Wow! This place was awesome. The highlight on our downtown Ft Myers pub crawl. Overall, this place was cute - silent movies playing and it was busy, though not too crazy when we went on a Tuesday night. The cocktails were good and I didn't find them too expensive, but with only one bartender working and some of these being more work intensive, it was slow. We sat there for a while, then a larger group came in and we tried to catch the bartender's eye so we wouldn't wait too much longer. Also took a little while to get the bill. One of the bartenders (she wouldn't provide us with her name) was so nice to us. She saw our handbags.. they were luxury.. She was so kind. Then she went to the bathroom and told us she would be right back. She was gone for about 20 minutes. She came back and she kept rubbing her nose. My friend that was sitting next to me is a physician and asked her if she was OK. She informed us that she was OK. His wife then went into the bathroom because she said she had to go into the bathroom to go urinate. The door was not locked and she opened the door and walked in and said the woman bartender was snorting cocaine off of the back of the toilet. Beyond unprofessional and rude staff, despite a wonderful concept by owners (very consistent with other reviews). Bar was busy so our group was seated outside and one of our guys went in to order drinks for all of us. A bartender took a compliment the wrong way. Later, while we were seated outside, the bartender approached our table to smoke right by the front door (instead of near an alley way or back where most employees would go). Seemed like bartender was trying to provoke a situation by coming near us. When an apology was offered to de-escalate the awkwardness, the situation escalated--bartender leaned over the seated customer and yelled in their face instead of de-escalating. Police were ultimately called on the employee, not on the customer. I strongly encourage management to review their security footage, especially the outdoor footage, to see how staff interact with paying customers. Review footage periodically. Please also review the footage specific to this incident, showing an employee smoking at the front entrance and then leaning over and screaming at a seated guest. This was an unprofessional, uncomfortable and unnecessary experience. Management, your concept is great, but you need better employees. Definitely will not be returning. read more

Extremely rude to us and was constantly talking down to us when we would ask anything. For instance, I asked if they had a bathroom, he said "no." then after a long pause said "of course we have a fucking bathroom". This type of language and behavior exactly portrays our experience. Definitely could use more help, as with only one bartender, be prepared to wait for the custom drinks. I'm giving the bar 3 stars due to bathrooms. Bathrooms are atrocious. The door locks don't work, so I was interrupted by another patron. Garbage was always overflowing, sinks were philthy and slow draining, and a giant dead cockroach on the floor. For such a cool atmosphere, the bathrooms really degrade it. It's very easy to do a quick policing of the restrooms every hour or so. With just a couple tweaks, this place could be next level! read more

I recommend with caution. I want So much to give this place a higher score but I can't for a couple of reasons. The men's room for 1, I was told was dirty and 2, the inconsistency of the drinks. What I Loved was Danny's Smoky Old Fashion, gave the Full presentation! The effort made a huge difference in the taste I'm telling you. I was ecstatic to find a speakeasy-inspired bar on the quieter side of Florida! Tucked behind the main strip of bars, restaurants, and shoppes. Rating the ambiance 5/5. It was casual, trendy, intimate, yet inviting for those indulging alone. It looks like something out of a black and white film which ironically silently plays in the background across the bar. Noise level was moderate, you could hear the person next to you while receiving a level of privacy when speaking. There was ample seating in the establishment and around the bar. Rating the cocktails 4.5 out of 5. There is a diverse menu and mixologist (Savanah) was knowledgeable, able to recommend cocktails, and able to provide a twist to some of the classics. Savannah was personable, checked on all guests, anticipated our needs, and provided dates to return... all while assisting a newer employee. She is an asset! I am looking forward to more unique presentation with garnish, theatrics perhaps (smoking/infused), and mixologist innovation in creating a cocktail based on the consumer's profile. read more

Now, this is my type of place. I can never say "No" to a speakeasy-inspired bar, especially, one that looks straight out of the 20s and plays old Charlie Chaplin movies. We were walking down the alleyway on this particular Friday evening when my eye from where I stood outside caught the sight of a gorgeous cherrywood shelf of spirits that extended to the ceiling. The 86 Room has no sign or obvious markings, you have to be able to tell from the wall of whiskey bottle shelving seen from the front windows in the Patio De Leon square. But that is the appeal if you're someone like me that likes a bar with a non-assuming appearance that pours great glasses of whiskey and other cocktails. The bartenders dressed as if they were from the Twenties, with the one woman in a black flapper costume. We grabbed a spot at the far-left corner of the u-shaped bar and ordered drinks from the girl wearing a black flapper dress. The whole ambiance between the dim lighting, cherrywood bar counter, shelving, and wall trim, as well as Charlie Chaplin films playing on the back wall. As I sat nursing my Heaven's Door on the rocks, I felt quite at ease, scanning the bar from my corner of the clientele, the barrage of conversations blended together. On any given night, the vibes are great here, definitely a classy one. Not that you need to dress up or anything like that, but the vintage feel separates The 86 Room from the rest of the bars in downtown. If you're looking for an experience where you can chill and enjoy some good spirits and cocktails, then this is the place to go. read more

My friends were showing me the town and wanted to show off The 86 Room. What a fun space. There is indoor and outdoor seating, which provides great options for you group or intimate gathering. The inside space is decorated with dark wood and dim lighting. They also have a video projector and play old movies on the wall. Bar seating, tables and couch and chair options are available. The bar staff were dressed appropriate for the setting, which added a nice flare to the experience. The full bar option also will appeal to anyone in your group. The location is perfect right downtown and in the middle of all the restaurants, so easy to get to and there is a parking garage not far away. We only stayed for a drink, but it was a great experience and highly recommended. read more
