If you told me I'd find some of the best seafood of my life in landlocked Southern Vermont, I…read moreprobably wouldn't have believed you--but Anchor Seafood House & Grille is the real deal. This place has been a Wilmington staple since 1997, and you can tell they've spent the last nearly 30 years perfecting the craft. The atmosphere is incredible. While the original 1850s building was lost to a fire in 2010, the current space is a beautiful, faithful replica that feels historic and cozy. It's the perfect spot for a post-ski dinner or a summer night out. Here's the breakdown of what you need to order: The Chowder: This is proper New England clam chowder. It's thick, rich, and loaded with clams--not just a bowl of potatoes and heavy cream. It's the ultimate comfort food. Steamers: You have to start with the steamers. They are clean, sweet, and served the traditional way with a side of broth and drawn butter. It's a messy, delicious classic that they do perfectly here. Whole Belly Clams: These are the gold standard. They're lightly breaded, perfectly fried, and have that sweet, briny pop you usually only find at a roadside shack on the Maine coast. If you're a fan of "the bellies," don't skip these. The Lobster: I went for the steamed lobster, and it was impeccable. Succulent chunks of fresh meat and just the right amount of butter. It tasted like it was caught that morning. It's rare to find a spot that balances a "fancy night out" feel with such unpretentious, high-quality food. Whether you're a local or just passing through for the foliage, make sure you stop here.

It was off-season in the area so many places haven't been busy. Luckily they asked if we were okay with the bar. Most definitely okay with the bar! We actually got pretty good attention when sitting at the bar. I ordered the Broiled Seafood Sampler because I like seafood and anytime I can get a variety in a dish, I'll go for that. The sampler consisted of haddock, salmon, scallops, and shrimp. The dish contained plenty of the fish and only two pieces each of the scallops and shrimp. The dish was not what I was expecting because of the crumb topping and creamy sauce. It was fine. We definitely got a good portion and the linguine with garlic and oil was fantastic! It was definitely garlicky, just the way I like it.

It's finally here! Since Last Chair opened its doors in December 2018, the buzz around Mount Snow…read morehas been real. We stopped in during their opening month to see if it lived up to the hype, and it's safe to say this is exactly what the valley needed. The Atmosphere The first thing you notice is the arcade. It's a total game-changer if you have kids (or if you're just a competitive adult). It keeps the vibe lively without feeling like a chaotic playground, and it's a great way to kill time while waiting for a table or hanging out after a day on the slopes. The Food We sampled a bit of everything, and for a brand-new kitchen, they are already hitting their stride: The Wings: These were the standout. Crispy skin, juicy interior, and the sauces actually have some personality. Definitely get an order for the table. Roasted Chicken: This is the ultimate comfort dish. It was perfectly seasoned and felt like a high-end home-cooked meal. If you want something hearty but not "pub heavy," this is the move. Tenderloin Sandwich: Wow. The steak was incredibly tender (as promised) and served on a fresh roll that didn't fall apart. It's a massive step up from your standard steak sandwich.

I managed to get us a table within a 10 minute wait thankfully. Our group of 4 was seated and we started with drinks and appetizers. My go to is an Aperol spritz and here it is a huge glass! For appetizers we started with a burrata, fire roasted meatballs, and the nachos to share. The burrata was delicious and paired perfectly with pesto and tomatoes. All you needed to do was add salt. The fire roasted meatballs were okay I definitely wouldn't order them again. The nachos are an absolute must as a share. They came out on a giant pizza tray and we add chili for extra protein! I was impressed our party was able to eat everything. Next we ordered our main courses. I ordered the baby beet salad which was nice and light with goat cheese pecans and beets which I absolutely love. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef Reuben which was delicious. His only complaint were his fries came out ice cold somehow but the sandwich was hot. The rest of our party orders buffalo chicken wings which were moist and had a nice spicy kick. For the amount of food and drinks we ordered our bill was around $200 with tip which was very reasonable being so close to Mount snow. Parking gets packed easily and we had two cars waiting for my spot by the time we left. I highly recommend the last chair for après ski. They even have this cool arcade for kids and adults next door.
