I feel badly writing this review but maybe it will motivate the owner and the service will improve. A male and female employee arrived , the male assisted the female with bringing everything into the backyard and he asked where they should setup. I was never told That I needed to provide a canopy for the person cooking the tacos, it was a very hot day and there was some shade in an area near the roof but the male asked me if there was somewhere else for the lady to cook that would have more shade. Luckily I rented a 10x10 canopy. Along with tacos I also paid for Elotes and bacon wrapped hotdogs and was told it would come with all the toppings/fixings. I also ordered two 5 gallons of drinks. Horchata and cucumber lime. I was extremely busy during the party and about 2 hours into the party I find out from one of my guests that there were no cups for the drinks. Apparently the taco lady told the guest but my husband and I were never informed until way later and the ice had already melted in the 5 gallon drink containers. Truly unprofessional , why tell my guests 2 hours later But not inform the person that hired you ? If I would've known, we would've left to buy the cups long ago. I was upset and I texted the owner and told him that my guests couldn't drink the drinks because there were no cups. The lady said she forgot cups. She didn't even call or text the owner , I had to and he said someone would be on the way to drop off cups. I told him my husband had already left for the store to buy cups. After this little hiccup I was hoping everything would be fine. Well, I find out near the end that there wasn't anything but butter for the corn and I was told all the toppings would be included. There were no grilled onions and peppers for the hotdogs, no ketchup, mustard, no condiments. So before I paid, I told the owner about everything and he said he would take the corn off the bill which was 60 bucks. my husband also told me the taco lady didn't even know how to start the grill so she asked my husband to help her turn on the gas and also asked for a lighter. The taco lady said she was also sent without any knowledge that she would be making hotdogs and she didn't know what she was expected to bring. She also told me she didn't speak English but she spoke to me in English earlier. My guests said the taco lady was friendly but she made faces after I was real frustrated that she arrived without cups for the drinks. I felt bad for the girl, she was young and inexperienced and she was also on the phone with someone and sitting down. I don't mind her resting her legs but having someone on speaker while you're working an event is clearly unprofessional, especially since there were no condiments and seems like she did nothing to rectify the situation. The same time my husband returned with cups the male employee returned with cups and a 2 plastic bags with ice. I appreciated the effort but , we still had melted ,watered down, agua Fresca and horchata. When the taco lady was about to leave I had to transfer the drinks and the leftover food into my trays and drink container. I noticed she had left 2 bacon wrapped hotdogs in her food container and I asked her about them because the customer is to get all of the leftover food because we pay for it. She said oh, and she put them into my tray. I paid 3.50 for each hotdog and again no condiments or grilled onion/peppers as agreed. The rice was good. We selected asada , pollo and al pastor but about a week before the event my husband said he wanted carnitas and I confirmed with the owner by text but we ended up getting chicken. The meats are good but on the salty side and the asada was a little tough and some parts chewy. My guests enjoyed the chicken and asada the most. The salsas and guacamole sauce were good. I communicated my frustrations with the owner and he was apologetic but how many times can one apologize? It doesn't change the experience we received. Note: we were given a quote for 40 people. This business charges a min of $550 for any number of guests under 50 ppl.. He did also say he raised the prices due to gas and the rise in meat costs. I was unaware I was actually paying for 50 people and I asked how much it was to add extra people and was told 10 per person. I had to go back and forth and have my friend that spoke Spanish call the owner because he didn't respond after 24 hours and I became concerned because my event was just days away. I would suggest You confirm everything included in the package so you are well informed of what is included. Quesadillas were not included. They charge extra for that. A bit unorganized. If they knew they didn't bring cups they should not have put ice into the drinks. The hotdogs were not Street dog sized they were smaller hotdogs. I would've paid more to get better quality hotdogs & bacon. I support small businesses and wish them well. Hope they can improve. read more

Got back to me within minutes with a quote, showed up ready to go the day of our event and the tacos were great!

I made contact with Roberto at the beginning of June. After reading the reviews I was excited about using him as a "Taco Man". Discussed with him that I would have between 50-100 people. Gave me price of $650 for 50 and $12 for each additional person. We agreed that I would be in contact early in the week of the event (date of event was July 6th they were to serve food 6:00-8:00) and give him a final number. He sent me an invoice for 50 and June 3rd sent him via Zelle a $100 deposit. Contacted him July 1 and told him 80 people and confirmed the price and amount due via text. ($650+30($12))-$100= $910. Van arrived at 4:10 on the 6th Joshua and another employee, no Roberto, neither spoke English, he showed us the invoice for 50 people I said no it should be for 80, they attempted to make phone calls and told me they did have food for 80, this is with my broken Spanish. I tried to call Roberto and he did not pick up my call. They also wanted us to provide a table which we did but we were not told previously that I needed to provide a table. If they needed more meat they had plenty of time for one to set up and the other to go get meat. They started serving on time at 6:00. When I went through the line they were almost empty on Chicken so I had 2 tacos with beef. Average age at my party was 50+. There were no "younger folks" trying to eat as many tacos as they could. I had multiple guests tell me they did not get food. One specifically said there was no chicken at 7:00 and another one said she arrived at 7:15 and there was no food and she asked in Spanish if it was inside and was told "se cavo" which means it was "all gone". I paid them the amount agreed upon as I did not want to disrupt my party and figured I would address it with Roberto the next day. I spoke to Roberto on Sunday and he said he was sorry he made a mistake and said he was "out of the country" and he had a lot of parties that day and made a mistake. He would Zelle me back a refund and I said I need the money back by Tuesday COB he agreed. But as of this morning I had no money from him. I had more communication with him today via text and he is telling me that his workers are saying people took food to go. Which is not the case, and that people went through the line more than once. Which I don't think happened and even if it did it should be okay. This is about the 7th time I have hired someone for Tacos and all other times we had food leftover. I paid for food for 80 and I had 70 adults and 4 young girls attend for a total of 74 people including myself and my family. I was so side-tracked by the idea that the food was running out I did not even enjoy the food and can't even tell you what it tasted like. Although there are a lot of positive reviews, I want to give all that are considering hiring The Taco Man Catering Service, a heads up that Roberto or Robert will probably not be at your event, the people that work the event will not make good decisions (and are difficult to communicate with if you do not speak Spanish). Roberto made a mistake which everyone does, but most important thing to know is that he lies as he told me on Sunday he would reimburse me but he was still out of the county. (I am unaware that you can't use Zelle from out of the country). He specifically responded to my text me at 5:00 PM on Monday that I would have the money in my account by 5:00 tomorrow which would have been Tuesday and I have communicated with him today (Wednesday) but have not received and money back. I hope this review prevents others from having to deal with the disappointment and stress that I did. read more

Originally we were supposed to do the full catering service at a my local park but due to the city's unreasonable requirements, we just opted to have them deliver the food cooked. Unfortunately my experience with this catering service was a disappointment. The employee showed up for setup and asked of if we had a canopy because it a warm day and the heat from the grill would add to the warmth. We wanted to make sure he was comfortable so we went and bought a canopy for him to be shaded while he worked. Then during set up the employee brought the wrong propane tank so he left to get a new one and when he came back it was still the wrong one. Again trying to be accomidating my family took the employee (in our car) to get his old propane tank and get it fill up so he could start grilling. The food was okay I paid $720 for 60 people and only had 35-40 which included kids. In my opinion you do not get your moneys worth. Also I paid for them to server from 4:30 to 6:30. The employee was done cooking by 5:30-5:45 and was already packing up his things to leave, he was gone by 6pm. Not to mention the employee was eating the food during the serving time, making himself tacos and eating the chips and salsa. I'm all for serving yourself once everything is Completed but not during seemed a little unprofessional. Lastly, the employee decided to throw out the grease from cooking in front of our house. I have provided pictures of the size of the party and the grease as proof. Needless to say I am upset that this is how this employee decided to represent this business but I would not recommend. read more

We found Roberto's Taco Man here on Yelp and scheduled catering on a Friday for the same weekend. Roberto responded quickly and had staff available. Choices were good and price was reasonable and within the norm. Jose arrived about 45 min earlier than expected but stayed the full time we had scheduled. He was polite, efficient, and left no mess. We chose Carne Asada, Al Pastor, and Chicken. The meat was tasty with plenty of go alongs and salsa choice. Jose even grilled up some veggies for anyone wishing no meat. His quesadillas were also a hit. We have used several Taco services over the years and I will use Roberto's again. 05/2019 We used Roberto again...Mary was our Chef for the night and she was great. We chose Chicken, Asada, and Carnitas. The meat was cooked just fine and the rice/beans were tasty. There was a nice compliment of 3 salsas, chips, onions/cilantro, radish and limes. I called on a Monday for an event on that Friday and they were able to accommodate the event. They were to arrive at 1pm, take an hour for setup, and have food be from 2-4pm. My first encounter when I went outside to greet them was a lady approaching me with her young daughter telling me her daughter needs to use the restroom. Not in the most polite tone and it was a demand instead of just asking, of course I'd be ok with it but just ask ya know. 10 minutes later the lady approaches me telling me that while she is setting up the business owner forgot to pack plates. So while my guests are awaiting the food, I've got to dig through the garage trying to find plates at the very corner behind a bunch of boxes. It can happen to anyone, it's just inconvenient. The food was supposed to be ready at 2pm, it wasn't ready until 2:20-2:30. Not a big deal but by this point I'm already aggravated. The food was average, to me personally it didn't blow me away. For the price, I expected something better. What does upset me is the giant grease stain left on the concrete where the taco lady cooked. What does upset me is the food warming candle that was left on the ground. That does upset me. No, I will not be hiring them again. read more

He catered my mom funeral reception and promised 3 hrs of service but left an hour early, was eating the food while cooking, ran out of meat and also asked us to have a table for him to use. Also since I never even got a carne asada taco... because he ran out of food, I was told by my family how awful the quality of carne asada was. Booked our event for 50 people and on day of event they arrived a little early to serve on the time we agreed. Provided the food, sides, the plates & utensils. Food was fantastic, smelled so good and our guests enjoyed everything! We had carne asada, chicken and al pastor and the 3 different salsas, definitely could go on. I used The Taco Man for my reception, and I have to to say I was very disappointed. First of all, some of guests commented that Roberto was somewhat rude to them when they came for a second plate. Also, in my contract we agreed on the 3 types of meat he was supposed to bring. It wasn't until the next day that I found out he did not bring what I had ordered. Finally, I paid for food for 100 people but had about 60 people. He should have had plenty of food to feed everyone and leave the leftovers.
