Found out about this bar in Tinley Park waiting for a train to come by. It actually is located close. The Station has mostly booze but there's also a few things to eat too. A great place for watching games. You can also play games on slots. Coming here it actually looked like it was closed. It's actually got newer hours and they're open a lot. This is set up like some kind of Irish pub. A lot of booze at the bar. There's also a kitchen where the greasy air comes out. It's about $8 to get a basic cocktail. There's mostly vodka but some whiskeys. It's about $5 to get an appetizer. There's chips and onion rings. Great place to make a stop before going. It's closed Mondays. There's fun things like slots or you can watch football on TV or wherever. read more

The team there was professional and very accommodating. I was able to set up the night before and decided table arrangement to fit my needs. Used to patronize when it was Laverys and then Lubys. Went once since it became the Station. Not sure why we never returned. Got a coupon in the mail a few weeks ago. Have been there twice in the last 10 days. First, staff and service is awesome. Hot bread and bruschetta is served and is delish. Wine pours are average. Mixed drinks were perfect and the draught beer was cold and fresh. First time we ordered Buffalo wings, rueben sandwich, and fried chicken that was served with baked potatoe and a veggie mix. All were very good. The fried chicken was crispy and cooked to perfection. The rueben was served open faced with house made thousand island. It was delish! Was there last night and we ordered patty melt and fries and butt steak sandwich on garlic served with a salad. The salad was cold, fresh and served with house made creamy garlic. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly. It was very good sandwich. The patty melt was perfect. Beefy, cheesy oniony with perfectly toasted buttered rye. The prices here are more than fair. I love my dish. My daugther had coconut shrimp and that was also very good. You get reasonable good food for its value. The restaurant has been open for about a month. Their menu is typical American. Came here last night to meet with friends for the Eastern Conference finals of NBA. My wife and I were famished so we ordered from the menu as well. The dinner menu in my opinion is a little too ambitious in scope. The ambiance is more like a sports bar yet 75% of the menu is steaks and seafood. They still had a small burger and sandwich list but minor compared to the $30 entree steaks. $2 pints of Miller Lite so you could have beverages on the cheap at least. I ended getting the chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce and my wife the salmon dinner. -My chicken sandwich was large and juicy at least but was half expecting it to come with ranch or blue cheese on side considering I ordered buffalo style. The fries were terrible though cold and unseasoned. -My wife's salmon came with a salad which was average. Her entree was nothing to write home about (steamed veggies that were previously frozen) and a small strip of salmon that had no seasoning on it whatsoever. Something weird was going on with the bar maids that evening as well. They were completely rancid to each other in passing and would take prolonged breaks from the bar. A decent portion of the time they would be on the other side of the bar goofing off with regulars. Sorry but that's not a professional or respectable way to be running a service business. I probably would not return unless obliged to by friends again. Shame as it is right next to where we live. read more

We have now been here 3 times over the past 5 years. The first time it was absolutely horrible. The second time, they changed their look with a remodel but the food was still horrible. 2 years later, we decided to give them one last try. We wend to eat on Friday at 6pm, which a restaurant on a Friday night should be packed. We were one of 3 tables, not a good sign. My wife ordered the chicken parm sandwich and I ordered the special which was the all you can eat fish fry. The special was okay, nothing too bad, nothing to rave about. It was as good as I expected for what seems to be a failing restaurant. The chicken parm, that was a completely different story. When it arrived the breading was separating from the chicken, not like it didn't have enough egg, it came off like a blanket with the underneath being a bit slimy. The chicken was grey which was the biggest issue. The homemade chips were burnt also. We sent it back and my wife just ordered the baked french onion soup with a fried app selection. The soup was almost as thick as stew, cool with melted cheese. Meaning it was most likely heated in a microwave briefly and then melted cheese in the oven. It had a that I would say was more of a gravy and not that of soup. The fried apps had cheese sticks, chicken tenders, 1 popper, onion rings and something else. It is a mystery still! I asked the server what those were and she said the poppers, I showed her the popper and then she replied "I don't know what that is, maybe something new". Although the service was quick, the server seemed uninformed and more anxious to get back in the bar area. By the time we left, the other 2 table had left, one more came and left before us. When we left, we were the only table. 7:15 on a Friday night and not 1 table. We gave this place 3 chances and won't be back for a 4th. We like to support local businesses and I will pay extra to stay in town. After all, if the local businesses do well, our community does well. read more

I ordered the ribeye special which is loaded on top with 'shrooms, grilled onions, melted bleu cheese. Out of this world. You CANT NOT order the onion loaf! We have been to the previous incarnations of this restaurant, most recently Luby's. Thought we would give The Station a try. Bar was packed with regulars. Got a table and waited a bit for drinks as it seems like there was one waitress for the whole place. Looked at the menu and noted that it seemed fairly pricy for a local place and that prices were similar to Cooper's Hawk without the service or the atmosphere - but they did include choice of soup or salad and mixed vegetables. My wife settled on the Veal Piccata and me the NY Strip. Salads came with fairly good blue cheese (wife) and Garlic (me) dressing. OK salads, mostly traditional supper club fair. My wife asked whether the veal was thin and the waitress suggested that the cook could pound it for her. It came with choice of pasta. Mine came with mixed veg and I ordered a baked. Bread and bruschetta came before the meal as it always has - and it was good (in fact the same as it has always been). My wife's veal arrived and it was a bowl of pasta with veal on top slathered in flour-thickened grayish gravy. There were capers in the gravy but beyond that, it was the only thing that resembled Veal Piccata. My steak came. I ordered it medium-rare anticipating it would likely arrive medium. It arrived medium-well. But the meat was fairly good quality. The veg was cold and so was my potato. I waited quite a long time until the waitress returned to tell her and asked for steak fries. Fries arrived, but crinkle cut (we saw steak fries pass us by for another table) but they were hot. For the price, neither food nor the service was that good. I'm not sure why they don't just stick with burgers and bar food and be a bar. It looks like they have good regulars there and unless they focus on better quality or just simplify I'm not sure how they will succeed. We need good dining options in Tinley and I do wish them luck. But when I can go to Baily's for a burger, or Cooper's Hawk for a very good filet and well-prepared sides... I can't justify the price point for the quality. read more

We had dinner this past Friday. The food was ok, not great but definitely not terrible either. The problem I had was the ants crawling all over the wall next to me and then on the table. We did have to change tables because of it. The busboy was excellent. He was very attentive with helping us move and refilling drinks for us. The waitress was a bit loud and rude. My husband and I live in Tinley Park and we like to visit local places, so we figured we would give the station a shot. I will say that this is one of the worst meals my husband and I have had in a long time. My husband ordered their pub burger medium and it came back well done. The taste of the burger he compared to liver. I ordered a new York strip steak, and the meat was chewey and a weird grayish color. We had pretty good service so would be a good place to visit for some drinks but will never eat there again. read more

The Station seems to be a bit of a confused restaurant. I agree with another reviewer that it looks like a bar, but has pretty expensive menu items. My friend and I came during the week and there was maybe only 5 other people there and it was a much older crowd, which isn't a big deal just an observation. Our waitress definitely didn't seem thrilled to be working that evening and wouldn't give any suggestions when asked. I ordered a French Dip and fries and my friend had the Chicken Parm sandwich. this was our first visit and we may give it another shot. First the staff was GREAT..very attentive, warm and welcoming although I do agree with a previous poster about getting them uniforms. The bartender can make a mean apricot stone sour which impressed me tremendously! the food was OK, not bad but not memorable either except for the tomato, onion and black olive topping they brought out for the bread-fabulous! The ambience is a tad cold, almost like a cafeteria or diner..with the train/station motif they could make it really really warm and cozy which would help a lot. I had the fish and chips which were not bad but not great...waffle fries kind of bland (maybe frozen) and not sure if the cod was also. the minestrone soup was good. Found this place in yelp thought we give it a try during lunch break.l with a co worker, walked in we were acknowledged and seated quick. After that we ordered it was all good at first until we were waiting for our burger to come out, we waited 45 min for two burgers to be cooked being the 2 out of 5 customers in the whole restaurant. The waitress service was alright not the best but she did bring the drink right when we ran out I would rate this place a 2 star because the burger was a decent burger and we were seated quick, the reason for such a low score they took very long with our food it's during lunch time they should acknowledge that and have a sense of urgency with customers food. Good lord! This place must not normally be this bad--they wouldn't be open for longer than a month if it were. If they were experiencing some sort of problem or issue, nothing was ever brought up to us, which is why I feel the need to log into my rarely-used yelp account to warn others. There's a wise saying that a person can only expect any type of service to be two of these three things at once: good, cheap, and fast; meaning if it's cheap and fast it's not going to be good, if it's fast and good it's not gonna be cheap, and if it's good and cheap it's not gonna be fast. Judging by my family's experience tonight, The Station manages to be simultaneously none of these three things. In spite of almost no one being in there on a Saturday night (maybe 12ish other diners and a couple people at the bar) our waitress (no introduction- middle aged, short, chin-length brown hair) seemed to be in over her head. She seemed super stressed out and treated us rudely, with more of an "ok what do YOU want?" type of attitude (e.g. Lots of sighing when she had to repeat the soup option more than once, etc.) It seems like this woman must not have been a waitress normally, because how could an experienced waitress think that this was an appropriate way to behave, you know? We had a big-ish party (8) including our one year-old and tried nicely mentioning that he was sort of in need of food fairly fast because his mood was quickly deteriorating and that we were ready to order our entrees when she first came around for drink orders. Surreally, this was met with opposition ("Well, I'm gonna take your drink orders and appetizers first before you order food"). She ended up allowing us to order our meals at that point after she sensed our distaste with her response, but ordering food off the bat seemed like a foreign concept to her (-I mean, a person they pulled off the street could have done at least as good of a job, which is why I really think something must've been going on tonight- like maybe they were short-staffed and this was the bartender or somebody's wife or friend or something? It was weird.) Fast forward one full hour of sitting in a 2/3rds empty restaurant- me trying desperately to keep my kid from having a meltdown (he's usually going to bed at time of night) and that's when dinner salads and soups begin appearing. Wrong stuff to wrong people- not a big deal, but this was again treated as if it was somehow our fault, like we were trying to pull one over on her by being delivered each other's orders. It took another half hour to bring out the actual meals. Aside from an over-done burger and a truly gigantic chicken parm sandwich (that my brother seemed to think had been microwaved judging by the mushy-yet-tough texture of the bread) everyone else had fish or pasta- two dishes not normally known for ungodly long prep times. In honesty, my food was not bad, but probably in the neighborhood of 30% overpriced for what you're getting. Our waitress seemed to cheer up towards the end of the night- perhaps attempting to salvage a decent tip, perhaps out of some sort of acknowledgment of her unpleasantness- I don't know. No one in my family will ever be going back to The Station, and judging by the lack of any sizable weekend dinner crowd- we aren't the first to reach this conclusion. read more

The absolute worst experience. I took the time to make a reservation. They had my name, email and cellphone number. We traveled 20-25 minutes to pull up to a empty restaurant. We proceeding in and the Hostess stated that they closed early because business was slow. Did you think to call and notify your customer. Tableclothes might make give it a better feel. We were there on a Friday night around 7 and the dining room was almost empty. I went today at 11:35A.M. to The Station. There were 2 of us there. We waited 10 minutes and no one came out. There was no Hostess, no Bartender, no Server. Not sure if other reviews are from cranky people or what. We come here regularly for a good lunch or dinner and the food is always really great. Great burgers and patty melts. Love the fries! They've got great french onion soup with a hearty amount of cheese on top. I love their tuna for a healthier option. My boyfriend likes their club sandwich, nice and fresh. We've never had bad food here. We've never had a bad drink either. Gin and tonics, gimlets, martinis, all of them have been excellent. Super clean bathrooms here, that's always a plus because we know that means the kitchen is probably clean too. Service is great. I've been here when there was only one server on duty and she had an unexpected late night rush. She was definitely busy but she got us all our stuff promptly. Twice a year my five High School Friends and I go out for Dinner as we have been doing for over 40 years and for the last 8 we have been meeting at the Station Pub and Eatery in Tinley Park,Il previously called Luby`s. Just this past Friday night we met at the Station at 6 PM for Drinks to socialize and catch up on what is going on in each others lives and then at 7 PM we sit at the same table in the Bar that is always reserved for us and we all order the same menu item that has become a tradition for us and that item is the King Cut Prime Rib. After eating a delicious Salad and some warm bread our Prime Ribs were served and all 6 of us could not get over the size of the Prime Rib and I knew a Doggy bag was going to go home with me.The first bite of our Prime rib was so good and juicy that the conversation halted and all 6 of us focused on eating this delicious piece of meat in front of us. My meal came with a double Baked Potato and green beans. It was without a doubt the best Prime Rib i ever ate and i had so much to take home that my Wife who is not a steak eater tried it and agreed the Prime Rib was very tasty.There was a nice crowd in there Friday and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We know we all did and can hardly wait for our next Dinner at the Station Pub and Eatery as a group.I think my Wife and i will be coming back this Sunday,maybe for the Fried Chicken and Salmon but who knows we might both order the delicious Prime Rib.
