Since recently moving here, we really wanted to like this place - but unfortunately it was a swing and a miss. Staff was friendly, but inattentive. Food was disappointing overall. One meal was made incorrectly and after waiting awhile for it to return our server told us that the chef was being difficult; which is definitely an odd thing to say to a customer. My family went to social 45 for an Easter brunch. Our seating time was 10am. We were told at our 10 am seating that we could go up to the buffet line soon, it was 15 minutes. The majority of the food was cold,not warm much less hot. The prime rib was very rare, very. No option for med. The coffee after finishing the cup had grounds in the bottom of the cup. The gravy for the mashed potatoes was in a crockpot. I guess they ran out of chafing dish. We told the server that the prime rib was too rare to eat and she smiled and walked away. I did get sick from this food and vomited this am. This was a $60 an adult buffet. We sent a email to the GM. This is his response. Thank you so much for coming out to our Easter brunch at Social 45. I am truly sorry to hear you had such a negative experience. We do not take this lightly. We appreciate you informing us about this matter so that we can make the necessary adjustments to ensure future guests have the best experience possible. Although you made it clear that you do not intend to return, this is not the outcome that we hope for. We would love the chance to make up for your unfortunate experience. To say amazing is an understatement! I was blown away .. everything was great ! Server Zoey kept up on refills and was great! I have celiacs and can't have gluten. In a strip mall you would think eh on the food. Newsflash! It was delicious. I mean you would not think this would be as good as it was. It was a Tuesday and early so not crowded. They advertise live music so I assume that gets the place hopping. It does lack on ambiance but the decor is nice but boring. Outdoor seating for the nice days. We had the Ahi Tuna Tostadas. Shocked they were so good! Had seaweed and a sauce and tons of tuna. Get them! They had specials and my friend had a mahi-mahi dish which she liked. They change them every week. I went for a ribeye steak sandwich on garlic bread and provolone cheese as I skipped the other toppings- tender, could use a little seasoning- cooked to my liking. Fries were cooked as they should be and my friend kept stealing them! Cheesecake for dessert. They got a few sales off of us enjoying it as everyone around us ordered it! It's a hidden gem as it's unassuming in the strip mall. The bartender was friendly and talked to everyone. Poured a good drink. If you live in the area, that should be your local hang out as prices are reasonable and food is very good. read more

This was my first time here. The hubby and I decided to go after seeing the latest Captain America movie at the Emagine movie theater nearby. When we arrived, we were so surprised there was so many people. It had a bar and party atmosphere. Well on our way to the seats, we overheard one of staff tell some guests next to our table apologizing for the wait, but they are understaffed today. This was on Thursday, February 13th, and I believe a lot of people were out celebrating Valentine's Day early, like we were. Anywhoo, there was a large gathering at the back of the restaurant, so I told my husband if we have to keep waiting, we may have to go to another restaurant. After 10 minutes we finally got water, but it wasn't until another 30 minutes we were asked for our order. Literally as my husband was about to call North and Maple to see what was the wait time at their restaurant, a waitress came and took our order. We ended up ordering: * Fried Chicken Bites w/garlic parmesan and ranch sauces * West Coast Smash Burger included avocado and bacon * Grilled Rib Eye Steak sandwich - on a garlic roll with a side of grilled onions and mushrooms * Truffle Fries Our food came at a decent time. We really enjoyed the fried chicken bites, the sandwiches were a different story. Both the hubby and I felt the sandwiches were bland. He said if it wasn't for the bacon, he wouldn't have finished it. I only ate half of my sandwich. We both liked the truffle fries that came with our sandwiches. I asked the waitress for a side of the garlic parmesan sauce to take home with the 1/2 of rib eye sandwich that I didn't finish. That was an extra $0.50 charge, but that's okay. When I ate the other 1/2 of sandwich the next day, it tasted glorious with that sauce. I was like why aren't they including this sauce on the sandwich! It's a missed opportunity! read more

First time here with a friend for dinner. Not being strangers to each other, we'd hope the server would understand that we'd like some time to talk before ordering anything to eat. I ordered a beer, which on the menu states it's served in a can. I had to ask for a glass. After giving us our drinks, she was back three times in less than 15 minutes to take our order. The table areas around the bar were empty except for us, likely a slow nite due to the extreme heat spell. We ordered appetizers, they were fine, but much smaller portions than I've had at other restaurants for a comparable price. The grilled ribeye steak sandwich was good, but it had a lot of fat on it. We had leftovers and they were boxed for us. Come time to take the leftovers out of the fridge the next day, I was surprised to see the restaurant separated the steak sandwich from the fries using a piece of newspaper, a paper called "World Daily News". The paper has a lovely subtitles "The World's Source for Good News". Nice to hear they read something positive, but I think it's unsanitary to use someone's newspaper for packaging leftovers for a customer. read more

One would think that paying $29.00 for a braised beef rib would come with the "whipped" potatoes being made fresh and not instant mashed potatoes. The waitress, came back and asked how I wanted it cooked, rare, medium or well done. This clearly was an alert that the person doing the cooking did not know what they were doing. The finished dish was not palatable. This rib was very dried out and had no au jus to add some moisture to this dried out meat and no gravy. The instant potatoes had no butter, no flavor but plenty of gritty flakes. There was absolutely nothing offered to the meal. No bread not even a spring of green added to the plate of inedible food. We went there to meet with a group of people proximately 1214 people and they were just gonna order appetizers for the table, but my wife and I hadn't had dinner and we wanted to order food so I ordered a diet soda and a glass of water and chicken wings and a salad. My wife ordered a flatbread the salad and the flatbread came out in about 30 minutes. The wings came out in an hour and 40 minutes. I had to ask for them three times before they brought them out. This is a reincarnation of the restaurant that was there before name Jimmy's and we went to Jimmy's a couple times and all the food was decent. The service was so slow that we never went back the same menu that they have now still refers to Jimmy's this and Jimmy's that I believe it's the same owners and the service has not improved. She's so attentive and I wish she was at every restaurant I went to. This place has excellent bar and comfort food and we will definitely be back. Made a reservation for 7:15, and we were seated promptly in an area where the temperature was probably 80 degrees with no fans going. Went up to hostess and asked about temperature, her response was "well I'm hot, too" and moved us to an area where there was a little more air flow. We sat for about 15 minutes without a server. Finally a server walks up and says "I'll be with you in a few minutes." Another 15 minutes passed and still nobody took even our drink order. At this point, a band starts to play in the already overly loud area we were seated so we had to scream to hear each other. We finally decided to just leave and THEN someone came up and asked if something was wrong and if they could help us. Horrible experience. Will never go back. read more

My friend and I met here for a long-awaited reunion. We had worked together for a decade; she had retired and moved out of state. We conveyed that to the staff as we arrived, noting that this would be epic. Having both been in the service industry we chose a high top in the bar rather than taking table space in the dining room. As soon as we sat down the waitperson asked what we wanted to drink. We reviewed the wine list, made selections and those were delivered quickly. Our waitress asked if we were ready to order appetizers. No, we just received our wine and wanted to chat. Five minutes later - no. Third time we ordered some calamari (served with fried jalapenos) and a second glass of wine each. The calamari was terrifically prepared, although a second lemon wedge would have been a no-brainer. We decided to split a Caesar. It was very good albeit without anchovies. Most don't like them but some need the protein (vegans like my friend) and I love the flavor. The lettuce was crisp but not drained well. Not rocket science. But it was three hours later so the third glass of wine mediated the issue. The wait person needs finesse which comes with experience and training. When I was young I am certain I interrupted intense/romantic/conversations of all kinds. Listen and learn body languages. The art of stepping aside and disappearing within plain sight is Sherlock Holmes like but it works. Guys sitting at the bar stared as we laughed heartily. Old retired women? Ha! We visited this new spot while in Chicago, it has a lot of seating area and we were able to get in. I had a coconut island themed drink that was really good and would definitely recommend it. The Bruschetta bowl was also definitely an unexpected treat! I had the chicken sandwich which was unfortunately bland and I couldn't eat it. We had Saturday night free so we decided to try somewhere new. I will say we were both pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the live music awesome. I had the Stack house smash burger which is two 1/4 smash patties with cheddar cheese, bacon, onion rings, BBQ sauce, lettuce, and beast sauce with sweet potato fries. The burger was cooked perfect and the flavor was great. My wife had french onion soup and the prime rib and she loved both of them. The portion on the prime rib was huge. I want to like this place, but it's hard to. I've been here twice and the servers and staff are friendly but the kitchen is incredibly slow - about 1.5 total hours from start to finish for a party of 7 both times I've been there. Their appetizer portions are small for the price and the fried mozzarella definitely tasted freezer burned. Entrees are generous but don't really standout. Smash burger was fairly bland and unseasoned, I had mine with bacon and the bacon was overcooked and not particularly good. Even their fries are meh. They were unevenly cooked, some crispy, some soggy. I want to like it because there is clearly good people involved on the wait staff and the ambiance and location is nice but I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Ever since it got the Social 45 name things have been going downhill. Food is not as good, tables are sticky, no one is in the place. I have been there 3 times since the change. One can only guess the number of restaurants that have been in this location over the years, Mind Boggling, Buffets, Bars, Deli, you name it. I hope the current incarnation stays for awhile. The server/bartender was quite attentive and the pacing was spot on. I started with the soup of the day which happened to be Stuffed Pepper, one of my favorites, and their version was outstanding.
