We are so happy with our gorgeous shower. He explained what was possible, what was impossible and what was maybe possible! Even when we chose hinges that happened to be the most expensive hinges in the hardware catalogue he explained that each component has a budget and those hinges were way over the shower door budget, but he wanted us to have them if we really loved them, so he would split the cost with us. They WERE pretty spiffy hinges (if you can believe that hinges can be that fancy) but when he told us we had picked out $750 hinges we said, oh no forget it! That's crazy. But he said, well before you say no way, i want you have what you like, so he offered to split it. We would not have added on $750, but for $375, we decided to go for the crazy hinges! We had a pipe in our condo building that needed repair which really took time to get approved for them to continue our project. Shai spoke with the building manager, several times, made them 2 proposals to fix the pipes, and very quickly (once the Board finally approved) fixed it in half a day. At every stage of demo and construction, Shai made sure we were happy and on track! And the price he quoted us on day one, was the price we paid. We needed more grout, more tile, and a few extra visits to change the recessed box and he never said yes but it will cost extra, he delivered what he promised on day 1, which was us, as happy satisfied clients.

Well, he kept his promise and he did text me. His text stated he was "too busy" to make it to the appointment. Not surprising, he didn't offer alternate date and time. I initially hired someone else because they were more friendly--big mistake. I winded up calling Mr. Ortiz to re-do the mistakes the last guy did. The two main things I like about this guy is that he is FAST and EFFICIENT. Inexpensive is an added bonus. I also like the fact that everything is done by written contract. I like paperwork back-up because what's on ink is always good to review when a full-scale re-model gets chaotic. Don't mind that Mr. Ortiz looks "serious" and rarely cracks a smile, he will eventually. My project and money was serious business, and I appreciated that he respected that. These were some of them: 1. When the contract was being finalized, there were several items that hadn't been updated to reflect the current scope of work. I highlighted said items, along with the notation, "Looks great. Once these items are updated, I'm ready to sign." The project manager immediately texted back, "I feel like a school child and that you're correcting me." 2. I had it written into the contract no work past 5:00pm. On two days within the first week, the project manager authorized his worker to stay past the agreed-upon time, without first running it by me. When I brought it to his attention, he texted, "That's great! We're trying to get ready for inspection asap!". When it turned out to be an ongoing issue and I again called him out on it, he texted me a screenshot of a thank you card an appreciative former customer gave him. 3. I also had it written into the contract no dumping of dirty drywall or paint water down the storm drain in front of my house. One of the workers is on Ring doorbell video pouring the water down the storm drain in front of the house, in front of a painted sign on the curb of dolphins that says "No Dumping". This left two large white marks on the street for several days before they cleaned it. 4. They forgot to install a corner shower bench in one of the showers. When I brought it to the project manager's attention, he sheepishly grinned and said, "How did that happen? Well, obviously, we won't charge you for it." While they offered to install a shower seat after the fact, I didn't want to deal with the project manager any longer than necessary. 5. They were supposed to remove an old grab bar, towel bar, and toilet roll holder, but were saying that they first had to check to see if was on the scope of work. Time passed, and the project manager didn't get back to me to say that they were going to do it. Since I wasn't going to keep chasing answers, I hired a handyman to do the work. The next time the project manager was there, he said his own worker had done it and seemed surprised when I told him that my handyman had done it. 6. First final inspection failed due to there not being a GFI outlet and a vacancy sensor. The inspector commented in passing, "And you might want to make sure all your smoke detectors are up, so next time I don't need to go around the house." I was there when he said this (the project manager wasn't) and the conversation was recorded on indoor Ring camera. When the project manager showed up a few hours later, I said, "Looks like we didn't pass inspection." He shot back, "Well yeah, because you didn't have your smoke detectors up!" There were innumerable other incidents like this on the regular, where the project manager gaslit me. So perplexing and annoying. I've found an excellent contractor for my kitchen remodel and everything is running like a well-oiled machine.

He let us know the project was going to be delayed one day because of a prediction of rain. The following day, a Porta-Potti was delivered for the workers who arrived at 7:00 a.m, which was the pattern for the next four days. The crew worked very efficiently, from sunrise to sundown, cleaning up their waste each day into the trailer which was placed each day for their use. They took Sunday off, working another four days to complete the entire job. We are very pleased with the work done and recommend this company for their commitment to customer satisfaction in every aspect of their business.
