We recently purchased 10 Delaware chicks, touted to be able to lay eggs. Of those 10, 5 had to be removed because they started to crow and we live in the city. We heard two more different crows this morning before the coop's automated door opened. The store only let us donate the first rooster. Now they won't take them back. We had bought 10 chicks 2 years ago, 8 being Black Australorps, and none were roosters. What went wrong? read more

The food I purchased made my dog break out into massive allergies....he is miserable. I attempted to exchange the bag for a different brand and they refused to do so. I try to support local businesses. Stock Shop has great selection. My only complaint is on the young Ladies who work the register. I have been there over 10 times in the past 6 months. They seem to have a difficult time when you pay with cash. I witnessed it happen to other customers. As well as myself. These employees don't understand basic math. Using cash and change. Because of this I will take my business elsewhere. To a feed store in Rural AZ. I prefer Country people. They teach their employees simple Math. With the lack of customer service. I have been using the stock shop groomers for a few years. Up until just a few months ago I was happy with the grooming they did. The last time I was there which was about 2 months ago they completely missed trimming the hair around my dogs vaginal area. I had to bring her back to have it all trimmed because the fur was all sticking to her and it was filthy like she wasn't bathed. When I came home my wife asked me if they bathed her because she usually will smell of the perfume in the shampoo and that time she didn't. This time I bring her there and when we got home she smelled nice but she was dragging her butt on the floors and crying. I looked at her butt and saw that on one side they shaved her all the way to her skin and gave her razor burn and it was all irritated and swelled up. I uploaded a picture. She was whimpering all night and I kept putting Neosporin on the area, and to make sure she wasn't dragging her butt around I made her sleep on the couch with me. This morning I used baby wipes to clean the area and treated it again before trying to take her and our Shepherd for their morning walk and I couldn't even get down the driveway because she was crying so much. I went back to Jennifer I believe her name is and asked her what happened and what can be done about it. All she kept saying is I used the same blade for the entire cut. Then she said to take my girl to the vet. I told her who's going to pay for that and she repeated I used the same blade. She didn't offer any kind of ointments that she could have provided or even some sort of discount or pay for the vet or for me to go buy more ointments. What she said was " I know longer feel comfortable cutting your Aussies hair." I told her the same and left. She didn't seem to care that she hurt my girl at all or about trying to rectify the situation. My girls are like my kids and she hurt one of them and showed very little remorse. I trusted her with one of my most valuable family members and now that is gone. She was recommended to me because how she supposedly specializes in Aussies. Well to me we all make mistakes but at least own up to it and take care of the problem not just blow off the loyal customer I had become over the last few years. I have made several other purchases from you store over the years and because of this I will be bringing my business else where. And because of her lax attitude I will also be posting this on every social media site as well as yelp to make the general public aware of what could happen to their pets if brought to your establishment. Out of curiosity, I stopped in one sunny Saturday afternoon. The place was jumpin' -- full of horsey folks and dog lovers. After wandering around for a while, I could see why. Besides the horse supplies, there was loads and loads of premium dog foods, like Canidae and California Gold. I don't usually spring for the high end stuff. So I can't say whether or not their prices were competitive. But as an example, the really big bags were about $45 on average. Also, I loved watching the lil chick peep-peeping about, and the piglets snoozing, and bunnies wiggling their little noses. I'm such a sucker for cute little animals. read more

Although they do sell feed and other farm supplies, pet owners will also find much of what they need for their home animal companions here, as well as some animals for sale which can be home companions. The prices are good and the staff is friendly and helpful. I don't have a pet right now because of apartment rules, but when I get a place of my own, this is one of the places on my list for getting pet supplies, and possibly pets themselves. My favorite place for dog food, treats and toys. I lost one of my dogs last October. My other dog was in serious need of a nail trim. The groomer was quick and efficient as well as knowledgeable and friendly. The whole appointment took mere minutes and my sweet dog was the least stressed she has ever been. We have been long term customers of stock shop, driving 20-30 minutes out of our way to support local small businesses. Kids loved it, the atmosphere always so friendly and welcoming - over the past maybe 6 months or so a lot has changed and it's been nothing but issue. This last visit was icing on the cake. We took our Sheepadoodle to get her hair trimmed and what we got was a complete hack job. For starters, before the groomer even touched my pup she said "I'm going to have to shave her" my dog absolutely did not need to be shaved. Her hair long, yes - but greatly maintained brushed daily and washed/brushed out weekly. Planning vacation we wanted her trimmed shorter. What we wanted vs what we got were two completely different things. At home it takes me 2+ hours every weekend to go through her coat - it took this groomer less than an hour and a half for a paid cut and wash. Nails trimmed, ears cleaned, cut, wash, and dry?? All in an hour?! I was shocked and went to pick her up to have absolutely no words. I could go on and on. On top of that we were quoted a certain amount to then be charged 20$ more at check out. After reaching out and photos being sent I got a text from an employee with a golden doodle who's response was apologetic and even text "Yeah, I have a golden doodle and that's not how a haircut should look." Was told I'd get a call back that following Monday, heard nothing. Waiting a week for a follow up, I had to follow up myself - finally today spoke to the "manager" Danielle who unfortunately is not at all prepared for that title. I was told that she loves the groomer as it's who she uses and basically didn't care that I wasn't happy with our experience. The pictures were sent and she has seen them and in response to them "I'm not a groomer, I wouldn't know good from bad" So with that, I will take she doesn't care or trust our judgement. So here I'll post them and allow everyone have their own opinion on if this a "good or bad" grooming job. How she handled the situation blew my mind. She's unprofessional and I'll leave it at that. I could share so much but I'll take my monthly money spent to any other establishment but this one. I will no longer support this business after today and past situations and I hope no one else deals with a hack job of a groom on their pup. read more

Instead of retraining the ladies up front what fake money looks like or teaching them what deems a US bill as legal tender, they, as a country feed store, decide they'd rather just not accept cash. I will continue to support the nice grooming ladies in the back. The guys in the back are always helpful with chickens and heavy loads. However the owner needs assistance in leading this adorable store. The decision to not take American hard earned money is totally ridiculous. Especially if I am trying to pay a bill with real cash. Touch cash and learn the difference between real and fake instead of avoiding it all together; that is a terrible solution and does not take care of your customer. I've been supporting this business for years but this policy is over the top and upon reading other reviews others feel the same way. If you want customers to return and provide repeat business, tell others how wonderful your store is to increase your profits, please take time to train the ladies up front to be knowledgeable in cash handling like every other organization and small business. owner not apologetic for the problems her establishment caused me, after I fed the horses one time and only half ate, I decided to investigate the hay, yes there was mold throughout the hay, I immediately called stock shop and they would not help, only stated that they would refund me if I trailered the hay back, I went to another place to purchase a couple of bails of hay to get me through the weekend, the horses that did eat hav become colicky and one even has a bumpy texture to his skin, I have contacted my vet and he will be coming out to assess them, after he seen pictures of the horses and hay, he is amazed that the stock shops owner Danielle was so willing to let this happen for profit. I love this store! The staff are all very friendly and informative. They have a wide variety of items for horses (majority) dogs, cats, and more! They even have cute little baby tortoises for sale that I like to peek at every time I go in (= They have an entire wall of high quality dog food brands and varieties that are hard to find elsewhere. Not only is the quality of dog food, toys, and accessories impeccable (many toys made of recycled products!), but the prices are fantastic as well! I wish I would have come here first when stocking up on goodies for my new pup, but I'm so glad to know about it now. Have been a customer of The Stock Shop for over 20 years. Other than one other time ( a similar situation) I have no complaints. Which is why I have steadily used their store for most of my feed for horses, dogs, cats and assorted birds and reptiles since they were a start-up in a little hole in the wall store in a tiny strip mall on thunderbird and 51. Beware! This store has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau. They charged us twice for a several hundred dollar purchase this week. They also sold us 4 bags of grain for our horses that were filled with bugs. We exchanged them for new bags and those were filled with bugs as well. When we called about the double charge to our debit card, they told me they couldn't do anything about it. Call your bank, they said. We are done with this store. With all of these one star reviews in recent months, how can this store show a 4 star rating with Yelp? Again, if you look on the BBB website, they are rated F. I went in to The Stock Shop today on the recommendation of a friend, who was with me. She is a dog breeder, and gets all of her supplies, vaccinations, etc from there, and recommends to all of her clientele that they get their pet supplies there as well. She stayed in the car since she had her daughter with her, and we didn't want to disturb a sleeping infant. I was going in to purchase a replacement rat for my son. His died last night. Since our house hold has lost 2 dogs, and another pet rat in the last few months (all from old age), his 4-year old heart has been broken enough. So, since his pet rat was just a simple colored beige rat, I thought I could replace her and spare him more upset so quickly. I ran in real quick, and tried to find a similar-looking rat amongst their feeder rats. While picking up one at a time, to see if they were docile enough to be a pet, one got away from me and ran under a shelf. I apologized profusely, and felt terrible. The young lady assisting me got perturbed, and told me I should look elsewhere. Feeling awful, I chose one quickly and went to stand in line. I remembered we were out of food, so I ducked into the small pet feed aisle to grab a small box of food. At that point, the young lady that had been assisting me came up to me and said "I informed my manager what happened, and since you lost the rat in the store, they need you to pay for it in addition to the one you chose." I said ok. And she said "I'll wait up front by the cashier so that they know." So, since I didn't have much money this week, I couldn't afford to pay for 2 rats, plus food, so I put the food back. I couldn't buy a pet that I didn't have food money for, so I waited in line for 10 minutes to pay for the rat that got loose. With, of course, the sales associate waiting up there for me to make sure I didn't try to sneak out without paying for it. When It was my turn to check out, I told the cashier that a rat got away from me while I was trying to pick one, so I am going to pay for it, but that I can't afford the 2nd rat as well, since I need to buy food also. I could afford one rat, plus food, but not 2 rats, plus food. So, I then asked her to put the one I had been holding back. She looked at me funny, and I explained that I was only trying to avoid having to tell my son that his pet rat died, which is why I came in looking at them. She said "Ok." and rang me up. I paid her for an animal that was still in the store, and walked out in tears. I got in the car where my friend was waiting, and she asked what was wrong. I told her and she was livid. She had originally planned on going in there after I was done to grab some things she needed for her pups, but she said "I'm not going in there again. They just lost a longtime customer, as well as all the business I send their way." I get that there's a "you break it, you buy it" kind of thing going on, but...I was just surprised at the coldness of the employees. It truly was an accident, and I felt terrible. I'm a single parent, and just wanted to get a pet for my 4-year old son to keep from having to give him bad news. So much for that idea. There were many other folks in there today, so I'm sure many other folks have good experiences there, but their customer service in general seemed to be lacking. No compassion, or relatability. Good customer service means more to many people than a lot of businesses and associates realize. When I have it, I'll spend more money on what I need at a more expensive shop if the owners/staff treat their customers well, especially if it's a Mom & Pop kind of place instead of a major chain. After today, The Stock Shop will not be a place I spend my extra money. But, I'm just one person, and if their treatment is any indication, they don't need my business, anyway. read more

I am not happy with this store and their prices. Every time I go there, they've raised their prices. They say they can't compete with big name stores and online stores. I think that if they didn't have as many girls up at the front desk doing nothing, they might see more profits and not screw the customers. It's too bad they're the only feed store in this area.
