Tonight I was placed alone next to a window, with the server barely spending more than 10 seconds waiting on me--in 50 minutes. Instead, he doted over all of the large groups in my vicinity, promised me a refill on the iced tea, watched me sit there waiting for 30 minutes for a refill, and never provided such. You got it. When I was handed the electronic payment machine...Yupp... he literally stares me down like a back alley shakedown artist. In addition to wearing a scuzzy unkept beard, not advisable for food servers, right?, he actually seems visibly upset when I gave him 16% tip, even asking me "was something wrong?" I know that we are in a small town, and Durango is feeling its growing pains, transitioning from a mountain/railroad rural tourist haven to a high profile mountain resort. But this was so obvious, that it ruined the experience. The burger was well executed and had a nice patina, offering a rewarding crunchy patty exterior. We were visiting our son and his fiancée and came here for dinner. It was a Saturday night and the place was busy. Still, we got a table within 15 minutes. The inside was very cool, with a few tables inside little rooms with windows, and our table was up a small flight of stairs with a few other tables. Our area was Alice in Wonderland themed, with a twisted cabinet and clock (as if you were on drugs), and framed sayings of different Alice characters. There is patio seating. My wife and I had a mandarin orange and almond slivered spring salad with a wonderful lemon vinaigrette dressing, and I had grilled chicken on mine. My wife also got two carne asada tacos she really liked. Our son ordered a flatbread pizza and his fiancée a caprese salad. All the food was delicious. Our son had two beers,his fiancée two mixed drinks, my wife a margarita, and myself a beer. $157 before tip. So, not inexpensive. Ugh. Food was actually ok but the service and attitude was so toxic and patronizing it was the worst experience I have had in years. I worked foodservice for a long time and would never blame, dismiss and insult patrons in the way that our server and the manager did. We were 12 people, and four of us were seated in a position where the setting sun was directly in our eyes. The four of us spent the entire meal, either with a menu in front of our faces, or sitting away from the table, far enough that we had to put plates on our laps because we could not sit at the table without being blinded. The manager blamed us for not moving to a seat on the other side of the table, which quite frankly we could not see because of our position. When we ordered appetizers, our server said we did not designate them as appetizers, and therefore it would come out with the rest of our meal. The other half of the table, the part that could see, had ordered appetizers and got them about 20 minutes before the rest of us got any food. What we had considered appetizers came out, literally two minutes before the entrées, and our server proudly announced that he had brought them out as appetizers. Using a trauma informed approach, I am so sorry for whatever happened to these people. As I started with, the food was actually not bad. But the attitude, the fact that they just did not care about their guests, and chose to blame us for their feelings would prohibit me from recommending this restaurant to anybody ever anywhere. read more

It's an easy 8-minute walk from the DoubleTree, which makes it perfect for a solo dinner or a relaxed night out. Since I was solo, I grabbed a seat at the bar -- and I'm so glad I did. The staff was over-the-top friendly, the kind of team that makes you feel welcome the moment you sit down. Not every place gets hospitality right, but these guys absolutely do. I ordered the Cuban, and it surprised me in the best way. They use BBQ in the sandwich, so it's a different take than the traditional style -- but it was incredibly tasty. I liked it so much I ordered a Philly cheesesteak to go, and that didn't disappoint either. Make sure you try the craft cocktails. They do flavors well -- thoughtful, balanced, and creative without being over the top. You can't go wrong trying a few. The atmosphere is friendly, warm, and easy to settle into. My daughters and I had the pleasure of dining here a couple months ago. We shared some appetizers and all were delicious. The cocktails were unique and so good. We couldn't decide which one we liked best. We especially appreciated our waiter. He was on top of things and was quite funny - just an all around great personality. Let me just start by saying my positive take on this restaurant; the cocktail list is extensive and fun, and the drinks were good. Also, they have a nice ambiance with diverse music. On the downside, the food is not good. I had a southwest salad which had maybe 5 pieces of lettuce and was covered in cheese. I also had an avocado taco that was cold and bland. I expected maybe a fried avocado slice or something, but no. My partner got chicken tacos and he said they were ok. We were in a time crunch and took what we could get, as most places were closing. This place is meh for us. We've visited 3 or 4 times and been consistently UNDERwhelmed by the experience here. The good: nice live music and fun decor. Also has a large enough menu that there's something for everyone. The bad: the quality of the food is inconsistent and the orders have been prepared wrong each time we've visited. Additionally, it's really only for a small group (2 or 4 people) and if you're seating more than 4, you have to sit at a high-top where you can't sit up to the table because there's barrels in the way of your legs. So you're sitting very far away from the table and everyone you're with. The service is also PAINFULLY slow and you can't find someone when you need something... so if your order comes out wrong, you're taking that plate back to the kitchen yourself because nobody is around to help you. We're probably not going back - it's just not a good fit for us and too much hassle for the price. read more

Sit on the patio if you can, there are heaters out there and you can see a view of the mountains. I would have preferred the potstickers to not be fried. But they were still served beautifully.
