To be completely honest, I have some alarm over the fact that either I am having a stroke or the entire surrounding area is delusional because I cannot grasp the good reviews for this place. I feel betrayed. We ordered this meal to cap off a stretch of long work days. We weren't looking for anything nutritious, this was a naughty, slutty, orgie, type of order. We did a lil research and this seemed like a good enough bet, ESPECIALLY with the reviews. I don't know what the bar is around here but I live in Westchester and I don't think this place would survive a week in my area. I'm being savage because I'm genuinely PISSED at the waste of a meal this was. We ordered: mac and cheese, deep fried cauliflower, margherita flatbread, veggie flatbread, side of loaded garlic mash, side of veggies, sweet potato fries. I will admit that the mac and cheese was fantastic. It was even quite good heated up as leftovers. I loved the option of the side portion which was actually a pretty generous portion. GF actually liked the veggie flatbread but notes that it was cold upon arrival. I don't know if that can be blamed on the restaurant tho. My flatbread was just ok. The crust wasn't particularly good. It wasn't BAD but I can't say much more than that. The mashed potatoes were pretty good also but I fucked up and didn't realize the loaded version would be covered in bacon. That was my bad. I appreciate the attempt at the veggie options but the deep fried cauliflower really seemed to be frozen cauliflower which...isn't good at all. The batter had zero flavor. It wasn't worth the calories. I lied when I said we weren't looking for anything nutritious because I always need to sneak in an order of something with fiber and antioxidants for the temple that is my body. I ordered the side of veggies to achieve that task. They were mushy, clearly frozen veggies that were just warmed up, soggy, flavorless. It's insane to literally sell vegetables to people but then just buy a bag of frozen veggies and throw them in the microwave. Beyond me. The veggie sweet potato fries were cold, soggy, undercooked, and I am not joking or exaggerating, came with an absolute joke of a portion. There MAY be 15 fries there, max. I am actually going to post a picture because the quantity was offensive. They were so underwhelming we just gave them to the dogs. The dogs liked them but my dog literally eats her own shit, so.. This was such a disappointing meal I would never entertain ordering from this place again. read more

The most Celiac friendly restaurant I have visited! Almost everything on the menu either is or can be GF. I ordered fried haddock with macaroni and cheese- both were delicious. My friend ordered Buffalo chicken Mac n cheese- he said that was good. Another friend ordered a Phili cheesesteak and he said that was good too. Service was great and friendly. While the food is good and they have a great gluten free selection, the owner is horrible and needs to learn how to interact with the customer. Our group played trivia every other week and spent a lot of money on food and drinks. One member of our group was treated like a criminal when he presented a gift certificate for payment. Another time we were told we couldn't bring Christmas cookies in. That would be okay except he was downright obnoxious. Needless to say, he has lost our business. Reyman & David are some great guys, and it shows how much dedication and hard work they put into their business. Every time that I go to the Starlite Room I am always greeted with a "hey kids!" and a big smile. David is a genius in the kitchen and Reyman is one amazing bartender. Not impressed... I order 2 different styles of mac n cheese. Total $40. That not the problem. Lobster not even remotely enough lobster in there to any over 12 bucks. Then the chicken wing dip just bland. Serving size you can get more at Mooney's for this price. Sorry but really not. Do better I know it can be better. 2.5 out of 5. The Starlite Room is an amazing gem in the city of Elmira. Unassuming from the outside, you never know what fun you're in for when you enter! I've been to several charity drag show fundraisers, a jazz jam session, classic rock jam session, several ladies nights, and the occasional drop in. The food David makes is always fantastic- whether you're looking for a full meal or a tasty appetizer. My sister and I love to split the white garlic pizza and cheese & veggie plate. The drinks are awesome. Reyman and Jenne will try making anything and I have gotten in the habit of walking in and asking for a mixed drink that's chocolatey or fruity, etc. And my go-to is Reyman's Island Punch - yum!! There are a wide array of bottled and draft beers, and white & red wines. But the best part? The people. On September 24th, we held a 30th year reunion party for staff of the BSU (St. Joseph's Hospital) at the Starlite Room. Dave Ripley and his crew did an amazing job! The venue was decorated perfectly and the food was great. Especially the top secret macaroni and cheese. He arranged a wonderful cake for us as well. The price could not be beat per person. Amazing place. From the Bay Area in CA, temporarily in NY, we were immediately made to feel welcome here. Reymon made me laugh so much my jaw hurt, and Jenny makes cosmic Cosmos (seriously, try one). Everyone here was very friendly to us and they have a comedy open mic on the first Thursday of the month, as well as live music events. Although we only had fries and such, the menu looks great. This place is the best venue in Chemung County for live Music. The top local bands perform regularly on weekends and the Proprietors and staff are cordial and fun-loving.
