I have lived near this gem for years, and I finally got a moment to stop in. My oat latte was really good. When you dine in, they give it to you in an actual glass cup. I ordered the organic eggs, provolone and red peppers sandwich. It wasn't a preheated ultra processed sandwich, it was a delight. I sat in the cafe area. It was slightly busy, but people were still able to get their work done. I will come back. FYI this is a vegetarian cafe. read more

I really wanted to like this coffee shop, but the experience left a bad taste that had nothing to do with the coffee in particular. The atmosphere feels less about serving good coffee, but more about pushing a woke agenda, like Starbucks does. If you're a respectful customer looking for a simple, friendly interaction, don't expect to find it here. The staff come across as dismissive, almost like they're doing you a favor by taking your order. What's worse is how they treat people who are genuinely interested in working there. Unless you're a teenager, don't bother. They make it clear they only want to hire from the younger crowd, which is both unfair and disrespectful toward adults who are looking for honest work. A good coffee shop should be about good service, good drinks, and respect for both its customers and employees. Unfortunately, this one seems to have lost sight of that. read more

Went to the Station specifically because I saw online that they have vegan options. I'm not vegan but my friend is. We both tried vegan sandwiches with vegan bacon. They were tasty. I tried a chai latte & it was amazing. The atmosphere is welcoming and a great place to catch up with an old friend. We spent hours and nobody put any pressure on us to move along. Along with good food, there are also works of art for sale and knick nacks, candles, soaps, stickers etc. The staff was very nice and helpful. read more

What a hidden gem in the Merchantville! From what I was told, it used to be a train station stop which is now converted into an unassuming coffee / sandwich shop. My friend and I found this during a walk and ended up getting some crepes. This is definitely a very laid-back, low key establishment; which is exactly what I've been looking for. No rush, no fuss. I really enjoy this low key coffee shop in the middle of Merchantville. We've stopped in a couple of times now for espresso just before they close. To me, this is what I want a coffee shop to be: quiet, in a walkable area, with a relaxed air about it. I enjoy how everything moves slower here, a reminder to stop for a minute in your day. I really like that it is right on the walking trail and I like that they sell some local makers' stuff in there. I wish that they were open a bit later, as there have been a couple times that we came by and were disapointed to see that they were closed. One of these days I'll have to try some of their food. Love this spot! I have rare days off, but love to come in when I do, get a good coffee drink or a snack, catch up up writing some snail mail or read a book. They have a great selection of fun, unusual and pretty gifts and greeting cards that I always check out. They also have a variety of classes available through the year and I believe occasionally live music outside during the Farmer's Market. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and lovely to hang out on during spring, summer and fall. A true small town gem! read more

I have been going here for months and just decided to write a review! This place is one of the more unique places in the center of Merchantville. Opened by a young couple, who moved here quiet a few years ago, this place brings art and character to Merchantville! They have a different selection of freshly prepared cookies and pastries everyday. And a wide selection of coffees, espressos and teas! I stop here often before work to get a coffee and often find myself leaving with a cookie as well. All the employees are young and kind and are usually awesome with preparing your drinks (or brunch/lunch/dinner). I've tried the vegan chili, egg sandwiches and fruit/yogurt cups and enjoyed them all! Definitely come here and check it out! I really hate to contribute this image but I personally would want to consider these things before I try out a new place. I have been to The Station a good amount of times and for most visits, I was there for a long time span and I never saw any insects; however, today I saw this. I always felt that the station was kept tidy and I've smelled cleaning supplies before closing so I feel that they must try to be hygienic.. I kept coming back because the atmosphere was nice, it was never too crowded, I felt like the restroom was clean every time, and I liked their coffee. I will not return after this incident and after reading a previous review about mice. Aside from this visit, I had a positive experience but I just can't get over this. read more

we frequent the station for all of the amazing things it has to offer: coffee (of course), treats (some of the most delicious baked goods you can get - seriously!), service (love everyone who works here), bagels and sandwiches (all so yum and lots of options), and gifts (my son is always picking up a new bouncy ball and i love browsing all the lovely earrings). been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. a few important words of advice: - treat yourself to a baked good - they are all fresh, they are all delicious (ummmm blondies, muffins, brownies, and alllll the sweet breads) - sit outside and hang (it's such a great part of town to just sit and chill for a little) - their catering trays and whole sweet breads (they freeze well) are awesome. order some! highly recommend this gem! xo read more

While looking online for coffee places that were open late on a Sunday afternoon, I remembered reading about The Station opening up in the old Merchantville train station. There're only a few cafes open past the early afternoon on weekends, if at all, in South Jersey, so I was happy to read that The Station was open until 9pm. Looking to get some work done, we headed over with our laptops to check this place out. First things first, the space has been beautifully transformed into a modern and casual cafe. There's lots chalk boards, funky displays, cool gray paint, and wooden features throughout. It has huge windows and a large back area, so the space is filled with a decent amount of natural light. We ordered some drinks, which was mostly alright, though there was some confusion over how to make an iced latte. Most places that do it regularly put ice and milk in a glass then add two shots of espresso, but I think the woman behind the counter frothed my milk before icing the whole thing. Not terrible, but not the kind of standard iced latte. It just must not get ordered that regularly. A little bit later we came back to order food. We went with the panini sandwiches, which were pretty good. The bread was crusty, which I love. And the ingredients tasted fresh. It was a little naked on the plate, with no accompanying salad or chips, which I'd expect from most places, but overall I enjoyed what I got. I'd order it again. One awkward thing was that the music, which I normally don't notice or care about, was actually pretty grating. Whatever they had on ended up playing the same Jamiroquai song 4 or 5 times over the course of our visit. I normally wouldn't write about something like this, but I really hope they fix this and get a paid subscription to a service like Pandora or Spotify. Overall, it's great to see a cafe come in to such a unique old structure, and I'm sure they'll smooth out the wrinkles as they go. This could easy become a destination coffee house for Merchantville, which is key for the success of any successful downtown strip. read more

The coffee is alright. Not bad but not the best too. We ordered one regular coffee n it didn't seem to be really strong n the other latte was okay too. The place has a good ambience, it is pretty hipster on the first floor with pretty arts and funky furnitures. But the upstair gallery was not really impressive. Apparently they hold art classes upstairs too. Overall experience it's ok. I won't get out of my way just to come here for coffee. But I would stop by if I am in town. One more thing I like about this place is that it helps collect donation for the ppl in needs. read more

This is the best coffee shop around. They roast their own beans and make very good drip coffee and espresso drinks. I go there whenever I'm home, if I have work to do, or just want to drop by for a good brew. They also make good food: baked goods, soups, sandwiches, and quiche. I've never been disappointed and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the area. Another nice thing is that the owner is trying to make The Station a local art space. It has a nice vibe inside--people bring their families and pets, high schoolers hang around, and local art hangs from the walls. Come enjoy! read more

An excellent local cafe in Merchantville. Very good filter coffee as well as espresso drinks. Super friendly staff. They also serve a nice selection of light food, like egg sandwiches or yoghurt with fruit. The station is well suited to both grab your coffee to go, as well as sit down and relax with your kids on a sultry summer afternoon. There are toys that will keep your kids occupied. There is a farmers market on weekends, and local artists are featured inside on the walls inside. All in all, a terrific cafe with local flavor and international influences. read more

A great local coffee shop that is hidden in the heart of Merchantville! There isn't much of a sign to designate the building, but it is the old train station in front of the bike trail. They make a great selection of coffee drinks as well as food and baked goods. I tried the iced Americano made with coconut water and it was delicious! Very creative. I have come here several times and enjoyed the food and coffee a lot. It's a fairly large space and it *has* been a great, quiet spot to get work done in between meetings. This morning, there was a gigantic group of parents and children under five. Initially they were upstairs and I was able to find a spot downstairs to have some quiet and get work done. This group then progressively moved downstairs and progressively took over the *entire* place. Children were being allowed to scream, run around, climb all over tables, bang toys, and generally be extremely disruptive. I love kids but this was absurd. None of the parents seemed at all concerned about the fact that I and a couple others were obviously sitting there trying to work. The parents were louder than the children in some cases, loudly talking across tables and generally not caring about anyone else but themselves. The staff did/said nothing and it seems as though this is perfectly acceptable in this coffee shop. I get that kids are loud and rowdy but the fact that I had headphones in and could still not concentrate because of the loud noises, children and parents leaning over my space, and general lack of regard for anyone else in the space was incredibly rude. If this is a "kids" coffee shop, it should be labeled as such (though I've seen kids here before who have been relatively quiet, played with toys and weren't allowed to scream/climb/run all over). I ultimately left and likely will not return any time soon. read more

My older son, who has lived in Brooklyn and now lives in Berlin, Germany and knows something about coffee cafes, recently decided that the Station House is his favorite cafe IN THE WORLD. The station is the only cafe in town. It's the old Merchantville train station and has been transformed into a cafe/restaurant/art gallery/gift-shop/activity center. It seems to want to make itself over into the social center of the town and yet it sits largely empty. After going here a few times its pretty obvious why. The food, coffee and pastry are all mediocre and overpriced. The service is friendly, if also apathetic. The walls are a sad gray, which belies the colorful exterior. The artwork on the walls is all available for purchase, if you happen to have a few hundred dollars to spare. In other words, no matter how many times you patronize this establishment, you're treated like a stranger by the various staff members, though they are all polite enough. I always feel like they feel like they're doing me a favor whenever they serve me anything--like I'm interrupting their playing on their phone time, or something. Recently, the owner also locked the bathroom permanently , and insist that only customers may use it, and now must request a key, which in such a small town, is a bad move. If someone has to go to the bathroom, let them go--they might be a regular customer who didn't purchase food THAT day. Personally, I find this move consumer hostile, especially in an establishment that is so unpopular, considering that it is the only place to hang out in the whole town that doesn't serve booze. One disturbing incident I had: I was reading in the "dining area" (I believe I had coffee and a pastry, so I wasn't freeloading), when I spotted a mouse scurrying under the only small couch in the establishment (the uncomfortable seating is another issue). I promptly reported the mouse spotting to the person at the front counter, because it's a health issue when there is food service, and was told that they had a pest problem. This leads me to believe that mice have been spotted by others. Would you want to eat anywhere after seeing mice? I don't, and I wouldn't. No one is more saddened by this poor review than me, as I think the station has a lot of potential, but currently, that potential remains unrealized. read more

They have impressive art (for sale) on the walls. And the place is kid oriented with out being over whelming. A great place for enjoying leisure at any time with or without your kids. This is a great little Coffee Spot all of their products are organic and green I love that part the black and tan coffee is amazing I always get it with Hazelnut and iced. The vegetable pies that she has made every morning are so good I take it home and pop it in the toaster oven to make it flaky again. I also love the spinach feta and egg on a croissant the inside is always clean the bathroom is always clean the service is always great and it's in a nice little location with outside seating throughout the summer they have a great farmers market right outside of the coffee shop on Saturday mornings. I've been coming to the station for a long time and have been a huge fan, but quality in service and food has dropped recently. The food used to be really well prepared and fresh. Most recently, it is not so well made and sides are very obviously microwaved. Over cooked eggs. Basic things. This is a higher end coffee house in a nice little town and they have recently begun locking their bathroom and making you get a key from the counter. I find this to be completely unacceptable in a place that sells $3 coffee and $9 avocado toast. I did mention to the girl running the counter that this change was distasteful and I would appreciate if she would let management know a customer complained about it, and she tried to engage me in argument telling me that "lots of places do it." No. They don't. Not in this area. Especially if they are trying to be a coffee house/art center. My local Starbucks certainly doesn't and they get far more foot traffic. Signage and calendars in the place are also out of date, advertising events already past. I'm am honestly hoping the owners are on vacation or something because I would really love to be able to come on and modify this review, because I really did like the place but seriously. I won't ask to get a key from the kid running the counter. I'll just go somewhere more hospitable. read more
