Terry (owner and stylist of The Studio) has put so much love, care, and dedication into her Studio, and it shines through every single detail. A hair salon and art gallery mixed into one is such a novel idea, and The Studio pulls it off with aplomb! As Katie said, it smells amazing because of the candles she sells...who doesn't want to smell a delicious wine-scented candle as they peruse the range of hair and skin products before their haircut? She then led me upstairs to her shampoo room and over the sink was the coolest wall I have ever seen! It was layered with spackle and all these different personal mementos were pressed into it: Half of a favorite chipped coffee cup, cool beads, a tiny Hershey candy. The art she sells is really cool too! She has different featured artists selling their work. Everything is just so different, but put together it looks amazing. Now the haircut...I am ALWAYS terrified to cut my hair short, change things up...but Terry surpassed anything I could have imagined. I went in with medium length, thin, scraggly hair and left with a short, adorable bob (which made my hair appear SO much thicker!! A big deal for someone who's always battled thin hair). She listened to exactly what I wanted and calmed me down right before she cut off all those inches (which I really needed, cutting my hair is a big deal for some reason). In short, go to The Studio. It truly is a fun, funky, 'cutting' edge (Get it...CUTTING?? Haha) salon and gallery. GO THERE. You won't regret it. read more

I showed up at The Studio for my Sunday appointment and noticed the wonderful smell right away. It wasn't the familiar scents of hair products, and the owner/stylist Terry told me that she was burning one of the wine-scented (!) candles that she sells. Kind of awesome. But about the hair. I get my hair cut 2x a year. I'm a nightmare client because my only direction is "keep it long enough so I can put it in a ponytail." I swim a lot, and generally don't spend too much time on my hair. While she cut, Terry gave me some tips about how I can still stick to my low-maintenance routine, but get more body and longer time between shampoos. She made me promise I'd at least TRY it. Overall the visit was a blast and Terry cut my hair exactly as I asked. Terry is a great stylist and totally entertaining. She told me about a couple of the art events she has planned for the gallery portion of The Studio that also sound pretty cool. I love the pillow hanging from the mirror that says something like "I never repeat gossip, so listen closely the first time." Would recommend. read more

What a spectacular treat I had last weekend. I visited one of the best new spots in New Hope -- The Studio on Mechanic St. Walking into this shop is a unique experience. you're immediately pulled in and surrounded by amazing colors and warmth in a creative, stimulating yet relaxing environment -- a lovely gallery of eclectic paintings and design pieces with a cozy seating area from which to appreciate the artwork and engage in community. What's even more of a surprise is that the owner, Terry Meehan, has also set up a clever little hair syudio within The Studio. how special is must be to have her create a new you while you sip a beverage surrounded by this lovely space. Everyone needs to stop in and see this unique place. you won't be disappointed, and, even better, you may end up leaving with a new hairstyle or a beautiful new painting. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE STUDIO! Whether for a haircut, or to peruse the art, this place is worth a visit. It's around 2pm and I have already gotten 5 compliments on my haircut from random people in the street. It's just that good. I had long thin hair, smatterings of grey, part straight, part wavy....highly annoying. I gave Terry (the owner) a general idea of my short haired vision, and then left it up to her artistic judgement, which as it turns out was right on the mark! I left the shop with a totally hip new short cut and I am LOVING IT! In addition to this, the whole experience of getting your hair cut, or simply being in "The Studio" is fantastic. The space is filled with a variety of fun and funky art from local artists and exudes a positive energy that is infectious. Terry has a great eye for color, angles and bringing out the best features. Greys gone, hot shiny color and a cut that makes me look ten years younger... I'm now a devotee to the talented Terry. Not only does she make me look good, she's a lot of fun too. The Studio is comfortable and intimate - one chair and 100% focus on you. The art is super cool and you can feel creativity in the air. Every time you visit there is always something new to catch your eye. Terry loves hair, art and dogs and New Hope. She is also passionate about making you look your best. I'm very happy Terry opened The Studio in New Hope; there's always a cold soda in the frig or a fresh batch of sun tea, it smells good, nice tunes in the background, a relaxing atmosphere and I walk out feeling good about myself. read more

Let me start off by saying that Terry's haircuts are incredible. As a guy, I've been to many a barber, and Terry is on point. I've never gotten so many compliments on a hair cut as I have with Terry's cuts. She really pays a lot of attention to what she is doing, and really tries to make you happy. This is probably the first time in my life that I haven't had to come home to fix something myself with a pair of scissors in the mirror after a haircut. She is also one of the sweetest people I know, always fun to talk to, and, she always has a cold beverage to offer you. She is also very flexible, and will book a standing appointment for you so that you never look like you need a haircut. This is the type of place I would still come to if I moved an hour away. read more
