I move to another machine and circle back. Seems like a waste of their membership, though. In the summer, students can get a free membership. I was wary of that, but they're polite and don't cause any trouble. What would I add? A steam room or sauna would be great. And don't get rid of the 30-minute workout area -- lots of us older folk love it!

The gym is great, plenty of cardio equipment and high quality weight machines to go around and a little added bonus- it has a good amount of natural light coming in. They offer a number of fitness classes and in particular they regularly schedule a number of really great Zumba classes with many of the best instructors in the area; try a class with Dillon, Leonora or Jess! The studio space is fantastic with great air flow, a bumpin' sound system and mirrors in the front and on the sides. They often run super affordable punch card specials (especially on or around a holiday) and their desk staff is always friendly and helpful. There is a locker room equipped with lockers, showers and even a basket with random items you may forget like shampoo or lotion. The atmosphere is positive and welcoming which is really important for me. The only downfall is that it's a bit of hike from Burlington; it would be awesome if they opened up a second location in the downtown area so I could ditch my Edge pass. She ran full force into the side of my knee. I immediately went numb from my knee to my ankle and my knee to my hip. After gentle movement to make sure nothing was broken, I could feel something wasn't right. I called Essex PT. I had never been seen as a patient there before so expected to be put on a wait list. They got me in very quickly. Emily assessed my knee, hips, mobility, strength, etc. She gave me some targeted stretches to do each day. I walked out without any pain. I have continued therapy as I am strengthening the muscles that let me down and caused the pinched nerve in the first place. I had also been diagnosed with PMR and the exercises are helping with my flexibility. I am certain that the whole body approach is the best solution for my health. As we age we lose site on how important strength and flexibility are to every day comfort and health. This will also make me stronger and my balance will improve. Soon the doors will be closing. The owner of Synergy is fanatical about keeping the gym clean, equipment in fully operational condition. When you walk in there is a stack of ready disinfectant spray bottles and clean towels. Everyone is expected to wipe down the equipment after use. The customers come in steady but never had I had a time where I couldn't get a workout in. The ages and fitness level varies greatly, so if your a beginner you should never feel intimidated. There are trainers and if you need help you can ask any of us at the gym and we will gladly help. Becca M wrote about a gym goer that was harassing her. She gave a bad review of the gym for that. Did she address it with the owner? You can't slam the gym for what a customer does without giving the owner a chance to address it. There's always going to be some who do not respect others. But my over a year experience at Synergy I have never seen this. Most likely a Female or Male that is in good shape and showing it, others are working out to try to be like them. Hey if you work hard and look good, show it off because it isn't gonna last forever and your in a place that understands what it takes to get there!! Top of the line equipment, clean where you could do floor exercises anywhere and not get up filty. A friendly atmosphere and the classic radio station you can hear but not so loud you can't carry on a conversion with another members. I strongly suggest you give it a try.

They had construction going on at one side of the gym and when I asked the girl at the front desk, she told me the area used to be part of the gym but their next door business took it from them. Which means the gym is getting even smaller. I was like ok, not a big deal at the moment. Last straw that made me decide to leave this place for good and write this review is a harassment from one of the gym goers. I was in the free weights area doing some squats and I noticed a nasty looking creature staring at me and pointing the backside of his phone toward me, most likely filming. I felt very uncomfortable with the amount of staring so I left the room and went to another room to continue my workout with dumbbells. A few minutes later, the same creature came to the room, took off his shirt and started to pose in front of the mirror and kept staring at me. I was completely freaked out at this point so I ended my workout and left the place. The nasty creature is a roided short male covered with long sleeve tattoos on both arms with skull pictures and women, side stomach big skull tattoo, and a big "USAF" tattoo on his chest. If you belong to the USAF or have been at one point in your life, you should live up to the title. What a creepy old man. I have never experienced that kind of behavior at any other gym places I used to go to. I felt gross after this experience. I don't recommend this "gym" to any young woman.

As I searched for Rev's Yelp page to write this review, I expected to see about 20 super positive ones. I was surprised to see just one. But, then again, Vermonters are just discovering Yelp, so I guess it makes sense. Rev was started about year ago by Sarah DeGray in a small space on Pine Street. Sarah has a positive, friendly personality and her spin classes are about as fun as spin classes can be. Just the right combination of challenging and engaging. She also always has great music that really motivates participants. Over the year the studio has developed an almost cult following. People try out the classes and keep coming back. It's very easy to like Sarah and the classes make you feel good. Many newbies are daunted by spin classes. I get it, I used to be the same way. When you've never done a spin class they seem pretty hardcore. The fact is, you start out slow, there is no pressure to do more than what feels good to you, and you quickly see results and feel more fit. Sarah and the instructors are the right combination of motivated and laid back. They want you to feel good about yourself and their classes. In every class people are reminded to move at their own pace. Recently Sarah partnered with Steven Little, a long-time trainer and exercise class instructor who has lived in some of the biggest cities in the US and has pioneered many fitness classes in some of the nation's top gyms. Together, they have relocated to Flynn Avenue, purchased brand new bikes and started offering other types of classes on top of Spin. If you are wanting to get into better shape and don't know where to start, I suggest you visit one of Rev's many free 30-minute classes offered throughout the week.
