue for trimming. Highly recommended! They were awesome. Not only did they care for the property around the tree they were removing, but they also cleaned up after AND removed all debris (instead of filling my cans). They quickly chainsawed down the branches in easy-to-manage segments, making sure each one dropped to the ground precisely where they wanted it to (not into our pool, for example... or onto our bushes). when it came time to use the Stump Grinder, they put up sheets of plywood around their work area to minimize the wood chips going everywhere. When the job was finished, they removed all branches and, between rake and leaf blower, cleaned up all traces of their visit. read more

I was told the job to remove two trees and trim a large palm would take 2 hours, and that they'd show up at 7:30am. They showed up at 7:00am and we're done by 8:00am! There was a crew of 5 men and not only were they super fast, but very clean too. They even put up a board to protect our garage door from any flying pieces dinging it. We received glowing recommendations for two tree services in the area and had a hard time deciding which one to choose. Valley Green Tree Services was definitely the best choice! We've had bad luck in the past and, after 20 years with the beautiful trees on our property, we've been hesitant to ever have them trimmed again. Wow this company did a great job! We had two Cyprus trees removed, it was a delicate situation because they were surrounded by Plumeria plants that we didn't want damaged. CARELESS, RUDE, AND DANGEROUS COMPANY. Earlier in December while trimming a large tree they allowed a huge branch to fall into my front window. They had been allowing the limbs to drop instead of lowering them down carefully. Some of the limbs were so large they shook the house when they hit the ground. I was very understanding that day because i know accidents happen even though i was injured and my home was damaged. I had been standing in the kitchen and the limb hit with such force that it sent glass flying, pelting my head and wrist. Thankfully my 16 month old was off the ground in a highchair and not in the way of the flying glass. I worked with Oswaldo, who was very kind and even offered to drive me to the hospital, which wasn't necessary. They filed a claim with their insurance company- then it was up to me to fix the remaining issues. I spent HOURS calling window companies and contractors trying to find a matching window. I had to setup multiple appointments to meet with these people for measurements and finally their insurance adjuster. I had to then pay a grand out of my pocket to pay for the window upfront. I was finally mailed a check which barely covered the cost of the window; by the way its been over a month and the window is still not installed yet. JUST WHEN I THOUGHT IT WAS OVER- the owner of the company showed up at my doorstep asking to take a picture of the window. I asked why since I had just gotten the check a day before and thought the claim was closed. He was irate that his insurance company had charged him so much to file the claim ***I noted that I had called Oswaldo and left a message telling him the price of the window and giving him the opportunity to pay cash for it and I heard nothing. HE ACTUALLY WANTED ME TO GIVE HIM THE FEW DOLLARS EXTRA FROM THE INSURANCE CHECK THAT I HAD RECEIVED. I brought up that I deserved a discount instead for all the headache i've gone through the last month- his reply "you haven't paid your bill yet? you better do that or we charge 20% more" SERIOUSLY does this man not care about his reputation or doing the right thing??? I've been calm during this whole process and was still when I shut the door in his face. Had three high-Yelp-rated tree services come by and give me an estimate, and J & A was the cheapest. But perhaps you get what you pay for. The largest issue I had with them is that they substantially cut back a nearby tree without consulting me. They hadn't mentioned needing to cut this other tree in the estimate (no company had), and I wasn't asked about it (I was home all day) before hand. I watched them work for awhile, went inside, and when I came back it was cut. This tree they cut completely shaded our back porch sitting area, which is now nearly fully exposed to the morning/afternoon sun. I had to build a shade structure, which is helpful, but no where near as shade providing as the tree I did not ask them to cut had been. If that had been the only thing they did poorly, I would have given them more stars, but the list of little mistakes they made is too much to bore you with, though here are a few: left garbage (water bottles, papers, etc), clumsily tarped over my pond killing many of the fish (though luckily none of the big ones), scratched up two side-fences to the extent that they'll need to be repainted, failed to properly put all of our stuff back or clean up well, left a mess of sawdust in my neighbor's yard...etc - just a slew of little unprofessional things like that. If I'm paying 2k for a job, it should be done well. Definitely would not recommend, despite the price. read more

I called them a few days later and they were very friendly and scheduled a consultation very quickly. The consult guy came a few minutes early and gave me an estimate in a few minutes. He gave me a job estimate of 3 hours to cut 5 trees of various sizes. The office called me back a few minutes after he left to schedule my service. The tree removal guys came on time and were done in 45 minutes! They took away all my dead leaves when they didn't need to. They had this crazy machine to kill the roots a few feet down. They accidentally cut into my sprinkler line and pointed it out to me. They fixed it in a few minutes and I appreciated their honesty instead of hiding the broken line. The clean up job could have been better. The estimator said 2 hours, but these guys were in a real rush. With 6 guys working together they finished in 1 hour, used a gas blower to sprinkle saw dust all over the yard, thereby "cleaning- up" the concentrated areas. They just dispersed it all over the place. They also left some branches that fell over to the neighbors side, which they had access to pickup. So, I go a complaint from the neighbor and went to pick it up myself The actual tree cutting part of it was good. They took care not to damage a newly planted fruit tree. read more

The fact that they were able to fit me in the same day (yesterday) was a plus, given all the other projects I've got going on at the house. The workers showed up as scheduled, and actually LISTENED to the fact that, while I wanted certain bushes removed, I also insisted on them leaving my shrimp plant and lemon tree alone!
