My boyfriend and I are still on our road trip and today we decided to stop in Helen, Georgia -- this super charming and historic little German-style town in the mountains. Unfortunately it was raining SO much that we couldn't really walk around and explore the town, so I searched for somewhere close to our hotel to have dinner. We ended up at Bangkok Haus Restaurant and honestly... what a good decision that turned out to be. The restaurant serves Thai food and sushi in this really cozy, relaxing atmosphere, which honestly felt perfect after being stuck in the rain all day. The restaurant itself is super cute inside and beautifully decorated, making it feel warm and welcoming the second you walk in. We decided to go all in on sushi rolls and started with two beers: a Thai Chang beer and a Japanese Asahi. Both were super light, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the sushi. I also ordered a miso soup because honestly... there's just something so comforting about starting dinner with warm miso soup to settle your stomach. For rolls we ordered the Eel Roll, the Lady of Dawn, and the M16 roll. The Eel Roll was rich, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced with that buttery eel texture and eel sauce. The Lady of Dawn roll was super fresh and flavorful with the perfect combination of crunchy and creamy textures. And the M16 roll? SO good. Packed with flavor, beautifully presented, and honestly one of those rolls where every bite tastes different in the best way possible. I later saw online that people rave about the M16 roll too, and now I completely understand why. The service was also super friendly and fast, which we appreciated so much after a long rainy day on the road. Honestly, if you're visiting Helen and want a break from all the German food everywhere, this is SUCH a great option. Wow. Terrible. We were eating and found a MAGGOT or whatever this is. Like seriously you CANNOT make this up. I would have been more understanding but the sever just took our plate went and told all her coworkers and never came back. No one did. We sat there until we went to tell them we were going to leave.thats when they billed us for everything we ordered except the edmame. Which by the way the sushi roll we ordered had never even come. Eventually after pressing they said okay fine we will take care of it. But I'm sorry. That is not how you handle a situation like this. Actually appalled. Our appetite was gone. read more

I had the bagel roll which was huge and very filling and tasty. Our server Lauren was a delight. She was very attentive, friendly, funny, and really made us feel welcome. We'd come back here anytime! Last night in Helen and could t decide where to eat. Thanks to Yelp this place looked like a good place to stop for dinner. We started off with the crab Rangoons which were great! Warm and creamy center with that sweet dipping sauce. I also ordered the Philadelphia roll which tasted great! For the main course, I had a Pad Thai which wasn't bad. A little on the sweeter side for my taste and the noodles were a little overcooked and stuck together but the flavor was good. Service was friendly and it is a decent size space serving a lot of customers. All in all I had a great experience here and exceeded my expectations having a good Thai place in Helen. read more

As we were visiting Helen on one of the coldest days of the year, we were in the mood for a hot satisfying meal, so we headed to BHR on the recommendation of my fellow Yelpers! When we stepped in, there was only a couple of tables that were occupied, and by the time we left there were people waiting at the door! We went with the shrimp tempura roll and a crab roll for the starters and they were both on point and delicious. Elle had the Pad Thai and slurped it up with a gusto! Dust had the same dish and cleaned his plate (a rare feet indeed!) The wifey had the shrimp Masaman curry and loved it! I had my traditional chicken Penang curry I'm not only was it delicious, but the servings were more than generous! Sam had a children's order of chicken fried rice and it was enough for an adult. All in all, we had a great meal our server was very attentive, even though the place was quite busy by the time we departed. Fellow YELPERS I would definitely recommend this place if you are visiting or live here and yes, we will be back when in the area! Let's start from the top. The location is probably the best thing about this restaurant because it is right next to the hotel. It's conveniently located next to other stores has a lot of good options nearby as well. Now let's talk about the service when you go in your immediately greeted by a couple of people they ask you and make you feel very welcome. We were given a booth and the place was medium packed. The lighting was really nice and the environment was very ambient and nightlife like. The food was really good. I enjoyed the sushi and my wife enjoyed the basil noodles overall, I would give them a four star out of five. read more

We have been several times now and it has been a good experience each time. The variety of food available should suite most anyone's Asian food cravings. We started this visit with crab Rangoon's and two sushi rolls which I thought were very well prepared. The ingredients seemed fresh and the flavors were good. We sat at the bar this particular time on a Friday night. It wasn't too crowded and the service was excellent. They keep about 10-12 beers on tap with a nice variety there too. Prices are a little higher than usual I'd say but you are in a tourist town so it's to be expected. We spent $100 with tip for the appetizer, 2 sushi rolls, one main course and 4 alcoholic beverages, so all in all not terrible. read more

Being a Thai and Japanese restaurant in Helen, I didn't have huge expectations, but this place blew it out of the water. The food was amazing, the service was outstanding (shout out to Lauren who couldn't have been a better server!), and the restaurant was super clean and cozy. I was shocked. I live in Nashville and often visit Atlanta, both places with a great culinary scene, and this was some of the best Thai food I've had in a long, long time. The sushi was awesome too! Very fresh. The dishes we had that were all wonderful were California roll, tuna and avocado roll, bagel roll, sweet and sour shrimp, pad zee eu, pad kee mao, and pad Thai. Everyone enjoyed their meal throughly. I had the pad kee mao and it was so flavorful and the perfect amount of flavor and spice. We even ventured to try dessert, again with low expectations, but it was also really good! We had the espresso chocolate cake, and while we didn't taste any espresso really, it was excellent chocolate cake - warm and moist - with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. We can't wait to return and might even come back again during our short trip to Helen. If so, hopefully, we will have Lauren as our server again. Been here many times. All the food is good. I like to get cuc salad, coconut soup, samari party, basil noodles... the list goes on. Had an awesome lavender cocktail this time and service was adequate. The only thing is the room is stuffy. There is no airflow. They need some fans. Maybe having trouble with the ac. The sushi here was surprisingly good. We ordered Philly roll, a spicy tuna roll, a princess roll and something with dynamite crab, I can't remember the name. But all of the rolls were the same size. I was expecting the spicy tuna ones to be much smaller since they were cheaper but they weren't. We ended up having a lot of sushi! It was all good. The kids ordered the Bayme soups(he enjoyed) and chicken nuggets with fries. The nuggets were super basic, frozen Walmart nuggets(McDonald style) which is exactly what kids like. The staff was friendly, they brought us coloring books and a box with a few random crayons and colored pencils that kept the kids busy while waiting. Can't speak for the Thai, but the sushi was phenomenal! The ratio of rice to filling was wonderful--just enough rice to hold it together and no skimping on the fish and filling! The rice was supple, as good sushi rice should be. It was just phenomenal! We had the M16 (pictured after we were halfway through it), shrimp tempura, and Philly (seen in background of photo--note the amount of salmon in the roll!). Spice 55 comes highly recommended... in my humble opinion, Bangkok Haus is a head and shoulders better!! And we're from Atlanta where we have access to many of the best sushi places in the country! read more

Omg! Best place ever!!!! We had Celina as our server. So friendly and professional. The food is out of world. They have Thai and sushi (plus other items). Everything is so fresh and the flavors to die for. We started with sushi appetizers, then the coconut soup, then for dinner was the garlic pepper beef and some orange chicken with both friend rice. Our son order the iron man sushi plate. Tons of food and the prices were very good. Such a wonderful restaurant in Helen. We needed a break from German food and it was close to the hotel! So it was definitely a good place to go. The curry was amazing and you can't go wrong with the pad thai. Unfortunately I don't know if we came at a wrong time but the looked like they were understaffed. The tables still had dirty plates, the bar had cups sitting there. Delicious food and tasty drinks. we began our 52nd Anniversary meal with celebratory mango mai tais and some very tasty boiled potstickers served with a delicious sauce. I chose their incredibly tasty and authentic (I first had this dish in Thailand) green curry with shrimp and a side of fried rice and my husband enjoyed sweet and sour chicken also with fried rice. Both tasted amazing and we brought almost all the fried rice back to our timeshare unit for tomorrow as we were so full! Our wonderful server, Kayla, surprised us at the end of the meal with bowls of delicious vanilla bean ice cream to commemorate our special day! We highly recommend this fine restaurant even though we probably would have had a better ambience sitting INSIDE the Bangkok Haus. We chose to sit outside because it was such a lovely night but the Mexican music from the restaurant next door was not in keeping with our Thai themed dishes! Totally our mistake! This is a gem in Helen Georgia. Most folks visit Helen for a small taste or glimpse of Germany, but the Bangkok Haus is a great break from the heavy German food! I had the Cashew Pad Thai with Tofu, I could eat this everyday! Delicious and great balance of flavors. Seth, our waiter, was friendly and answered all the questions hurled at him. The Crab Rangoons were delicious. We also had the dragon roll, and the beauty and the beast roll, along with the Tom Kha Kai soup, so delicious. The bartender was friendly but we didn't catch his name. The interior is really cute, nice and clean. We will visit again next time we are in Helen. read more

I happened to be in Helen for the day and was glad to find this restaurant. The sushi rolls I ordered were delicious. I had the Bull Dawg Roll: shrimp tempura, asparagus and avocado topped with spicy tuna, eel sauce, spicy Mayo and tempura, spring rolls and the eruption roll: shrimp tempura, avocado topped with baked crab dynamite, eel sauce and spicy mayo. This place is amazing!!! 10/10! It exceeds a 5 star review. Our server was very nice and helpful with the menu. The restaurant is small but set up so cute! They have cute lights and lanterns hanging from the ceiling. When we went, they had a piano player who was really good! The food was amazing as well. We got fried gyoza/pot stickers as an app, which I neglected to get a photo of. But they were probably in my top 3 of potstickers. You need to get them fried, not steamed if you go. We also got chocolate martinis which were amazing. I got chicken panang curry and my boyfriend got chicken pineapple fried rice. So good! 4/5! After walking around Helen for the day, a friend and I decided to stop by Bangkok Haus to try. It was odd seeing Thai cuisine here in the woods of Georgia, so why not. The Food: Since we weren't as hungry, we opted for some sushi and an appetizer. For the appetizer, I went with the "Crispy Calamari". And for sushi, I went with the "Spicy Tuna Roll" and the "Double Eel Roll". Surprisingly, their sushi was pretty good! The fish tasted very good, I can tell it was of some quality. The rice to protein ratio was perfect as well. I'd definitely recommend ordering a roll if you like Sushi. The Service: Service was great! Staff here are friendly and attentive. Even while we were outside on their patio. The Atmosphere: Restaurant was nicely decorated. There's plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Overall a nice and clean resturant. Overall, a 4/5! We were so pumped up to try this Asian restaurant as it was highly recommended on here and on google.... And while I wasn't exactly super overwhelmed with excitement, I wasn't disappointed either. We ate light. I ordered basil rolls and the sauce was great... the rolls didn't have enough noodles or veggies within. There was too much lettuce for the wrap. It was a huge mouthful and difficult to eat, but the flavors were refreshing. The orange beef was my husbands choice and it had a very sweet sauce which balanced out with the fried rice. Beef was dry. Again the flavors were good. Server was very sweet and a kind disposition. I'd go back again and I saw a lot of food I'd try on the menu. I had the special, Orange Sesame Chicken, which was really good. We also had the potstickers and a beef curry dish. The curry was okay but nothing spectacular. I was still on the hunt for some decent Thai food after my last review at another place and I came across this little "gem" perhaps? The only reviews I could find was on another app so I did this for my squad (haha if you catch the song reference) Anyway, let's get to the food. Not shown is the chicken lettuce wraps that I shared with my sister. The portion was definitely shareable and the chicken was definitely seasoned. The dish came with a lettuce wedge, chicken, peanuts, thinly shredded carrots and a sweet/tangy Thai flavored sauce. Next was the main dish, we shared pad Thai add the chicken. Then menu just list the dish as is and you can add chicken, shrimp, beef, or veggie. Your protein is the price of the dish. This pad Thai was very flavorful and the portion is is perfect after a big hike. There was plenty of chicken in the dish and it was very satisfying. The drink is Thai iced tea, this was a first for me and again, chef kiss!! I believe it's black tea and coconut milk and sugar, but I could be wrong but trust me, it's good. The black tea is strong, not over powering but you can taste it for sure. If black tea is not your thing, exercise caution with this one, I didn't have a problem with it but just giving you a heads up. Overall, the vibes were nice. We came around mid afternoon, the waiter was friendly and helpful and it was a perfect day for patio seating. The restaurant is in sort of a shopping plaza and a Mexican restaurant is next door. Inside the restaurant there was a piano player, not sure if this was for today only or if he is a permanent fixture but it was nice. The music was upbeat. read more

Delicious gem in Helen! Among all the tourist traps, this spot was a hit! We have sushi and stir fry and all was excellent!

Our server Kenia did an outstanding job to ensure all of our guest at the table were taken care of and answered all of their question, checking with the Chef on some of the questions. My wife and I had appetizers of Spring rolls and Chicken Satay. I loved the spring rolls even though I would prefer Old Fashion Egg rolls with a dinner. My wife enjoyed the Chicken Satay and I sampled it and it was very good. For the main entree' Masaman Curry with Chicken, with a side of white rice, portion was more than enough for her and she had take home for the next day. I had the Monogolian Beef with fried rice a $2.50 up charge for that. Beef with a little salty before I used the low sodium Soy sauce. Our party consisted of 6 people and we could hear each other with no problem as we talked during and after dinner. They also do a 3% charge for using a credit card, again something I am not happy with, it is the cost of doing business. Again I am not carrying that much cash on me to pay for large meals that wi why we have credit/debit cards. read more
