Yes, we question good sushi in the mountains! But, the Sushi Shack NEVER disappoints. I always start off with a nice glass of wine (not on the menu). My appetizer of choice is the calamari sticks - YUM! My husband and I share the Blairsville roll and the Grouper Roll. Both are very tasty. The staff is very friendly and fast! Food is decent, I order mostly tempura rolls, not sure where restaurants source their seafood here, I notice that restaurants here for the most part don't have a great food aroma, not sure why that is. The places always have a non food smell some with some unpleasant smell even when the food is good. I like to walk into a restaurant and be captivated by their aroma not the opposite. This place is a hidden gem. In a world of overpriced food, these folks offer simple sushi at very reasonable prices. Not a single frill in sight, just a simple well made dish with a dollop of wasabi and a couple slivers of pickled ginger. Been here 2 or 3 times, always good quick service, nothing fancy, and a perfectly reasonable price. It's maybe not a five star experience, atmosphere, or food presentation, and it doesnt aim to be. Got a few rolls for my friend and I. The sushi is made to order so that's convenient if you are a picky eater. The price was cheaper than any sushi I think I've had so that's a pro! The spicy tuna and JB roll were ok. Had to take the green onion out of the JB roll because it was all I tasted on the first try. The blairsville roll was very good though! Would come back for sure. It hit the spot. Small spot but wasn't busy when we went on a Saturday around 6pm. They also have a drive thru that is pretty cool. Everyone seemed nice. read more

The restaurant was clean, staff were very nice and competent in their services. The food on the other hand was very below average. The salmon was not sushi quality in how it was cut or presented. It was torn and mangled. Clearly not done by an Asian chief or trained as such. After that, I didn't trust the sushi and how it was prepared. I would not recommend and will not return. read more

The amount of sushi you get for the price is insane! I'm from a big city, and these rolls would typically be $12 to start, so I found the prices very good. The tuna philly, regular philly, and yard bird rolls were all yummy and fresh. I loved that they serve the tea in cute individual pots. My only downside would be that the restaurant had an unusual cleaning product scent, sort of like the smell of the inside of a mop bucket, instead of that soy sauce smell. I'm not sure if that's typical for the restaurant, but it's something to look into for the future. Thank you for the lovely service. read more

Good food, great service, casual atmosphere, a delight to find decent sushi in the mountains. A glass of plum wine would have made it outstanding, but they explained that they were having trouble with their supplier. All in all, excellent! read more

Thanks to yelp, we drove to this place for sushi on our way back to Atlanta from Gatlinburg and it was worth the drive. Small little "shack" with great customer service! It's small inside with not too many tables, but we got seated right away because we went at 3pm. But right after we sat down the entire restaurant was packed! The server was super friendly and welcoming! She explained the fresh fish from Atl, their awards, and made some stop on Recommendations. What was so AWESOME was her willingness to make any roll Gluten free! So refreshing! She could sub out the crab on any roll. Thank you so very much for doing this, little gesture meant to much! We ordered a lot of rolls and got ginger salads! Wow on the salad with ginger dressing which is made in house. Ask for extra because it is that good! The rolls tasted fresh and had lots of flavor! The tuna was like butter! We had great rolls and great service! We highly recommend and plan your return when we travel through! Enjoy! read more

I have eaten at the sushi shack several times, either ordering the Sushi Regular or Tuna lovers combo's both dine in or carry out. The staff is always pleasant, and I always feel like I get way more than I pay for (please don't see this and raise your prices hahaha). The Sushi is always fresh and delicious. Went for dinner. Food was good & average price for the area, but unless you can snag a seat at the sushi bar, there is no ambiance. You go up & order & they bring to your table. Only if i have to. Suppoesdly the best sushi for 50 miles and the other locations had even worse reviews...i can only imagine. First off the wait. I am NOT exaggerating when the wait was ONE HOUR from when our party of 6 ordered the food. Just....No The salmon and tuna were not deep, rich colors. More like 7 day old refrigerator fish, farm raised, not wild. Also the atmosphere...omg they had 2 ac units clearly set to 65, and ceiling fans to boot. Been here once, I may return. I went in and was a little taken back when the guy I'm assuming owner was like are they ordering or just talking when a friend I'd not seen in a while was being friendly and saying hello (she's an employee and we weren't holding anyone up). I almost didn't order but we went ahead. The Miso soup was pretty good, however the seaweed salad was overpriced for the portion. The guy said we'd definitely be back because the sushi would be that good but it was alright. I've been all over the country and some of the best sushi I've had is in California, Florida and there's a place in southern Georgia that's pretty good. The sushi here is ok. It's not amazing but not bad either. If I need a sushi fix and don't want to do it at home I'll go. read more

Saw the new restaurant going to town & wanted to try it out. I crave sushi & enjoy a good roll. We had The Blairsville roll, Teriyaky Chichen Bento Box, Salmon Roll plus fountain drink. Place is nice & comfortable. The Teriyaky Chicken was good & tasty. The Blairsville Roll was excellent. Is a California roll topped with crab & crunchy tempura drizzeled with spicy mayo & sweet eel sauce on top. On the side we ate Salmon roll that was excellent & fresh. I wasn't expecting much in a mountainside town but I was honestly impressed. We started with the dumplings. The shrimp were okay but I was told the pork were very good. I ordered the Salmon Lovers meal. The salad was good and I enjoyed the ginger dressing. The nigiri tasted fresh. I forgot to order my salmon roll inside out as I prefer so I ate it as served. It was good but again, I probably would have enjoyed it more inside out. The service was excellent and the food was good. I truly appreciated the way the ginger was cut.
