This place is definitely a hidden gem - I was lucky enough to stumble upon it while watching stories on Instagram and a friend of mine went here... wasn't sure if the place would be good or not but based off her pictures, the food looked pretty good and the place itself looked cute so I thought I would give it a try. From the outside, it doesn't look like much but when you walk inside, it's the cutest little place ever especially for being quick service. I like that their menu was simple and to the point. They had a good selection of meat choices.. I played it safe and ordered a Carne Asada burrito with everything to share with my dad. This is actually the worst bean and cheese burrito I've ever had. It wasn't even lukewarm when I received it which explains why almost none of the cheese was melted. It was also 85% cheese and 15% beans so I was pretty much biting into cold cheese for most of the burrito. I didn't try the wet burrito but it looked much more promising than mine. The only unfortunate part was that it had hair in it when we received it. The service was the only saving grace of this place. We came on a Sunday around 2 p.m. and it was still pretty packed but it started calming down so we were able to find seats to dine in. After driving past this place for nearly 2yrs I finally was hungry and curious enough to try them after playing board games at nearby Game Nights on 2nd. I also noticed they stayed open until at least 11pm, which was perfect. Although I was the only customer, all the employees were very friendly and professional. It's a reflection of the inviting interior as well I thought to myself. Nothing fancy about my order really. My go-to is usually a carne asada burrito when trying someplace new, and theirs is among the best I've had recently, even from favorite places. Somehow it managed to be one-part hefty, one-part flavorful, and one-part light in the belly, which is quite an achievement! I especially enjoyed the hot, habenero laced salsa, and medium one from the salsa bar. Both had full flavor profiles and nice balance without gratuitous heat. My girlfriend and I tried this spot on a Sunday morning. The only reason I am not giving this place 5 stars is because the meat on my plate was plan cold. I came here with my mom after an appointment and saw that this was nearby. The place is busy and the parking lot can get packed. The place is decorated nicely with indoor and outdoor seating. They sell menudo daily which my mom liked. It had a good amount of tender tripe and tendon. The broth is rich. I got tacos de tripa, lengua, cabeza for myself to try. The tacos were good not too greasy and the portions were a good size. They do have a salsa bar of pickled onions, picked carrots, radish, lime wedges with a green salsa, smoky medium, and a habanero based hot sauce. The pricing felt on the low end and despite the tortillas being on the mini size the taco was packed with meat. I had 4 tacos, buche, asada, lengua and birria . The stand out meats for me were the buche and asada. The lengua and birria was under seasoned and the birria tasted too much like cloves (clavos). After passing two or four taco trucks while running errands FRI afternoon, your favorite Yelp correspondent had worked up a serious craving for authentic Mexican tacos. Already Pomona bound to go pick up my youngest cub, I'd pinpointed Tacos Puro Jalisco (TPJ) based on promising Yelp reviews. To my surprise, TPJ's entrance area was positively thronged with a dozen or more customers all waiting to place their orders. This reminded me of the lines that typically snake around Tacos Del Rio in La Puente, so I took it as a promising sign of a savory meal to follow. Behind the counter, owner ABEL kept the line moving smoothly while dispensing occasional commands to his staff. When it came my turn to pay, I presented my credit card and he replied, "My friend if you promise to bring cash next time, then I'll gladly waive the ($0.95) credit card fee this time." When I good naturedly ribbed Abel with, "But how can you be so sure I'll be back?" he gestured to his packed lobby and crowed, "Ohh you'll be back. They always come back." The mood at TPJ is one of understated but welcome hospitality. People, no doubt enchanted by the intoxicating smells wafting from the kitchen and the staccato soundtrack of cleavers rapid-firing like pistons to finely dice the meat, generally don't mind the fifteen minute wait to order. I ordered eight premium tacos, a sextet of asada plus a duo of Al Pastor, which is served "sin pina" (without pineapple). TPJ dispenses their tacos simply- A pair of yellow corn tortillas piled with a generous portion of any of their half dozen-plus proteins (asada, pastor, pollo, lengua, buche, cabeza and birria). You then circle by their amply-provisioned salsa bar to load up on minced onions, cilantro, radishes, salsas and even oregano. I would've gladly snapped photos of our tacos...but Bradley and I DEMOLISHED them like a Tasmanian Devil devouring its kill. Our total for eight tacos was $21.89. Place seemed clean and we'll maintained. They have a salsa bar with different salsa and all the typical fixins'. I got a carne asada wet burrito woth green salsa and no rice. The meat was flavorful, and not too chewy (as I typically expect woth Mexican places). The green salsa they use on top is not spicy, unlike the red salsa (Chipotle flavor). The burrito is served with a bunch if lettuce, which does help provide a crunch texture. It would be better if it came with some chips instead, but not a deal breaker. Plenty of parking! The area is well maintained, you can feel the pride of ownership. It was just about closing time and everyone was cleaning and stocking. I had only quickly read the menu and stopped at wet burrito. I ordered one with asada and asked for it with half red sauce and half habanero sauce. I was pleasantly surprised by the small but mighty salsa bar. The carrots are always my favorite and these are good! I'll be returning to try the Birria since this was so yummy. The meat is tender (Another pleasant surprise, since it was end of night) and every bite has a good ratio of meat to rice and beans. The Birria Burrito was very tasty and packs a bunch of flavor. It has the perfect amount of sauce and onions. The burrito is a bit small for $12 but it is hard to find this burrito elsewhere. I was sad that they charge a fee to use credit card but guess it is a small business. The service was very fast and the owner was very nice. The interior is also very well decorated and there is space to sit inside. The parking lot has some decent parking - at least enough for the people the restaurant can sit. We walked in and found the place super clean and really cute inside. They had an al pastor trompo cooking on the warmer, which was fun to watch. Our food came out pretty quickly. There's a salsa bar that includes pickled onions, habaneros, a smoky red salsa, and a creamy habanero salsa. I tried the crunchy tripa taco (they offer it crunchy or soft) and while it wasn't super crunchy, it definitely had good flavor. I also got the campechano burrito, which mixes all the meats, and I loved how it let me try different textures. My husband got a half-buche, half-cabeza burrito and now says it's his new favorite spot in Pomona. Carmen who was at the register was so nice as well! Not sure what the hype is about. I can see why people like coming here as the seating and inside is decent and stylish. The tacos are also served with alot of meat and that's a plus in this economy. I got three different types of tacos: chivo, lengua and asada. As far as the flavor I was a little disappointed. Goat has always been a particular favorite of mine. If it comes to slow simmer or slow cooker stuff, I prefer it in chilis, stews, pasta sauces, and even in more esoteric stuff like breakfast hash. This was a perfect burrito to me with the perfect meat and with enough else going on in the beans, rice, and salsa to make every bite outstanding. And yet it was not such a monster burrito to outstay its welcome. I was full at the end of the meal, but not stuffed. The environment was spacious, clean, and the right kind of relaxing. The counter worker was nice and very helpful. I don't have a single aspect I can point to as being the worst part of my meal. But I can definitely point out the best part of meal for sure. The goat. Freshly prepared, well seasoned-full of flavor, and extremely pleasing to my overly particular pallet. What a gem in the city of Pomona! I came here at 10pm on a Saturday night and got two burritos. Each burrito were huge and flavorful. They went for about 10bucks a burrito and it was packed full of meat! The lady in the front taking my order was really sweet and answered my questions even when I didn't understand the menu. The food came out quick and wasn't too oily. I got the carne asada, pollo asada and menudo. I was happy with it all. The only downside was there salsas. We decided to eat here after having a disappointing delivery order a while back. Unfortunately, this was a big mistake. From the start, the cashier made us feel like we were bothering her. She acted as if she hated being there, which immediately set a bad tone. We ordered menudo and a torta. The menudo was fine, nothing special, nothing memorable. The torta, however, was a huge letdown. I was expecting a proper torta with shredded lettuce, tomatoes, queso fresco, maybe some avocado (which I don't mind paying extra for), and some kind of crema or mayo. Instead, I got a dry sandwich with barely any lettuce and an overwhelming amount of onions and cilantro. This isn't a taco... it's a sandwich. Somehow, all I could taste was onions and cilantro. It was dry, bland, and honestly disappointing. That should've been the sign that this place just isn't for me. I'll be sticking to the OG Guadalupana next door from now on. read more

This place is DELICIOUS. I did Uber Eats and this was the first time I tried this place. As soon as I placed my order, they started making it within 30 seconds of receiving it. My food arrived nice and hot, which I don't find common when I place an Uber Eats order. Not only was the food nice and hot, but it was absolutely delicious and the portions are really decent. I went to this place today and honestly, it was disappointing. Let's start with the cashier--while I understand it's a Mexican food place, it would help if she spoke a little English or if someone from the back could assist when needed. I tried to order the Birria taco combo, and she said they didn't have it. Okay... I asked for just the Birria tacos, and she put down "Birria combo." My husband asked about the difference between regular and supreme--we didn't understand, so we just ordered supreme. The burrito we got was tiny--like, really small. My daughter had chicken and cheese quesadillas, and even though she ordered two for me (I only ordered one), that ended up being the best part of the meal. Now, my Birria plate. The manager was great--super helpful and willing to fix the order. I explained that Yelp shows you serve Birria tacos as a plate, and my husband had already told them that's what we wanted, not the combo. He said he'd take care of it. But when the plate arrived... there was no flavor. None. Even with onions, cilantro, and the consommé, it tasted like nothing--like dipping the taco in water. I even added salt, but still nothing. The rice and beans tasted like they came from a grocery store deli, not authentic Mexican food.
