But why sit down, when you can jam to decent covers of everything from "Sweet Caroline" to Ceelo's "F You"? The band (Groove Line, I believe) even gets into the act dancing with the crowd!

Ocean Boulevard, which is where I was staying,at a friends apartment, to capture the Friday evening "Jazz On the Square" concert series at Pelican Square in Lauderdale By The Sea. Since my first vists to the Lauderdale By The Sea area in October 2005 the Anglin Beach Pier Village at Lauderdale By The Sea which some refer to as "The Village" is one of my favorite beach villages. As well as Deerfield and Hollywood beaches as opposed to the 'Lauderdale Beach' aliong Atlantic Boulevard. Having frequented Muscle Beach in South Beach for the Winter Party Festival one two occasions if I had my choice of beaches I think it would be Hollywood, Deerfield and Lauderdale By The Sea. In that order. As I entered Pelican Square which is just yards from the Anglin Pier / Beach on Friday evening, 7 March 2008, I remembered that my friend who lives in the Hampton Beach Club had told me that the band that he saw last spring was a blues band and that he 'throughly enjoyed watching the women dancing together'. While the band played on. So, as I entered from Ocean Boulevard, along Commerical Boulevard, en route to Pelican Square at El Mar Drive, and as a soulful rendition of "Sittin On The Dock Of Day" reverberated through "The Village" I wondered if it was the same band. As I spent the next 45 minutes to an hour photographing and videotaping folks dancing the streets the Rick Bauer Band played Bruce Springsteen's "Everybody's Got a Hungry Heart", Johnny Cash's "Love Is a Burnin' Thing", Bob Seger and the Silver Bullets' "Old Town Rock and Roll" and Stephen Still's "Love The One You're With" before the band took a break. At which time I headed back to the apartment on South Ocean Boulevard to rejoin friends for dinner which our guests from NYC had prepared. When I showed images that I had taken of the band to my friend he said that it was a different band. Which I had suspected since the blues band that he spoke of consisted mostly of older afro-american men. May I suggest that if you are ever in the Lauderdale By The Sea area on a Friday evening that you check out Jazz On The Square at Pelican Square which, just yards from the Anglin Pier and Beach, takes place from 6 until 10 pm on the streets just outside of The Village Grille and Village Pump at El Mar Drive and Commercial Boulevard. I stumbled upon Stage 954 at the Casibo at Dania Beach and signed up for their emails. They have many tribute bands- Rumours ATL looked great. They were excellent. I grabbed a quick bite of food before going into the venue. It was pretty basic-a bunch of folding chairs, a bar and restrooms. It was a late arriving crowd- apparently it's the norm to start 15-20 mins late. The sound was good and the crowd was friendly. I enjoyed it so much that I'm coming back in June for a show.

Get audio and lighting crew that know the music and turn up the lead singers vocals and each guitar solos & can utilize the lighting rhythmically. Then hundreds of patrons and bands could have a better experience, then be diminishing by 3 people operating the in-house equipment. Guardian Security are not a substitute for helpful & polite ushers. Security guards were Rude, pushing people out of the venue immediately after the show, please allow your guest to do meet & greet with the band and utilize the restroom

What a legendary night at Pompano Beach Amphitheater for the Willie Nelson concert! Willie still…read moreknows how to command a crowd and turn a South Florida night into pure magic under the stars. This venue seriously deserves its flowers. Every seat feels like a good seat -- even farther back you still get amazing views, great sound, and that intimate concert vibe that bigger arenas just can't match. The covered open-air setup makes the whole experience feel relaxed, breezy, and perfectly Florida. The crowd energy was incredible, the acoustics were on point, and the staff kept things moving smoothly all night. Only downside? Parking was definitely a bit of a struggle getting in and especially leaving after the show. Pro tip: arrive early and pack a little patience for the exit traffic. Totally worth it once the music starts. Many standing, many who had brought their own chairs to enjoy the music sitting down. The event happens on the selected Fridays from 6p-10p.

The food was a bit of a letdown. The restaurant wasn't busy, yet our food took a while to come. The shrimp cocktail comes with 6 shimps. I was really disappointed with the ceviche. It had no flavor, and I had to ask for salt, pepper, and hot sauce just to give it some taste. The bowl was large, but the actual portion of ceviche was not. I definitely left still hungry. I will say, the location is beautiful. The restaurant sits right by the ocean, and there are areas with fireplaces that create a nice atmosphere. After eating, you can walk toward the pier,which is near the hotel. Since this was my first time in the area, I'm not sure what time it normally closes. Overall, I think the views and atmosphere are the best part, but the food definitely needs some improvement.

Here, it doesn't really matter the views of the stage but taking it all in. The great music, the conversations, drinks, and food. Also entertaining seeing other various groups having a good time. Always seriously suggest arriving either early or no later than 11:30ish as seating in shade is limited, and you just want to max out the enjoyment factor. But have no fear, that when the festivities do end at 2pm, there are plenty of reasons to stay and enjoy a nice day in the park. Plenty of people do! Pro tip: bring a good Bluetooth speaker with good bass and play New Orleans music radio channel. A group nearby did while continuing to hang out at the park. Today has been very relaxing. Will hope for a stretch in May weather but if not then the memories will have to carry until this Fall.
