We had a leak that was driving us batty, and the two previous guys we hired to fix it could not figure out where it was coming from. I called Collin based on his positive Yelp reviews, and he not only found the source of the problem pretty quickly -- we had a rotted doorsill next to our deck -- but devised an effective solution. The first thing that impressed me about Collin was his willingness to come to our house and spend an hour without charging getting the lay of the land and forming a hypothesis for what the problem might be. Once he diagnosed it, he had the skills and tools to address it. We have not had another drop of water in that area since, and it rained twice after he made the repair. While at our place, Collin also fixed a patio gate that was sticking and a garage door that seemed to have developed a mind of its own, closing only when it felt like it. It was a great relief to get that taken care of. Collin charges $65 an hour, which is not cheap but is probably about the going rate in San Francisco. He's pretty busy and might not get back to you right away. That was the case with us, but I'm glad I had the patience to wait until he was available, because he did a fantastic job for us. Collin was hired to do some plaster and drywall patch and paint work in my house. He did a great job, taking extra care with the paint color matching. I'm very pleased with the results. I'd hire Collin again because of these 3 reasons: 1) His price was fair for the amount and type of work done. 2) He took great care in making sure to clean up after himself each day that he worked in my house. In particular, the prep work was dusty and he covered our bedding with plastic and ran an air filter in the house each day. 3) He was excellent with his communication, gave me daily progress reports, and let me know when he was going to arrive each day. read more

Collin is a real pleasure to work with. He's honest, responsive takes pride in the work he does and charges fairly for his time. We needed to have some vintage metal lawn furniture disassembled (to be sandblasted and powder coated). He came by the house in very short notice and got to work. When it became clear that the job was going to require more equipment (a blow torch and special saw!) he suggested taking the furniture back to his shop. We loaded everything up in his truck and off he went. He finished the job a few days later and even delivered everything to the powder coating facility in Oakland for us. As I write, it's evening, and Collin is on a ladder in front of my house reinstalling the gutter after doing a very thorough job fixing the exposed portion of attic behind it - which the people who installed the gutters didn't bother with. Collin is a good communicator who walks you through the logic of the work he's proposing, and makes clear everything he's going to do before he does it. He is capable of doing pretty much anything you need, and given how every little project metastasizes into more projects, that's a good thing. Collin was great. He was on time, very smart about the solutions to our fix-it issues and provided a good price. He pigeon proofed our roof and the pigeons are really gone. He fixed the vent for the dryer and over flow water drain pipe for the washer. He remade my stairway/ deck in the kitchen exit door that was rotting away. He did the exterior painting and cut off the old garbage pipe on the kitchen side of my house. You can depend on him and his quality of his workmanship.
