Making a stop at The Sweet Shoppe booth is one of the highlights for me and my son when visiting the Ky State Fair. It's become an annual tradition to get a caramel apple with peanuts. (Yes, even over a corn dog!) We compare every caramel apple to the one we get from The Sweet Shoppe. The green apple is huge and always fresh. Plus, the caramel is so thick and delicious. We appreciate they offer to slice and box it for us, which is much easier to eat than on the stick. Of course the shop is known for their fudge and just like their apples, it's unique to any we've tried before. Along with traditional flavors they offer more sweet varieties. I hope to make it to their shop one day! Or at least learn how to get their apples more often.

Cute little shop, we stopped in on the way to E-town for something sweet and they did not disappoint. We got. Cake, ice cream and fudge. They were all delicious!

What a great ice cream place! Our first time here and I'm hoping to swing again next time we are in hodgenville, KY! Right in the middle of the roundabout of town! Excellent location! Plenty of options and other sweet treats to try! Only one person working the whole place! Very clean and decorated with pumpkins and mums! A very cute fall feel. Two giant wooden chairs so you can take a fun picture in them! The girl who was working there was very friendly and patient with us because we had a hard time deciding on what to order. My husband decided on a pistachio on a waffle cone --I'm not a pistachio person and once I tried it , I wanted to switch with my husband...that good! Simply delicious!!! The girl told us that this flavor was not a favorite...so I guess people have not tried it yet!? People... try this flavor -it's delicious!!! I had a waffle bowl with a scoop of coconut, banana pie and a peanut peanut something I can't remember the name-sorry. But I'm still thinking of the pistachio and how much I loved it! Will recommend this yummy place!

We went down to have Laha's burgers and noticed the shoppe was open! We both commented it looks like a beach fudge shoppe. Inside is also kinda beach/country store... the selection of fudge and ice cream was nice and several other treats. We bought five flavors and here we are 5 days later looking at when we can go back because the fudge is that good! And it did not last long with teens in the house!

    Yummy goodness!!

This place is such a hidden gem. Tucked away off the beaten path, it has that cozy, "you almost…read moredon't want to tell anyone about it" kind of charm. The space is definitely on the smaller side, which adds to the intimate feel, but I can only imagine it gets pretty tight during peak hours--especially since they don't take reservations. That said, everything else more than makes up for it. The service was genuinely excellent--attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. And the food? Absolutely worth it. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. If you're thinking about going, I'd definitely recommend timing your visit to avoid the rush. It's a small spot, but one that delivers a big experience.

The menu is extensive so it took a minute for us to order. Everyone had water to drink. Our server brought us some fresh yeast rolls that were hot and tasty. We had the fried green tomatoes appetizer for the table. They were excellent served with sour cream and horseradish and ranch that we had to ask for additionally. Everyone ordered something different. Orders included: 1. Fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. I only tried their cole slaw which leans more to a vinegar base and I prefer a sweeter slaw. There were 4 pieces of chicken. 2. Meatloaf with mashed potato and gravy and cornbread. Cornbread was a bit dry, meatloaf was ok. 3. Mushroom and bacon smothered chicken, onion rings and cornbread. Person said the chicken was a bit dry, the mushrooms and bacon saved the dish. Onion rings were good, crispy and hot. 4. Chicken and dumplings with cornbread. Folks that tasted them said they make better at home, nothing special. 5. Rueben sandwich with corn pudding. Sandwich was just ok. Bread was too thick for my taste, beef was tender. Corn pudding was excellent, hot, creamy. Service was good, resturant quaint, street parking. The train rolling by, blowing the whistle while we ate was a nice touch, although it rattled the building. After we ate, got to go containers and paid we shopped at the adjacent and across the street shops to the resturant. That was fun. After shopping we headed back to the restaurant for coffee and dessert. Again each of us had a different dessert item which included: coconut cream pie, butterscotch pie, derby pie, chocolate sundae cake and the house specially, butter cream pie. All were pretty good. We all liked the house speciality pie, it was super sweet, creamy with a good crust. Coconut pie was a favorite as was the chocolate sundae cake. The derby pie was way too chocolatey for most of us. It is a cute little little resturant with a homey feel that will take you back in time. One of those places where you should try but then say, did that, don't necessarily need to revisit.

Looking at them was enough to know - plus the price point was in alignment to get me to say yes. My favorite bite has been the monster and chocolate chip is close behind. The party cookie is sweet so I ate it in pieces. Now I'm begrudgingly sharing the caramel appledoodle. My husband is enjoying his pecan cookie. The cookies are thick - and some are soft while others are firmer (but in a good way). I've followed the IG page to keep up and the online menu is showing me the other flavors. I need a snickerdoodle!!! If you spot Cane & Flour at a pop-up, make sure to grab a cookie. Or, order online for a gift, when you're in charge of dessert, or to treat yourself. Um, when I double checked where it was, I noticed the close at 7?!?? So we left as soon as we could and got there at 6:35 and yes,, they close at 7:00. But the one waiter there was fine with seating us and he did a good job and was so nice and calm. The place reminded mr of old school supper club type places your grandparents would take you too. Nothing splashy but cute. Upstairs there was a bar and seating area too. The food was soooo good. I got their chicken special and my husband got the steak special for the night. It was so much food but it was just good old cooking yet not just "plain". My husband said the mushrooms he got with the steak were easily the best he has ever had. We ate until we were going to burst. And it was getting late but the staff was not pushing us or anything (we tried to get done as quick as we could though for their sake). It was a really nice experience.
