Today I had the opportunity to try the walnut supreme cake and orange slice cake. The walnut cake was beautifully presented with layers and layers of chocolatey goodness. At first, I was a bit skeptical about the orange slice cake but you have to give this one a shot. It was the perfect combination of chocolate and citrus creating a unique and delicious taste. If you have a sweet tooth, this is your spot! I highly recommend The Sweet Gallery!

I was here for lunch and found it quite good. It's in the middle of a really run-down industrial area which is a little weird given that the atmosphere of the restaurant once inside is that of a quaint European Bistro. But once inside it's really cheerful and the dessert case is really a sight to behold. For lunch they mostly seem to do soups, salads and sandwiches. I had what was called a burek which was phyllo pastry filled with cheese and spinach. So the place is good for a light lunch. Now after the light lunch I indulged in what else but a piece of one of their many delicious-looking cakes, along with a cappuccino. You can get a little out of control here given the amount of dessert options that they have all staring back at you from their glass case. I forget which cake I had but it was of the rolled variation and it was absolutely scrumptious. If you are in the area and craving some dessert, I highly recommend this place.

I fall in love with the look of the pastries and cakes!!! I don't consider myself like a girly-girl. But I did like the look of those shinny and fancy chandeliers; and the feeling of being hanging out in a place in where Marie Antoinette could appear... There is a terrace, and the street is not busy, so is ideal for chilling while enjoying some delicious snack. The ladies working there are polite and helpful. I really recommend to pass by.

I heard this bakery serves authentic European cakes so I popped in just to check it out since my colleague's birthday is coming up. They were a few people in there eating but it was really, really quiet. They had beautiful cookies, pastries, cakes, etc. but prices were not marked. I felt like the lady behind the counter was pushing me to make a decision so I just ended up ordering a Burek (spinach and cheese filled pastry) to go for $4.15. She warmed it up for me and I ate it when I got back to the office. It was really, really flakey with lots of filling but I thought it needed a bit of salt. The pic I posted doesn't do it justice as it weighed a ton; I couldn't finish it. I'm definitely going back to pick up cookies when it's my turn to bring treats into work!

Today, we drove 50 km from Pickering to Etobicoke to visit this Pastry shop and it was really worth it. The shop is not in a fancy or luxurious neighbourhood but the decor is elegant , clean , simple and the ambience is bustling. You can find European cakes, Viennese cakes and other fine pastries here . They have been in the business since 1974 and we had the chance to see the second generation owners Gordie (son) and his wife ( Angie). They are very nice, kind and sweet couple. The ingredient of the food and pastries we tried were fresh and of good quality. Their top sellers are the cranberry apple squares, German cheese squares, Strawberry Romanoff. They also have a nice cafe that you can sit and enjoy their coffee and delicious foods. If you buy six and more pastries you don't pay Tax. This coming valentine's day, treat your loved one to a sweet date and visit this place and as Angie will say 'have a sweet day".

There was only one worker that catered to the guests in terms of cashing them out and making the food and drinks. She did really well in serving guests in a timely manner. I definitely will be coming back to try more of their items! Overall, its a cute small quaint cafe which I would say is a hidden gem!

My new favourite cafe for baked goods. I work in the area,…read moreso I'm always looking for new bakeries and pastries to try, to enjoy with my coffee during my break. Black goat is no stranger to me. I visited this cafe only a handful of times more than 5 years ago, as I was not working in the area yet but would come down for meetings. During this time I distinctly remember they had an Oreo cheesecake cookie that was aaaaamazing. So amazing, I never forgot about it, 5+ years later lol. Well I came back this year, sad to find out they were no longer selling it. So on my first visit, I decided just to get a chocolate chip cookie. To my surprise, I actually really liked it. I'm very picky with my chocolate chip cookies. The bonus was the price point. It was only $2 something for a delicious, generously sized cookie. On one of my most recent visits a conversation was sparked with the owner. I thought it was appropriate as I was in there so often, I should at least learn her name lol. I learned so much from her and all the struggles she faces as a small business during these times of COVID and inflation. The owner is soooo nice and sweet. Okay this review is getting so long lol let me tell you about some of the other treats. Which again, her price points are so refreshing during these expensive times. Banana chocolate chip muffin- I don't like these, but I love them at black goat. The muffin top has the slightest crunch and they use chopped Belgian chocolate instead of chocolate chips. All this makes it's so delicious and so different than any other banana chocolate muffin I've tried. Carrot muffin- again that slight crunch on the muffin top is such a winner. And the muffin is not too sweet, like those store bought one. It tastes fresh, like your actually getting a serving of vegetables lol making you feel even better about eating a muffin. New menu item, croissants - so wonderful! It has the perfect slightly crunchy outer layer while the inside is so soft and all around buttery. AND great news, the Oreo cheesecake cookies are coming back this week!! Back by popular demand, she informed me that these were coming back, as she was rolling out a whole load of new bakery items. (Brownies, hello dolly bars, other cookies) I'm sooooo excited, take all my money! Hot tip: all baked goods are 50% off after 1:30! This place is going to be a problem because I was already here 3 times in one week....even twice in one day. Hahaha. I love supporting local :)

I found parking right in front of the cafe. It's diagonal, pull-in street parking. I walked in. It's a push to get through the door. I was immediately greeted by a friendly, accommodating staff member. I wanted a hot chocolate and asked about the four different ounce sizes. He showed me all the paper white cups. I went with the second-largest size. I also asked that I get soy or some non-dairy beverage added to it. Done! I have a weakness for baked goods. This cafe has vegan options, including pumpkin vegan muffins during my visit. Everything looked so goods, from brownies, to cookies. I saw the large cookie jars staring at me. My gosh, each cookie is larger than the palm of my hand and I have big hands! I wanted a s'mores one so badly. You basically take the tongs, grab your cookie, and place it in a paper bag. I got my hot chocolate and cookie that came to $9. It's not cheap, but it's fair trade goods. I expect to pay slightly more. There is a draft in the cafe, so the merchant bill that I had ripped off the machine before getting my bill blew off the counter and onto the floor. I let the man know, which he appreciated. You can pay by cash, and debit and credit cards. I also provided a tip. As usual, it's up to you. It was a bit of a challenge with full hands to get out of the cafe when you need to pull on the door handle to get out. Luckily, I put my hot chocolate on the bar-like table, pulled the door open, used my foot to keep it open, grabbed my drink, and moved quickly through the door. Problem solved! The hot chocolate is dark chocolate. I happen to love it. If you are more of a milk hot chocolate lover, you might find the hot chocolate to be missing sugar and perhaps taste bitter. I loved it. There was probably more soy in my drink than there should have been, but it was perfect for my less sugary needs. The s'mores cookie is extremely yummy! OMG, if I lived in the neighbourhood, I would buy the jar of cookies every day. It was buttery, chocolatey, and marshmallowy (I know, not a word, but whatever) delicious. It paired nicely with my hot chocolate, as it had slightly more sugar. I would come back just for this cookie alone. There were plenty of seats to sit down. If you sit by the bar-like area with stools, you get a nice view of the area. People-watching is casual in this cafe. It has a nice vibe. You can get a number of fair-trade coffee varieties. I am personally not a coffee connoisseur, but I appreciated both the selection and the cause. I like this cafe. I'd come back to give the muffins and more drink items a taste the next time I'm here.
