    Lobster Bisque

What a charming restaurant! The menu was nicely balanced and it was hard to choose what to order. I started with a Lobster Bisque at was wonderful! A nice touch was a swirl of cream in the shape of a Treble Clef. We had a large group of 8 and they had the perfect table for us. The service was outstanding. I really appreciated as a foreigner the staff ease of speaking English and making everyone feel at ease. A definite repeat the next time I am in Puerto Vallarta. Check it out!

Loved the low key vibe and the overall ambience of The Swedes Bar and Bistro. The views from upstairs are great, the cocktails were very good and the servers were friendly - what a great combination!

Found this place on a totally random walk. Thought it looked inviting and decided to go in and ended up being right. It was a great rooftop bar, perfect for that time of night, with the wind and breeze perfectly cooling off. The drinks were really strong, but really good. Would definitely recommend this spot.

I wish the service and food at The Swedes were a fraction as good as the balcony seating and warm evening air, but sadly after the location, everything took a nosedive. The waitstaff took ages to attend to us, the gazpacho was lukewarm and bland, the salt we asked for was clumpy and didn't come out of the shaker and worst of all, the waiter told me AFTER I had consumed my Caesar salad that it contained anchovies; I had asked about whether or not a different dish contained meat and for an inexplicable reason he only thought to ask if I was fully vegetarian once I had already eaten the Caesar, at which point he found it pertinent to reveal the ingredients. Baffling.

When I came into a less than half full restaurant, as a single patron, I was told that I could only get a spot at the bar and not a table. The appetizer was good, the drinks were good, but the main salmon dish was drenched in salt. I sent it back and they took it off the bill. I appreciate that. I wouldn't go back.

This is a brick of a steak! Disgusting!

Our group of nine dined at the restaurant on Saturday night around 9 pm, and our bill totaled $7815.50. While the food was mediocre , the service left much to be desired. The waiter said it's not protocol to order our food right away after ordering drinks ummm last we checked this is a restaurant! Unfortunately, our waiter misunderstood my order, insisting I accept a steak instead of the pork chops I had requested. He insisted I take the steak and said "you'll love it! Despite the entire table confirming the error, the waiter didn't apologize or offer an alternative. Frustrated, I had my order canceled and shared my partner's meal. This experience left us considering leaving the restaurant altogether. WE WILL NEVER COME BACK! There are better options in PV!

Really nice restaurant. Really good experience. Solid experience! Really well done food... delicious olive bread comes first with dipping oil and fresh pepper. We both had a pasta dish. Drinks were tasty and wine selection was quite fine. Recommend reservations on a Friday or Saturday. We overlooked the street with a nice ocean breeze blowing in. Lovely. Our waiter was attentive and polite. Also, Wednesday night is PINK night--- 2 for 1 Cosmos!

After looking up good places to go, Bar La Playa came up- and I'm sure glad it did! First, it's easy to get to if you're coming from North. Our Uber was easily able to drop us off without getting stuck in gridlock traffic that can affect certain roads of this area. Additionally, the location isn't a high-traffic area for tourists. That meant we were able to walk up and immediately find seats. Second, the service was top notch. I didn't get the bartenders name, but he was very welcoming, friendly, hospitable and spoke English. Just an overall cool dude and was glad to support his business. Third, the drinks were great. Finally, we were drinking 'real' drinks, not the watered down sugary stuff at the hotel. We were very satisfied with the taste of the drinks. Fourth, the prices are really good. Mexico has gotten expensive and this was a sigh of relief. You can have a great time here without feeling like you paid an arm and a leg. I highly-highly recommend making Bar La Playa your first stop when coming to this area. You're going to get great service, great drinks and all at a price that is reasonable and fair.

They use tanqueray as their house gin which is unusual but a pleasant surprise as it actually happens to be my preferred brand. I didn't have high hopes for the martini - I find that outside of major U.S. cities places end up putting in way too much vermouth - and it actually ended up being fantastic. It didn't taste too different from what I would make at home which is probably the best thing I could say about a martini (for my own personal taste). I tried a fruitier one - the Gigi - as my second and final drink. It was good but I'm just not a fruity drink person. I just wasn't equipped to handle another standard martini lol. The ambiance is phenomenal - it was both casual and comfortable yet classy. The crowd was much older than I expected although not in a bad way at all. There were lots of expats in their 50s and 60s. I was worried it would be a rowdy rooftop and by contrast it was actually a very chill vibe. Only complaint is that the bathroom is outside of the venue down the stairs and you need a key to enter, which was a bit annoying bc I wanted to use the restroom before I left and I forgot to ask for the key on my way out. Small annoyance and certainly wouldn't prevent me from going back.

You'll find people engaged in all sorts of activities ....eating, drinking, dancing, and socializing. Andale is the place to have a great time. Today, for some reason, the restaurants and bars on the street seemed less crowded. It was a Wednesday night when we finally stepped foot into Andale's. We ordered margaritas, shots of anejo tequila, and a beverage; we had already had dinner elsewhere. The DJ was playing a mix of 90s R&B, reggaeton, country, and pop music, and the whistle blowing from the staff added to the lively and exciting atmosphere. I must admit, though, the loud whistle blowing now and then annoyed me, I managed to drown it out somehow. If you plan to visit Andale, expect fun and lively atmosphere with plenty of staff ready to serve you.

During our cruise stop in Puerto Vallarta, we decided to have lunch at Andale's Restaurant & Bar…read more The main reason was to try their well-known Chile en Nogada and experience a local restaurant while we were in port. The restaurant itself was pleasant. Service was friendly, the atmosphere was lively, and it was a comfortable place to sit down, relax, and enjoy a meal. For visitors spending a few hours in town, it's an easy and convenient option. That said, after the meal, I felt the restaurant's biggest strengths were its location and atmosphere rather than the food itself. I specifically ordered the Chile en Nogada, which is considered one of their signature dishes. Presentation was beautiful: a large poblano pepper covered in a rich walnut sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds. It certainly looked impressive when it arrived at the table. The flavor, however, was not what I expected. The pepper was very soft and mild, with no heat at all. The filling combined meat, fruit, and spices, giving it a noticeable sweetness. The walnut sauce was thick, creamy, and nutty, but also surprisingly sweet. When everything came together in one bite, I tasted sweetness, savoriness, nuttiness, and the flavor of the pepper all at once. I can appreciate the complexity and understand why this dish is considered a traditional classic, but personally I struggled with the combination. As the meal went on, the sweetness became more prominent, and the dish started to feel like something caught between an entrée and a dessert. It wasn't bad--it just wasn't something I would order again. We also tried a few other Mexican dishes during the meal. They were perfectly acceptable, but nothing really stood out. The overall food quality felt average: not disappointing, but not memorable either. Throughout the meal, I couldn't shake the feeling that this was a restaurant designed primarily for visitors. The menu, atmosphere, and clientele all felt very tourist-oriented. For travelers looking for a convenient and comfortable place to eat, that may be exactly what they're looking for. But for those hoping to discover exceptional Mexican cuisine, I think there are probably better options in Puerto Vallarta.
