The coaches genuinely care about members and their safety/goals, and are awesome and providing individual feedback during classes. Everyone is super friendly and supportive during workouts, which is really nice because I've been to other gyms that can be intimidating for some. I was a member for about 6 months before moving, and I really do miss this place but it's just too far for me to keep going regularly. If I end up back in the Joliet area, I wouldn't think about joining any other gym. If you're thinking about checking it out, definitely do it.

It makes working out fun and comfortable. All I can say is wow!!! Wish I had joined sooner. The locker rooms are clean and give off a relaxing feel. The fellow members are inspiring, the personal trainers are AWESOME! They give great feed back and words of encouragement. There is a different type of positive energy when walking into this gym. You will definitely get the most out of your workout coming here. Overall, it is a life changing gym experience and I recommend it highly to all my fiends and family. Both the coaches and the athletes will make you feel like you're at home. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable. They truly care about your fitness journey. They know just when to push you, as well as when to hold you back. They also know how to modify a workout to fit any special accommodations you may have. The owners (two of which are also the full-time coaches) are invested in this place and I don't just mean financially. They believe in what they do. You couldn't be in better hands than Coaches Jacqie and Ponce. They will do more than just get you in shape. They will motivate you, teach you, and inspire you. I've known Jacqie for a long time and her dedication to not just bettering herself, but also her clients, is rockstar quality. The pool is large and accommodates upwards of a dozen swim teams at one time. The area gets pretty loud, and in our experience, very crowded due to the limited seating area for a larger event. They do have a small area where you can bring your own folded chair and watch, instead of the bleachers. Just know that people can and will stand in front of you at times to watch their son swim. All in all, we have enjoyed coming here. They have a small coffee/bakery in the lobby that comes in handy. Washrooms are easily accessible adjacent to the pool.

Talk about a full body workout!…read more The team here is excellent and the owner Chris is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Members are equally nice and I can see why community is one of their biggest selling points. Working out is hard if you're not in a routine. It's all about Staying consistent and having accountability. The team here give you specialized coaching and help you reach those fitness goals, whatever they maybe. Workouts can be intense but at the end of them you're on a bit of a high. Workouts range from about half an hour to about an hour. I think they have a free trail so you can check it out and see if it's for you, which was really nice before I committed to paying. They have various packages based on sessions. It's a bit far for me to commit to the unlimited so I like that I can get the 4 or 8 sessions and pop in a few times a month to switch out my workouts and keep it interesting.

A CrossFit gym (or a "box" in the CrossFit world) is kind of underwhelming when you first walk in…read more There isn't much to it. There are some racks, some barbells, stacks of weights, ropes, boxes, and a variety of other stange things. Don't let that fool you. There may not be a whole lot of fancy and expensive equipment that you're used to seeing in other gyms, but this isn't like other gyms, either. Be prepared to train harder than you ever have before. You'll be sweating. You'll be out of breath. You'll be tired. You'll be sore. But, you'll have fun doing it, you'll make friends, and you will soon find yourself looking forward to your next WOD (Workout of the Day) whatever that may be. With CrossFit, each day is different, because each workout is different. You never know what you're getting yourself into, until you show up that day (unless you read the WOD Blog the night before) and with a different workout each time, you won't get bored. The prices are higher here than your typical gym, but there's a good reason for that. You'll have a trainer with you at each session reviewing each excercise before your WOD begins and then individual guidance during your workout. Each of the trainers at Sugar Grove CrossFit are extremely knowledgeable, are willing to help in any way to help you achieve the results you're looking for, and will motivate you when you need it most. I've only been doing CrossFit for a short time now (coming straight off of the couch), but I've already seen dramatic results. I've had success in traditional gyms, but usually something comes up where I lose my motivation and then I stop going altogether. It's different here. Not only because of workouts, but because of the people you'll meet. You will get to know the people here. You will get to know the trainers as well as the people you work out with. They will become your friends and you'll spend time outside of the box with them, whether it's at a charity event like a boxing match or breast cancer awareness WOD, celebrating Black Wednesday, or even attending the upcoming Christmas party. You'll know each other's names and they'll expect to see you in the box - if not, I would imagine/hope that t I'd get a text or a phone call. They say that CrossFit isn't for everyone... but, it should be. Whether you're young and already in shape or middle-aged with a more round shape, this is for you. Your workouts will be tailored to you and your abilities. No matter what, it's going to be hard, but the trainers here won't let you do anything that you shouldn't be doing. So, stop in. Watch a WOD. Ask to try it out. You won't regret it.
