3 months in, and so far, so great. The community is quiet and everyone I've met here has been extremely friendly. Seems to be mostly young, working professionals. But it's also nice to hear some kids laughing near the pool on the weekends and some families around complex. Also, tons of friendly doggos! The apartments themselves are great. Noise isolation between each unit is awesome. I rarely hear my neighbors, and I hope they rarely hear me! (Note, I do live on the top floor, so I never hear anybody above me, although the floors and ceilings seem very solid). You hear groups walking down the hallway and talking, but their voices disappear completely as soon as they get in their unit. Appliances are awesome, ACs work well, everything seems top notch. The staff is also great. Amy, Nicole, and Ben are super helpful in the front office. And the maintenance techs, George and Matt, are super friendly and responsive as well. Fire Alarms go off multiple times a month, most of the time it's between 10 pm to 7 AM waking you scaring the kids and pets. Most people don't even come out of the building when it goes off now because it's always a false alarm. I just hope there isn't a real one once of these days. After the alarm goes off you might get an email apologize for it. but it keeps going off. I heard one of the most recent reasons was a pipe burst in the basement setting it off in which they had the nerve to say our alarm was "working properly." Well why don't you do your proventinive maintace before pipes break. how long do you let things go before it's too late. and if your really sorry for waking us all up multiple times throughout the month, why don't you give us a month or 2 rent free. saying your sorry every time doesn't go very far. read more

If you're looking for a modern, safe, fun, top-notch apartment complex... look no further. The Standard has achieved and exceeded my expectations since moving in. Amenities - You won't find many apartment complexes with the same number of amenities the Standard offers. The Standard has a game room, rooftop lounge, study room, pool, multiple BBQ areas and my favorite, a dog park. Each amenity is well kept and everything works. Safety - When looking for an apartment complex in San Jose, safety was high on my list of needs. I wanted to not only feel comfortable in my apartment, but also wanted a place where I wouldn't have to worry about leaving my car outside. The Standard's safety standards are... above standard . Each resident is given their own key fob which grants them access to the building and garage. Guests must be let in by a resident - so the complex is essentially locked to outsiders. The garage is also well-lit, clean, and access controlled as well. Cleanliness/Maintenance - I've been pleasantly surprised at how clean the Standard's team keeps the complex. I've rarely seen anything out of place - and the team is routinely cleaning and keeping the building in pristine condition. - Maintenance requests are handled quickly and efficiently. The one request we've had was handled same-day - something you just don't see nowadays. Staff - After living in multiple different professionally managed apartments, I can say the Standard's staff is exceptional. From day 1, Amy and Nicole have facilitated a seamless move in, helped with any and all questions, and continually work to make the Standard really feel like home. Unit - The Standard's units are spacious, provide a lot of natural light, and are energy efficient. The brand new appliances, modern kitchen and in-unit washer/dryer are a much appreciated perk. One of my favorite things of the unit is how quiet it is. I have not heard neighbors on either side, nor have I heard neighbors above or below the unit. Area - I've been pleasantly surprised with the area around the Standard. Willow Glen is a 10 minute walk away, and downtown is a quick uber ride away. There's plenty of restaurants, bars, parks, and activities to suit anybody's entertainment desires. All in all, I've loved living at the Standard and am happy it's the complex we chose to move in to. I've been living at The Standard for a little over two months now and I can't say enough good things about this place. First and foremost, the AMAZING staff (Jamie, Amy, Nicole and Ben) make you feel like you're their TOP PRIORITY. I can only imagine how many other tenants they assist but, they all have their ways of making you feel SPECIAL as an individual. I, myself, have asked for plenty of favors from them, especially Amy, and they never fail to go ABOVE AND BEYOND expectations and do it with SINCERITY. There's never such thing as a task too big, nothing is ever an inconvenience for them. They handle situations well and provide TOP NOTCH SERVICE. The Standard is in a GREAT LOCATION. It's right off of 280. About 10 minutes from downtown, 8 minutes from Santana Row and less then 5 minutes from downtown Willow Glen. There's a VTA light rail station practically in the parking lot appx. 5 minutes by foot! I personally never had an issue with security. There's a gated garage, ample parking for tenants and guests. Multiple elevators conveniently located throughout the building. The amenities and grounds are kept well, clean and presentable. There are plenty of areas to hang out, you can BBQ, catch some rays or take a dip by poolside/jacuzzi, drinks by the fireplace, read in business lounge, play a game of billiards in the game room or watch the sunset on the roof top. LIVING HERE FEELS LIKE A VACATION! My unit has a balcony, spacious bathroom, it's modern and clean. Brand new modern appliances: stainless steel fridge, electric stove with an oven, microwave, dishwasher and in unit washer and dryer. There's plenty of room in the walk in closet. Maintenance is also top notch, things are fixed in a timely manner and is done with a genuine smile. There's plenty that The Standard has to offer. You can really tell that they put a lot of thought in regards to their tenants, when they put this community together. Moving all the way from the east coast, I couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to call my home. I am pleased to be a part of The Standard community. read more

If you value your sleep, sanity, eardrums, and your furry friend, this is not the place for you! It's 4:43 AM and we were just able to re-enter the building after yet another fire alarm. I believe this puts us at 5 in the past month? But I've stopped counting as it's clearly not a problem being resolved by management. Like others have said, this is becoming a traumatic situation with such random DEAFENING alarms happening at all hours. Folks are no longer evacuating the building because this has become such a regular occurrence. What happens in the event of a real emergency? We as tenants are being neglected and our patience is being abused at this point. In addition to the alarms, you won't get much help with noise complaints, I've heard multiple reports of thefts, and even had the pleasure of greeting 3 cops this morning as I took my dog out to potty. Had to let them in as they were waiting outside to respond to a report inside the lounge - who knows what wonderful issue that was regarding. I wish we had the chance to experience this place when original ownership and management was on board, it sounded like a wonderful place to live! Don't make the mistake we did. read more

The Standard San Jose is the best apartment I've stayed in since moving to the Bay Area a few years ago. The finishing within my apartment unit is outstanding! Granite countertops, brand new kitchen appliances, USB charging ports, brand new washer and dryer units. The units were designed very well and you can tell the community didn't cut corners during the constructions. Additionally, the property management team provide the best customer service there is. They are always reachable and quick to resolve any needs residents may have. My move in process was also seamless! Thank you Amy and Nicole. Security is also great. I always see security patrol walking around at night and there haven't been any issues so far. I needed an apt during a difficult transitional period. The standard fit the bill. Good location, spacious floor plan, new appliances, dog friendly. All of the reviews on here are accurate. The good and the very bad. At its worse it was awful, no response to emails sent to leasing office, the alarm sounds! OMG i have never experienced anything worse than the sound of that Alarm going off at 12am, 3am And again at 4am! It was enough to make anyone crazy! The carpets In the halls are filthy, and even though we are charged a monthly fee for trash pick up, I never understood the schedule because the neighbors trash would sit outside for days, the chute was right next door so I'd throw out my trash because it grossed me out to have it sitting outside my door for days. But the good outweighed the bad for me. The apartments are beautiful, clean, smart layouts and the neighbors are very quiet. I lived there for a year and I never had any noise complaints. I never had any maintenance or repair issues. I had packages misplaced or stolen but that's dishonest people not mgmts. Fault. I would recommend these apartments. As long as you don't have to interact with the leasing office, expect packages to be delivered or have visitors that will need parking. If you are living alone and need a peaceful quiet place, with clean and modern amenities, this is the place for you. read more

When Amy managed the building, it was pristine; she had a proactive, helpful, kind team. George and Brenda (maintenance), who stayed on after the management change in 2020, went above and beyond to keep the place together under terrible new management. Current building manager is a nightmare. She recently hired incompetent "friends and family" - Diane, Aurora, Camille. She also bullied and removed super George and Brenda, who knew the building inside and out and were essentially helping leasing office incompetents do their jobs. This building is on a fast-track to becoming a dump. Hot water is lost sporadically, elevators go out of service frequently (permits expired 6 months ago!), halls reek of garbage, stairwells & hall carpeting accumulated disgusting stains, fire alarm constantly goes off, thefts and car break-ins happen all the time. There was NO theft before management change, and fire alarms were very rare. To highlight leasing office's incompetence, below is a series of emails with misinformation, typos, incorrect punctuation about broken garage gates. That's right, if you want to live here, then you may become a prisoner in this building. 2/24/21, 7:17pm "Some of you may have noticed that your FOBS do not open the garage gate doors. Your FOB should still work for the other doors as well as the elevators. We are having troubles with the garage gates and have a called our vendor out to repair the problem. They should be here by 8pm 2/24/21..." NOTE: Garage gate doors is redundant. Fob is a word, not an acronym 2/25/21, 12:50pm "As some of you may have experienced, we are having problems with some of our FOB access doors. We have a vendor coming out today between 2-4pm to address the problem..." NOTE: Obviously, the first email falsely stated repair people would come 2/25/21, 1:30pm "Unfortunately we are having issues with our FOB system, which is affectioning some doors, and also access to the parking garage. As of right now, there is no way to enter or exit the garage... There is a tech scheduled to be out at the property to address the issues at 4pm today" NOTE: Affectioning...is the fob system trying to cuddle some doors? If the appointment is at 4pm, then why give false hope in previous email that this may be resolved earlier? 2/25/21, 2:26pm "We apologize there was an error sent out in the previous email sent at approx 1:29PM. You can indeed exit the garage. However; the FOBs are not working to open the garage gates from the outside. There are also entry doors in the stairwell that are not functioning. We have a vendor coming out today at 4:00PM to address the issue all issues...If you need assistance immediatley, please feel free to call our emergency cell phone at: (408) 688-6358" NOTE: Learn how to spell immediately. I've been living here for about 1 year and a half now. The complex has been through a couple property managers and things weren't perfect. That all changed when the current team consisting of Liz and Olga came in. They have done an amazing job with this place. I don't know about the residents who's "packages" keep getting stolen but the whole time I've been here not one single package of mine has been stolen. I even had a Dyson fan sitting outside my door for about 2 days and no one took it. Own 2 cars that are parked in the garage and not one has been broken into or damaged in anyway. Any concerns I bring to them the staff is usually very responsive. Only negative thing I've witnessed is parking. Currently difficult to find parking for your guest as you have people parking without the proper parking placard. In my opinion these people should start getting fined or towed. The fire alarms were indeed an issue going off at random times of the day. However, that problem was solved when Liz and Olga came in. Oh and huge shout out to the maintenance team. I have not lived at The Standard, but did visit it last weekend. It was, to say the least, a comical experience. I made an appointment with the leasing office last Sunday to visit 1 bedroom apartments. During the visit, I would ask the leasing agent (who is a temp working on Sundays) questions and she would know almost nothing. She would keep saying "I am only a temp, I don't know the answer". At one point, she actually gave me the map of the property and asked me to locate the apartment we were going to visit b/c she isn't good with orientation, LOL. The apartments are nice, but too small. There is no central AC, so I'm guessing the electric bills would be high. Will not be renting from here. read more

My boyfriend and I are first time renters, so naturally we were very excited about everything that apartment searching entails ie: visiting properties, looking at amenities offered and getting a feel for the community where we would potentially be spending (at minimum) a year of our lives at. We visited several other communities in the surrounding area and had subpar experiences, most of which were rushed and ultimately made us feel unwelcome... and then we found The Standard. From the moment we walked into the Leasing Office, we were warmly greeted by Amy, who made us feel right at home. She answered every question a newbie renter could possibly think of with an unmatched level of patience and professionalism, which made us feel like she wanted us to be apart of the community. I remember looking at my boyfriend after leaving and saying, "Wow! She was SO nice." And he agreed. We filled out an application the same night, and moved in about a month and a half afterwards. We have lived here for about 3 months now and absolutely love it. Our family who has visited us say that it has an upscale hotel feel, which I completely agree with. -It smells AMAZING just walking through the hallways in the building. During the tour, Amy let us know that the essential oil diffusers they have throughout the building are to thank for that. -A key fob is required to get into all main parts of the building, which adds an extra layer of security which we appreciate. -The location is great. It is central to just about everything in San Jose and just off the 87 and 280, but also not too far from all of the other major freeways. Downtown Willow Glen is just down the street as well. -All of the other residents we've met have been very friendly and quick to spark a conversation. It's nice to know who your neighbors are! -The maintenance crew does a great job with the upkeep of the building. I see them constantly ensuring the building and elevators are clean, which I really appreciate. -Making maintenance requests are a breeze. The only maintenance request we've had so far was resolved the very next day! I could go on and on, but we are beyond happy with our decision and that we get to call The Standard our home. read more

The new management is making the living experience worse and worse. Frequently car, bike room, mail room, and apartment break-in. Lack of communication from the new management team. Fire alarm goes off at least 1 or 2 per month. The management just gave lame excuses and blamed it on "someone" every time it happened. The false alarm still goes off frequently as it is. Like!? We lived in The Standard from July 2018-April 2019. We had to end our lease early due to relocating to another state because of our jobs. I cannot say good enough things about The Standard. We have been in the Bay Area since 2015 and we have moved apartments every single year. Besides living in a few apartments, we have researched and visited several different communities in the area. To us, nothing even came close to The Standard. All of the amenities are gorgeous from the pool/hot tub, to the grills, to the two-story gym, and to the club house/game room. The pool was never crowded, so we were always able to enjoy it and we were always able to get a chair. They even play music in the mail room. Maintenance does an excellent job of keeping the entire community clean. I loved all of our appliances in the apartment from a brand-new front loader washer and dryer along with a refrigerator with an ice/water dispenser. They also have an app in order to control your air conditioning and heat. We lived on the fifth floor and we would have hot water at any time in seconds. We never had to contact maintenance to fix anything in our apartment. The apartment was always quiet and I never heard any of our neighbors! You can also walk to downtown Willow Glen from The Standard. We would walk almost every weekend to either grab coffee or lunch/dinner. One of my favorite things about this community is who works in the leasing office. When you walk into the office, they automatically know who you are and what apartment you are in. Amy Weslowski truly cares about you as a resident. She was so helpful when it came to us having to end our lease early at the last minute and she also made the process WAY less stressful. She was always someone I enjoyed talking to when I went into the office. When we moved, Amy even wrote us a card wishing us luck in the future. The customer service and personal touch she provides the residents is top-notch. I would highly recommend this apartment complex. In my opinion, it is the best apartment complex in San Jose! Even with working in Mountain View, it was 100% worth the commute. read more

Can't say enough great things about this place. The office staff is incredible, the units are whisper quiet, the vibe is chill, and the apartments themselves are in great shape. (No surprise for such a new building.) I have been living at the Standard now for going on four months and could not be happier with my living situation! The complex is everything I could have hoped for with luxurious interiors, great amenities, secure parking; oh, and a brewery right across the street! The staff at The Standard could not be more professional and pleasant to work with, I have worked primarily with Amy who has been absolutely fantastic with everything :). The proximity to the VTA and CalTrain make trips up to The City and around town a breeze and the complex is just a short electric scooter ride away from DT Willow Glen which I love! 100% would recommend The Standard read more

I think anyone with a choice should avoid all 3 Alliance apartments on or near Lincoln especially the Standard. The software for the fobs never worked there was no way to buzz in guests you literally had to go down 5 flights to walk in guests. The entrance to the gym was not accessible from the ground floor. No plan to fix any of the fob issues which frequently meant the garage doors wouldn't open. There were frat parties at the pool most weekends. NO SECURITY WHAT SO EVER. Cars were broken into in the supposedly secure garage but NO CAMERAS. Cockroaches coming into the units via the air vents. Dog shit in the hallways and stairwells. Total disaster this company charges an exorbitant amount to rent and does nothing to maintain security. read more

If you are apartment searching in the bay area call The Standard and set up an appointment with Nicole. I lived at Mosaic apartments which is next to The Standard for 3 years and once The Standard was finished I made the move, and am SO HAPPY ABOUT IT. PRO's - Great amenities, because The Standard is a smaller community the common areas are very clean and usually fairly empty. -Roof top lounge is a great place to BBQ with friends and have a view of San Jose we have had multiple dinner parties up there and it is a hit - Pool area is super nice with showers and easy bathroom access -Leasing office staff are unbelievable at Mosaic I could barely get a hold of anyone in the leasing office but at The Standard they are super responsive and accommodating. I was also out of town because I had a friend pass away and they heard and left flowers at my door for my return. -Near Hapa's, there is a brewery across the street for easy drinking access and they have fun games and a foot truck in the evening CON -I would say the only CON is that when you have a visitor it is really hard for them to get in because even if they get through the front gate with the call box they cannot get in an elevator. This is also a good thing because I feel SUPER SAFE :) Highly Recommended :) read more

We visited The Standard a few times and Amy and Nicole were super helpful, honest, and accommodating. I love that is very easy to contact anyone in the office vs most apartments who have outsourced their phone calls, maintenance etc. The team at The Standard are great at informing residents on any issues or events. They do go above and beyond for their residents. I LOVE all the appliances in the apartment. Full size washer and dryers are Awesome! If you have any concerns they respond promptly and remedy the situation quickly. This apartment is absolutely incredible. I switched medications and became a total grumpy pain in the ass as a side effect for a solid 2-3 weeks and let me tell you the staff were so patient with me through it all. They helped through any lame complaint I had at the time and gave me every reason to just feel horrible for ever having a complaint. Nicole and Amy have literally been answering all my questions continually giving me the best service possible! My experience here has been amazing and all the facilities are really well kept. This complex really deserves the 5 stars. Maintenance has also been incredible! They literally show up the morning after every request and I've put in about 4 and they finished super quick and were super friendly through it all. Honestly best experience renting so far. The Standard is a brand new apartment complex with great amenities (courtyard with pool and hot tub, lots of barbecue grills, game room and even roof patio). Of course, my unit is also brand new, I am the first person to live there. I haven't had any problems with it, only once I submitted a maintenance request, and it was handled promptly. And the most important, leasing team here is amazing. Amy and Nicole are very helpful and friendly. They really care for the residents. I have lived at The Standard now for 4 months and can confidently say this is the best complex/community in the San Jose area. The staff at the front office are incredible - very helpful and as nice as can be. Almost worth living here just to have them as your community staff. The rooms are beautiful, appliances are of the highest quality, and the amenities are endless (including a 2-story gym). Even the grills located around the pool are of the highest quality. The community is very friendly - there is an on-site dog park, and parking is safe and easy to access. The whole move in process from the initial communication to moving in was one of the easier and pleasant experiences of relocating cross country. That was largely due to Amy. She was terrific throughout the whole process and a main reason why I chose The Standard. Got to have a good management team and the team at The Standard have been awesome! As for the apartment complex, I like the size of it. Not big like the other surrounding complexes. Security features is a plus with secured parking and entrance into the complex. i've lived here for years. it was great when Amy was here with her staff. there was a change in management this past year and they are terrible. they never respond. i've had so many packages stolen, my mail box has been broken into, my car has been broken into multiple times. they supposedly have security but they are no where to be found. there are constant false fire alarms that will pop your ears. we are paying so much and all amenities have been closed, rather than sanitize them for us between uses..there are a ton of other apartments around, do yourself a favor and don't be fooled by the looks. find a different residence read more

We have lived at the Standard for 3 years. We will not renew when our lease ends this summer. The front office responsiveness, communication and knowledge has dropped dramatically since Greystar took over the management and installed new staff. It did not improve even after alleged training of the staff by another Greystar apartment manager. An email was sent a couple of weeks ago explaining the amenities would be opening back up and we would soon get another email explaining the procedures for using them. As has happened several times over the past year there is no follow through and we are still waiting for the info. Add to that the frequent false fire alarms and fob issues which are extremely annoying. The final straw was the break-in and theft of items we had in a storage room we paid extra every month to have. The lack of follow up and concern after our reporting the issue was a surprise. We moved our stuff to the storage company next door which was also cheaper. The Standard does not offer value for the rent. Recommend you look elsewhere. read more

They helped make my move-in go smoothly and helped answer questions about the functionality of some of the appliances with a professional, friendly attitude. I moved to Bay Area in late December and was in a hurry to get my space close to work. "The Standard" was the perfect choice and it is a really a great new community. All of the staff on site are really friendly and they assist you with anything and everything you need. Nicole took time to give me a tour and also show me different apartments, asking which will be a best fit for me. After I decided, she helped me out with the follow ups and also assisted with anything I need during the move. Really appreciate her help in getting me settled down at the new place. Thank you Nicole. The apartment gives you a luxury feeling with all the amenities and well done finishes. The appliances are new/latest and so are the finishes in the kitchen. My fiancée and I relocated from the Midwest and have been living here for a couple of months, and could not be happier. We were able to execute everything over the phone to move in, and that was such a breeze because of how helpful the staff is here. We have no complaints, which is amazing because we know apartment living isn't always perfect, but living at The Standard, is damn close. Amy at the leasing office has been absolutely incredible with any of our requests or questions and makes it so friendly, and not intimidating. We genuinely feel like they care, and that they enjoy us living here, which makes it all the better. All of that hasn't even touched on how nice our apartment is! The complex is clean and well kept, and we have some of the best amenities we've found in any complex we looked at. We love that we live in a safe community, that has every option possible, and the best staff, and we couldn't be happier being at The Standard. read more

Although the property and apartments are physically nice, the complex is thoroughly uncommunicative, and will not return your security deposit. After speaking to several former residents, this seems to be a consistent theme. They will bill for normal wear and tear, which is a violation of California civil code, and will even dare you to take them to court over it. I waited the full 21 days indicated by law for them to return my deposit, or provide me with documentation of any deductions. After 21 days, they emailed me documentation of painting and cleaning (normal wear and tear) which used up the entirety of my deposit. Regardless of ANY deductions, once they have missed the 21 day window, they are obligated to return my deposit. They are also obligated to notify me of any deductions in ADVANCE, which they did not do. After sending them several strongly worded emails they claimed they mailed me documentation within the 21 day window, but on the attachment of this documentation they had my address wrong (but on the attached notice to vacate, I clearly entered it correctly). During my residence at The Standard, we lost a significant number of packages, and several times had to demand that the property manager manually open the package lockers in order for us to retrieve them. They consistently failed to respond to emails within a timely manner (over a week). The management of this property is either incompetent, or simply disinterested in the experience of residents. They fight to return a security deposit which only amounts to about 22% of the rent they charge every month. A huge corporation looking to defraud normal people of their money. Sounds about right. This is a great building to live in if you enjoy frequent midnight fire alarms that will leave your ears ringing for days, or if you like seeing office staff not wear their masks during a pandemic while interacting with the residents/public. read more

The staff here, Amy, Nicole, and Jamie as well as the maintenance supervisor (George) and the facility upkeep Patrice have been beyooooonnnnnnnd incredible in every way! I've never lived in a place where people are so attentive to your needs and it being such a high class place to live really lives up to its Standard! Me and my roomie have had such a warm welcoming into the complex as new residents. I highly recommend moving here and having everything you need and expect in a living area or living environment. I have been a long-time resident of Willow Glen so I was excited to see that The Standard was finally open and ready for me to see. When I first called to schedule a time to tour the community, I was greeted with a friendly voice and lots of enthusiasm. The leasing specialist answered all of my questions in great details and offered some very helpful insights on the apartments and the community as a whole. A few minutes after scheduling my appointment, I received a confirmation email verifying the date and time we discussed as well as the community address. The first thing I noticed upon entering the driveway was how beautiful and modern the building is - Located directly across from Hapa's Brewing Company in a very up and coming part of town - I knew it was in the exact location that I was looking for. I had arrived a few minutes early and was immediately greeted by the leasing team - They had smiles from ear to ear and their upbeat, welcoming demeanor made me feel right at home. What a great first impression! Since the community is still undergoing construction, I was only able to see a few of their apartments as they are not yet ready for move in's. It was also explained to me that the amenities will not be available for the first set of move in's and will be ready once the second phase of the building opens. I can't wait to see these amenities - I plan on taking full advantage of that bocce ball court! The apartments themselves are perfect for what I want - Spacious living and kitchen area, energy efficient stainless steel appliances, tons of storage and beautiful wood flooring. The team took the time to answer all of my questions and emailed me a recap of our tour shortly after my visit.
