We visited on a Sunday afternoon. I got there a little before 3pm and snagged a table. The table service was excellent!! We wanted to see the pianist, but he called out sick. That just means we need to come again! The espresso martini was delicious and had a great layer of foam On the one I received. My friend ordered one and didn't get a good foam layer. I assume the bartender didn't shake it enough. The music is played at a volume that allows you to have a conversation. HH on Sunday is 1-8pm. 1/2 price wines and well drinks. There is free parking in the city lot across the street until 6pm on Sundays. I left at 6pm and the place was packed! read more

The lighting is moody enough, but not too dark that you can't see what you're drinking or who you're talking to. I came here with two friends because I've always loved their espresso martinis, lived the West End, and was excited to have a good night. I sat at the bar while my friends were seated at one of the tall tables. After getting my drink, I politely asked the some guys if I could take a chair over to join my friends, and the bartender said no in a very rude and hostile way. A few minutes later, other guests at the bar offered me a chair, so I took it and joined my friends. Without warning, the bartender came over and aggressively pulled the chair out from under me while I was sitting on it, causing me to fall hard onto the floor. I could have seriously injured my face or hit the table. My friends witnessed everything and recorded it. I have never experienced such dangerous, humiliating, and unprofessional behavior from a bartender in my life. It felt targeted and discriminated, and I genuinely felt singled out because of how I look. Instead of taking accountability, management focused on calming the situation and then blamed me for being "too aggressive" after I was the one physically put at risk. How convenient for them? So they kicked me out after physically putting me at risk. Unbelievable. Am I supposed to be calm and nice after the bartender did that ? Why wasn't he kicked out for starting to be aggressive in the first place literally physically. This was disturbing, unsafe, and completely unacceptable. My friend finally talked to the manager and the manager was very, very nice, but the bartender should be fired. Not only was the bartender rude to us at the bar, he was extremely rude to us by pulling a stool out from me and causing me to fall. If he had a problem with the stool we were sitting on, he should have asked the manager to talk to us , but not acted like a bully by pulling out the stool underneath new, while I was sitting on it. It is not the role of a bartender to aggressively pull a stool from underneath a customer. It is also not the role of a bartender to be cocky and rude to customers. He should have gone to the manager and ask to manager to have a diplomatic conversation with me. That would have been good customer service. read more

If you aren't big into clubs and partying but still end to enjoy a sense of community, good conversation, and socialization then go here. I live on the gulf coast but get over to WM frequently and when I do this is always a stop. I love the energy and casual nature, and always manage to have a lovely conversation or two with complete strangers. The West End Lounge, taking the former location of Matty's, is the newest bar along the drive. Though the basic structure and layout of Matty's remain the same, the changes in décor are dramatic leading to a pleasant spacious eye appealing elegant surroundings. It's a true cocktail lounge with a true lounge atmosphere. They have a good cocktail menu with some of the usual suspects like such as the Espresso Martini but also some innovative new ones. But I just stuck to my usual Bacardi and soda which came with a decent pour. The bartenders are professional, competent, and polite. The West End Lounge doesn't have any food, but if you're hungry, Tulio's Tacos and Tequila Bar is only a breezeway away. read more

I had been a patron of The West End Lounge for several years, but after my most recent experience I would not recommend it. During my visit yesterday, I attempted to avoid a patron who had previously expressed romantic interest in me, which I declined. There have also been prior situations involving my service dog where the owner, Chris O'Neill, made remarks about the dog and asked me to move from where I was sitting while inside the establishment. My service dog has always been leashed, under control, friendly, and not barking during my visits. Despite that, I was asked to relocate on those occasions, which made me uncomfortable. As I was leaving the bar, the same patron who had previously expressed romantic interest in me directed a comment toward me that I interpreted as derogatory. I brought the situation to the attention of the manager on duty, Patrick, who stated that he would address the issue. I left the establishment while he assured me that it would be taken care of. As I was leaving, I passed Chris O'Neill with someone he identified as his partner and told him what had happened. I do not know his partner. Chris went inside briefly and then returned outside and confronted me, stating that I had made remarks and comments about his Colombian partner. That was not something I had been discussing. To avoid any further conflict, I walked away and left the area. It was disappointing to have this experience at a venue that often promotes community and inclusivity. Based on how the situation unfolded and my prior experiences there, the environment did not feel welcoming. For that reason, based on my experience as a longtime patron, I would not recommend the establishment. I hope the West End reflects on this situation so that all patrons feel comfortable and respected. This review reflects my personal experience and perspective. read more

After a long wait, West End Lounge finally opened last month. What a welcome addition to the bar scene on "The Drive" in Wilton Manors, as the Arts & Entertainment District successfully expands west from the major intersection. While the structural bones still look like the previous bar Matty's, the interior has been transformed into a very swanky speakeasy. A lot of thought (and money) went into the high-end decor and design. West End is probably the most upscale lounge in the gayborhood. The focus is on evening live entertainment. There is a baby grand on the stage, but so far it's not a singalong piano bar (which I am glad it is not...this is not the place). Think jazz musicians and professional singers. There are lots of special cocktails on the menu, and the bartenders are clearly mixologists. Service is a bit slow, but maybe because these cocktails take some time to make. Be patient and be prepared to pay on the "high-end" for The Drive prices. We were pleasantly surprised with the good list of decently priced wine. So far the bar food is limited and nothing to write home about. It would be nice if there were more seats closer to the stage, as crowds have to stand blocking others sitting further back. But crowds are good for business, and chairs can't block the emergency exits. My friends and I will probably be coming often, maybe even more so if they start having happy hours. read more

Wilton Manors needs an upscale speakeasy and now it has one. There are many places for dance, beer and frothy beverages on the Drive, but West End appears to be bringing the cocktail artistry to a higher level. It is also a bar you can hear yourself talk. The West End Lounge just opened, so patience with the bar staff is a must as they learn the flow and the cocktails. The drinks are really nice, albeit a bit complicated which might add to some of the chaos behind the bar. The wine selection is also very nice. The indoor and outdoor spaces are both roomy with enough space for a crowd, it doesn't feel cramped. The vibe is what it's all about. There aren't any other jazz lounges on the drive, so the lounge is a great alternative to the usual. Live music, great comfortable seating, plenty of staff...keep up this energy! read more

Wilton Manors just got a great upgrade: The West End Lounge is a welcome newcomer. The decor is chic, with beautiful art on the walls and very sexy velvet drapery. There are jewel tone chairs , low tables and high tops, all set with pretty mood lamps on a beautiful retro black and white tiled floor. The mood is truly vintage elegance. There is a stage and a baby grand piano, although that night we missed the music. The wine we ordered by the glass was good with a healthy pour, and even better, the wine glasses are of a very good quality, with a fine stem and nicely- sized bowl. The bartender was making beautiful cocktails and has quite a following, so we will try those on our next visit. Our server was very attentive, which we appreciated. Beautiful and comfortable environment. Very nice bartender but they make their own tips up. I don't keep my receipts but I do photograph them all. This is common in gay bars. In the past month West End, Drynk and Boardwalk make up their own tips. Out of 10 bar/restaurant experiences in a 10 day period 3 of 10 made their own tips up. The 3 that did were gay bars. This has never occurred in a straight bar or restaurant to me. I won't bother to contact my credit card. My bill was $15. I left a $5 tip. They decided $7 was better. My receipt clearly shows a grand total of $20. So now I know. read more

In my opinion, this is the classiest bar that serves the best cocktails on Wilton dmDrive. HOWEVER, after Having, Drinks tonight, due to the majority of the clientele being. 50-60 years of age and older, I would highly suggest management hiring at least one or two bartenders that are 50-60 years of age that can better relate to the customers patronizing this establishment. Everything else about this bar is excellent except for the bartenders. I'n not knocking the current staff because the staff is very nice, but there is an age gap that could better relate to the clientele that is glaring. read more

Another great new bar on Wilton Drive, it's next to Tulio's Tacos and where Matty's used to be. It's really nice inside and you can tell they have spent a lot of money on the space. I like to sit outside, they have sofa seatings and both high top and low tables. The only issue here is that sometimes they will get caught up with everyone making cocktails that take forever so service can be a little slow. It's so new though that any niggles like this will get ironed out. Well recommended. The crowd is generally older during happy hour, say to 50s to 70s but I imagine that changes later at night. read more

April 2024, came here for an event it was the first time at this bar that had a cute decor and felt comfortable. The staff were wonderful and Owen our Server was fabulous! He took great care of our table. Place was packed for Happy Hour, and you couldn't beat the prices. Would definitely come here again. Just wish they had bar bites. read more
