Eli ran a great session: high energy, well-paced, and somehow got a bunch of coworkers to sweat together without it feeling like a corporate trust fall. Full transparency: I'm usually not a fan of classes that force you to pair up with other people (mostly because I'm lazy and prefer to suffer silently on my own), but I have to admit the partner format actually works. It's just enough accountability to keep you moving, without being overly "team-building retreat" about it. After class I took a quick lap around the facility. It's clean, well-maintained, and doesn't have that sad gym smell. Tons of class options, and now I'm very tempted by the heated yoga and the medspa... because if I'm going to work out, I'd like to be rewarded immediately afterward like a Kardashian. Everyone working there was genuinely nice and welcoming. Would absolutely take Eli's class again, and would recommend it if you want a great workout, a fun time with coworkers, or friends and the mild panic of realizing you're capable of more than you thought.

Lots of class options at different times and a good variety of music and themed classes. The coach (Alexander) was great. The workout was well-structured and had a lot of options to modify and challenge yourself during the workout. The inside of the gym was clean and they have complimentary shoe rentals that you can wear if you don't have your own cycling shoes. I really appreciated this, unlike other cycling places that charge ridiculous fees for them. I loved that there were smaller class sizes (like 20 people) compared to other cycling classes I have been to that cram 40-50 into the room. The smaller class helped me feel more connected and present. The instructor can actually see everyone in the room too, so it helps feel more friendly in my opinion. I really enjoyed my experience here and would come back to Handle Bar over other cycling classes in the area. They also have discounts on classes and memberships for students, teachers, medical workers, and military, which is a great perk too!

Definitely a fantastic cardio option in Fenway! My first class was a Sunday morning class, and along with the sensory experience of the music and the light changes, the energy of the instructor and the class goers was CRAZY - definitely woke me up! I was surprised at how full the studio was (only 3 empty bikes). The 45 min class is choreo style, meaning you have a leading leg, ride to the beat of the music, and there's movements (e.g. 4 corners, tap backs), with about 5 minutes of arms using a weighted bar (it seems like everyone has the same bar) and stretching that begins 1.5 min until the end. The bikes don't have a monitor on it, nor a numeric number for resistance, so you follow the instructor's cues for how many turns to add on / go by feel. Pros: - Some of the most hype instructors I've seen recently! A++++ - The studio provides the cycling shoes! A++++ - Every bike has a towel on it! - Riders don't have to wipe down their equipment after (I think the staff does this), so it makes it easier to leave the studio. - Water fountain, ear plugs, hair ties, bobby pins, etc available Cons (minor): - For first-timers, it was hard to flag down a staff to help with setting up the bike because the studio was so packed and busy. - The studio is sort of small - the bikes are very much packed against each other and the hallway where people change their shoes and put stuff into lockers is narrow and gets very crowded. - Only two classes on Saturday and Sunday. Note: masks optional but vaccination required, so ride at your own risk

The amenities felt modern, and the sauna was definitely my favorite part - especially with the eucalyptus towels. The Pilates class was nice too, more of a recovery-style workout. Every morning, this huge (male) trainer takes up multiple squat racks, multiple cable points, and 3-4 boxes. It's not a big space, and he keeps things set up so you can't even work in. On top of that, another trainer works out every morning and takes up another squat rack, all of the area in front of it including blocking a machine, and shoots dirty looks if you get in ~her way~ Don't forget, they don't clearly label fragrance free areas in the locker room AND they scold you if you don't tell them that you had to leave and use your epi pen. Bet that had something to do with the membership thing too. Is it discrimination? Maybe. Overall, if you are someone who doesn't want to rock the boat or lift heavy weights or take up any amount of equipment, you'll probably be happy here. But expecting the treatment, access, and equipment worth the price is apparently a death sentence. Do better, Healthworks. Your biases and intolerance are showing.

There are white linen table clothes spread across a tightly crowded packed space. It could even be described as loud and ruckus. An incredible female vocalist built it out songs on a Bose speaker that was at a deafening decibel setting off my Apple Watch alert for a loud environment. Thankfully, she sang a few songs and left. Our party of six certainly had a fun time on this Saturday night. The 3.3 Yelp score captures the rating well. The hard-working staff was relatively attentive and had a great sense of humor. Food was served quickly. For appetizers, we had the calamari, the signature eggplant roolatini and the fried mozzarella for our German friends attending the World Cup. The calamari was fresh and cooked perfectly. The accompanying tomato sauce was fresh. The eggplant is a signature dish and was very good. You get reasonably good value. There was a great wine list with reasonable prices. We had a super Tuscan for $48. The cocktails were good and served quickly. For dinner, I had a veal special that was prosciutto and mozzarella wrapped with veal. My wife had the orecchiette with sausage. Both were good, but lacked a defined taste. I guess the word is bland. The veal was plentiful and a very large portion. However, it was a little tough and inconsistent. It's clear with the size of this two story restaurant that they need to create a volume of dishes. My son enjoyed the lobster ravioli. Perhaps it's from their sister restaurant Giacomos that is one of our long time favorites. Others enjoyed the swordfish and a Bolognese with ricotta cheese. On the whole, the food was good, but not distinguishable. It was quite the experience. When we received our bill, it was added up in incorrectly by $100 thankfully, I caught it. It's a fully manual system. We certainly appreciated the friendliness of the staff, but this place is a machine. We were seated on the second floor, where the back corner had a bar that was closed with the space being used to cart in and out dishes and a logistical hub for the floor that took away from the vibe of the space. If you have a large party and want that old school sort of meme experience, Ricardo's is the right place for you. It's a relatively good value.
