The Grouper Rueben was the perfect choice for me being a pescatarian, and my family loved the Radio City sandwich packed with pastrami and cornbeef. Ok. This place was the bomb for several years. It's got history and some of the best drag events in the area. Not to mention bumping music and quiz nite activities. As an act of revival, the owner is competing with the local establishments for a bigger crowd. Happy hour is a thing now, and their prices are competitive. Glad they hopped on the working man train. What can we say but... six stars perhaps?? We walked around Downtown Ft. Myers looking for breakfast and saw the pleasing and welcoming brunch menu and popped in on a whim. (Plus the bottomless mimosas and Bloody Marys...insert drooling emoji.... Boy were we surprised about the experience we were about to have!!! The owner Chris greeted us like we were family, picked the perfect table for us, and made a few (amazing) suggestions. We started with the house-made Argentinian ground lamb empanadas- with a side of their scrumptious chimichuri sauce. Chris also suggested I try the Five Farms Irish Cream Liqueur in my coffee. (I'm a huge Bailey's fan) Little did I know that Five Farms was 10 times better (with undertones of licorice) -- yum! Enter the delightful Jennifer- the hubs ordered his first spicy bottomless Bloody Mary- it had the perfect kick in the pants spice! My sister-from-another-mister had the bottomless mimosas and "delicious" was how she described them! I ordered the (perfect) sheet pan quiche, the hubs ordered the "juicy and perfectly crunchy" grouper Reuben with perfect and crunchy, the perfectly-peppered and tasty biscuits and gravy- we also had an order of their famous French toast and BYO omelette. Pretty basic breakfast! We once loved the Standard when we first moved to Fort Myers but over the years the food quality has been on the decline. We went on Sunday around 10am for breakfast, it was super quiet and I had the biscuit & gravy + eggs your way, my hubby had the Country Benedict. The gravy was greasy and not super flavorful, eggs were cooked fine but not hot, and the biscuit just ok! Potatoes were undercooked. My husband's fried chicken in the Benedict was delicious though, star of both meals! Good portion size. With all the choices in the downtown area now, Standard isn't our first pick! Everything about the place is a nightmare! From the dirty bar, the filthy floors, and the rude owner who yells at his employees out in the open- it's a wonder this place is still in business. We chose the Standard to check out the drag brunch on a Sunday afternoon and it did not disappoint. First, the drag show is tons of fun! The entertainment was top-notch, music choice was fun, and the team was clearly enjoying every bit of their show. On the same page, the drinks were flowing and not one person complained the drink was too weak - definitely a good use of money. As for food, it was mostly good. I would avoid the fried pickles (sadly) as they weren't anything special. Instead, they were mostly dull and extra greasy. But, the omelet and chicken & waffle were both hella good. The food was great! I got a spinach omelet with toast and fruit. I had a spicy Bloody Mary that had the right spice, but wasn't as tomato-y as I would have liked. Our server was nice and on it! I seldom write a review of a restaurant. However after eating at The Standard last weekend I must. The place is cute and quaint. My wife and I went for breakfast Sunday morning with grandkids. The food as almost inedible. One of the usual reasons to go out to breakfast is the idea that you can't really mess up cooking eggs. Boy was I wrong. Three of us got eggs, they were all so overcooked that they were dry and tasteless. A tasteless omelette, a tasteless egg taco combo. And a tasteless overcooked build your own combo. The home fries were tiny cubed fried potatoes probably cooked in a French fryer. They were tasteless. There is no kids menu although they will give a list of options orally without prices. Even the receipt process was odd with no real accounting of what we ate and what each item cost. It was the worst breakfast we've had in 20 years hands down. Sad. read more

Skillets are always amazing. Drag queen bingo was going on so if you're not into it then not a good place on a Sunday. If you're a fan it's a great show, and they charge $15 per person. We were supposed to host our daughter's engagement party at the Standard at Sabal Springs on a Saturday night. Unfortunately part of the bridal party were stranded due to flight cancellations and we needed to move the party to Sunday. Chef Red was so amazing. He made sure the party went forward and was able to secure a room for us at their Paige field location. The party went forward on Sunday and Matthew the manager and Alexis our server were outstanding. They helped set the room up. Attended to everyone's needs. We're funny and lighthearted and just made the event so special. The food was very good. Everyone in the party enjoyed their dishes and drinks. Wow. So my husband and I have been coming to this place since they opened and we have loved it. We have even spoken to the owner at a few of his other restaurants which I think are now closed. But wow what a complete change. The food was great, up until recently. Our last couple experiences have just been so bad and we have tried and tried again to give it a chance but it was just so bad. The last straw was the service is HORRIBLE, we sat with our family for a full hour and managed to get a beer a piece and an appetizer. Then our beers ran out and we felt like we were being purposely ignored. There were three other tables and a couple people (not remotely busy) at the bar and we COULD NOT get an order placed for our meal. We actually had to ask to even get a bill so we could go somewhere else to get a meal. I'm sad because this was one of our go to places and we are definitely done with it. We told the bartender at the bar we ended up to for lunch about our experience and she said she had heard the same story over and over. I was ready for a great brunch. I got a middle of the road brunch. We sat in the outdoor covered area - across from the coffee shop. The spot wasn't the best as there was a passerby guy standing near us smoking. Karaoke was broadcast over the speaker system - and as we know - karaoke isn't as fun (or as good) when you can't see the singer. The food was so-so. I had the burger which was served with raw bacon. The bartenders are the best in town, especially Aziza and Katie. Seriously, they are welcoming, friendly, engaging, efficient, and they remember you. The atmosphere is outstanding for a cocktail, dinner, or lunch. The food is fresh, handmade/homemade and delicious. They have some of their own wine labels which people at the bar seemed to enjoy and order a lot. No stress, just relaxing and cool. Trivia night was a lot of fun too. Very cute restaurant downtown. I came on a weeknight and they weren't too busy at around 7 P.M. They have a wide variety of italian dishes as well as other american dishes (burgers etc.) They also have poutine which I was very surprised to see. I got the bolognese and it was actually really good! I loved the cheese pulls and everything tasted fresh. Good ratio of noodles to sauce/meat and a very sizable portion. I also got to try the blackened chicken alfredo which was pretty good too. I loved the little crunchy bread provided on the side to dip into the noodles and absorb some sauce. Food was good- ok, our fave dish was the Benedict pizza. Environment was fun and upbeat. We went for Sunday brunch and they had karaoke going on which was entertaining. Southwest egg Benny was good. Nothing out of this world, but good. Their Cali omelette was just ok. The sun dried tomatoes were really bland and the whole dish just didn't really have a pop. Aside of that we did find a small hair on our food which.. just takes your appetite away. While restaurants are re opening because of Covid, most restaurants I have visited have taken precautions with the current pandemic going on. This is the first restaurant where not one member of their staff was wearing masks. There was 0 social distancing and the servers get really close to you because the music is loud which- during our current times just isn't ideal. Our servers were nice. I'm just not sure I would come back after this experience as the whole time I felt unsafe as the people handling my food weren't wearing masks during a pandemic, the hair in our food and honestly the food just didn't stand out really. read more
