I left the super dentist feeling "nickel and dimmed. " We went in for routine cleaning for 3 kids and they bombarded me with a bunch of dental work that my kids needed and I unfortunately agreed to do it. The lady explaining the bill said "toothbrushes and an informational book for the family is included" leading me to believe she meant included in the services, not on the invoice as a separate fee. Now looking at my bill, I was charged $7 for each toothbrush (the augmented reality app doesn't even work) and TWO $26 charges for the book the doctor wrote. Be aware of what they are charging you and your insurance. They will try to get you to agree to everything right away. I should have told them I would think about it and left after the cleaning, but again I was there with 3 children and only trying to do what was best for them. In this economy swindling people into books and toothbrushes is criminal. They have lost my trust; we will no longer be patients. *Edit* They have refunded me for the books and toothbrushes. read more

Our Dental hygienist Melissa was very sweet and patient with my daughter, she did a great job explaining everything to her and myself. My daughter, age 3, seemed to really enjoy all the colors and theme of the office as well. The receptionist were all very helpful also. My daughter allowed them to brush her teeth and take X-rays! I was very surprised when she said she "wants to go back". So guess we found our dentist! read more

After my last review of the Escondido office of The Super Dentists, I reached out to Scarlett, the Regional Director of Patient Services, and she was very understanding of the situation and wanted to help. She looked into what happened with my son's appliance but unfortunately, it was lost. She helped make arrangements back in the Carmel Valley location so that we can retake the impressions with a senior dental assistant/trainer (Betty) and accommodated us by having someone in the Carmel Valley location drive the impression to the lab and wait for it to be done so that the pedi-partial could be inserted the same day. We didn't have to worry about this one getting lost and we didn't have to wait another few weeks for it. I really appreciate Scarlett, Betty, and Abbey (who made sure the appliance was made and delivered the same day). Betty was amazing. She made my son at ease and talked him through the process. She was kind and gentle and quick. The Office Manager in the Escondido office, Lucy, was supposed to be there to pick up the impression and take it to the lab for us however, she was a no-show. I have four kids with Autism and ADHD. Super dentist always makes it a pleasant visit. We are in and out and the dental work can be completed same day many times. We don't come because it is cheap, but we come for the higher end services. Many parents have a hard time remembering this is a business. Just make sure you tell them you decline anything insurance doesn't cover if you don't want additional charges. I myself have had to make sure they correct my invoice and remove "sealant" on baby teeth( which fall out anyway). Overall the locations are great. I just wish the coffee, tea, and hot chocolate were back. read more

My little one has some genetic weakness issues with her teeth and doesn't handle the dentist well. Here at super dentist Escondido they always seem to comfort her and make it more of a pleasant visit versus "oh no! The dentist." The whole office is kid friendly so it's been very welcoming for my 2 1/2 yr old. The front desk staff is so kind, the dental techs are amazing, and the dentist herself is phenomenal. I think coming here was a mistake, I hate it here and I want to find another place to take my children. I will first start with the fact that you can never call the office directly, you have to utilize a call center, and then the office never calls you back. Every time I go into the Escondido office, there are plenty of front office staff sitting around, chit chatting, staring at the walls, so I'm not sure why you use a call center...what exactly would you say that you do here?? I often receive text messages from the office that is promoting there text messaging service, make your appt. here, pay you bill here, if you have questions, text us, but when you do no one answers that either. What's really the most frustrating is when you schedule an appt. and then you get a call the day before that says your dentist isn't going to be in the office so you will need to reschedule. Once, ok, I understand things happen. But after the 3rd time, you feel like you're never going to get anything done here. I mean how do you schedule an appt if you know the dentist isn't going to be there or is it that you don't know how to schedule? Im not sure which but it's extremely unprofessional. Today I get a text message saying that I have an outstanding balance, please text us if you have any questions. Yeah, I have questions, so I type my question in and still no response and of course there is no number to call back. I also don't know who wrote that message requesting money, but very unprofessional and the wording is down right rude, you would never say that to someone's face, I guarantee that. Bottom line is I want to leave, I'm tired of the rotten customer service, the patient care is very inconsistent. I sent another message today asking how I can leave and transfer to another orthodontist and guess what, no one answered that either. read more

What was going to be 1-2 treatments turned into 4. One of the assistants chipped my front tooth while taking out the mouth clamp and hitting my tooth really hard. Also they dropped a syringe in my throat and rushed for me to spit out, I was able to cough it up but a small child would not have been able to. The doctors aren't prepped to treat children, they have a horrible attitude. My little sister was crying because she could still feel the procedure being done after anesthesia and the doctor had a huge attitude about it. I overheard him telling an assistant he was having a good week until us because I also needed to be numbed more. They don't disclose the charges either. They charged my mom per visit and increased 2 visits to 4 like I said. Overall I had a horrible experience and never want to be back there again and don't recommend anyone comes in. read more

Even though I have set up a payment plan and am current in my payments, their accounting system is messed up and they are constantly emailing, calling and texting me demanding payment and adding late fees. Also- their reminder system is messed up too, you will get numerous and repeated messages (calls, emails, texts) reminding you of appointments that you did not make, reminding you to make appointments, and charging you cancellation fees for appointments you canceled or didn't even make - BEWARE!! read more

I took my seven month old child to the dentist as he has 8 teeth already. Upon entry I immediately felt like this was some strange office--I get that it is geared toward children, but something felt off. Everything until this point seemed to be positive-help I received over the phone was great and the text messages were great to fill out forms. I followed their prompt to text when I arrived and I waited 10 minutes to come to the front door as indicated in the text. I waited another 5 minutes until I got a call to ask where I was, and I informed I did text and I was waiting in front. The sign-in process was easy as well. When I went with my son to sit at the dentist chair he was attended by a kind and friendly dental assistant (names starts with "T"). My son got one x-ray for his front teeth and then the dental assistant brushed his teeth with some foam toothpaste (?). I would like to add, their software seemed outdated. Afterwards, the dentist came by to evaluate his teeth; she seemed apathetic, tired, nonchalant and not excited about her role. I asked her to please provide a written recommendation and summary of the visit as it is difficult to remember everything when caring for a small baby; it didn't seem like she was inclined to do so. It was the most simple dentist visit, and I get it my son is 7 months old and has 8 teeth. I finished the appointment with my son and went to get a copy of the fees for the appointment.--$167. Upon further examination of the fees, I realized that something seemed off and I went to inquire about them. They said not to worry, because my insurance was going to cover everything. One line item charge was noted as previous work--this was the first time we went so there couldn't have been previous work. I do think there might be some shady business practices in how they charge for services, including some they may not have provided. They said they put fluoride on my baby's teeth, but I only remember they said it was baby toothpaste. They don't expect you to ask what the service fees are when you have insurance , which allows them to request your insurance to pay them some "extra" fees. I don't expect to go back, but if other parents decide to go, always ask them to give you a copy of your visit to outline the fees. I also requested a copy of my son's x-ray and they had me fill out a form. Will be waiting for their email with this request to obtain the x-ray copy. Weird, doctors allow you to get x-ray copies, but the dentist won't without a release form when you just had the appointment? Lastly, I as an adult received better care, attention, and kindness from my dentist on the same day than my baby son did. No thank you, I will take my PPO insurance elsewhere. read more

This is not a place you should take your small children. I expressed I only wanted 2 cavities filled today, either the right side or the left side. My 4yr old son gags very easily. The dental assistant could barely get pictures and could tell she was a little short with him and telling him to breathe through his nose, she then asked for me to help by getting on the computer to click capture so she could get pictures of his teeth. The doctor came back in and she too struggled to get him to not gag and not move his tongue just to look at all his teeth, they used a device to hold his mouth open but that stressed him out bc when he needed to swallow he struggled and instead of trying to suction the saliva they just kept saying you're ok, you're fine just sallow but he would shake his head and seemed panicked and couldn't. The dentist said the cavities were very superficial but one so we could very easily do all 4 today. She then while working on his teeth kept asking questions like "what color do you want your truck?" He would try to answer but then they both abruptly don't talk don't move!" He's 4 and you asked him a question? Then as they're giving him directions he's not paying attention bc he's too busy watching tv which they told him to watch and turned the volume up making it even worse. Then as they were working on him and at this point very out of it from the laughing gas, he starts throwing up, they pull away and for a few seconds just sit there while he's throwing and I think they said sit up or I said sit him up, buts he's not responding bc he's on clearly too much laughing gas so I have to sit him up to keep him from ingesting his own vomit. He was about to inhale his own vomit, which would have put us in the hospital, they acted like they'd never been in this situation. You're medical professionals who work on children with laughing gas daily this can't be the first time this has happened. My sister works for a pediatric dental office and this is not a rare thing. So to think they didn't know how to handle it really made me angry. I asked if they had anything to help clean him and they just didnt know what to do. The dentist basically disappeared, I took my son to the bathroom to try to clean him up and he then started crying. We had to finish up bc they had already started cleaning out the cavities. We get to a new room and the dentist never returned, and the assistant asked me again if I could help hold my sons mouth open with some tool. Then was trying to work quickly and was short with my child the whole time but she doesn't speak clear English and he's upset now just cry and saying it hurts and she's trying to tell me how to hold his mouth open, then she would try to down play it by saying he's doing so good, and she's so proud of him. At this point I'm trying to keep it together for my child's sake, but I should get a discount since I had to be the assistant and where did the dentist even go? She just was gone after he threw up, couldn't handle the vomit situation? How are you a pediatric dentist? She was literally in the middle of working and then decided to what bounce out? Bye no explanation just gone. This was the worst thing I've ever experienced. I will absolutely never return and never recommend this place. I feel a law suit should be in order on how to keep a child's air way clear, and then on etiquette. Give him more breaks in between instead of rushing through something that he obviously wasn't handling well. This is how you teach children to fear the dentist. My child was physically and emotionally stressed out the entire time, gagging and crying, and neither the dentist or assistant seemed to care. Dentist especially didn't care since she straight disappeared. Super nothing. read more
