Tail Haven is a wonderful daycare facility and I would highly recommend it. Both my dog and I are greeted each morning with a warm and happy hello. I can always count on ALL the staff to be friendly, professional and helpful. Thank you to Sabrina, Kate, Justin, Miranda, and Waymer for always being at your best. They answer all my questions and have been very accommodating to our needs. Being that we are relatively new for the last 3 weeks, whenever I run into another family and ask them questions they always say the same thing..... that their dog is happy and can't wait to come here each morning. That is very validating that I made the right choice and always nice to hear. The facility is very clean and the dogs all seem to be well cared for. They have one rule that I wish they would change (but I completely understand).... "No reaching in to pet all the adorable pups!!!!!!" How amazing that they take care of the humans as well so all are safe and sound. I have been taking my dog Harper to Tail Haven for over 2 years. She was first a boarding client when I would travel for work and now attends day care daily. She absolutely loves it. She bounces on her hind legs every morning outside, trying to peek her head in to see her favorite morning peeps - Sabrina & Jose. They treat her like one of their own. She comes home happy and exhausted. I love seeing the pictures they post on Facebook of her time there during the day. She has made a lot of "regular" friends. I'm so grateful for the onsite team there. They always give me an update at the end of the day of how she did that day. During the hotter summer months, they bring out shallow pools for the dogs and Harper turns into a little mermaid. After her swims, she'll curl up on a chair for a nap with her friends. read more

I can't say enough to express how amazing this place is. Jose, Sabrina and the rest of the staff are incredibly loving and patient taking the time to get to know each dogs personality and needs. I know somebody who used to work there and the place is a mess. There's cockroaches everywhere if you have a pitbull or any dangerous considered dog breeds your dog will be separated, even if they are incredibly social and friendly. If your dog is barking like a normal dog wood, they'll be put away in a dark kennel room. DO NOT BRING YOUR DOG!!! read more

We were looking for doggy day camp for our very rambunctious Husky and Tail Haven checked all the boxes. They are very professional, clean, polite, and welcoming. The lobby is safe for humans, dogs and cats. Everything about the facility is inviting. It is quiet and calm--not out-of-control or chaotic (I visited one that was all barking and screaming)--not Tail Haven--pure bliss and joy!. Covid procedures are in place--hand sanitizer, masks, distancing (and this is due to the Delta variant). They are super-flexible in drop-offs and pick-ups. The half-day package is six-hours and you can drop-off any time and pick up within the six-hour window. No worries. Happy, tired, eager to return dogs. The interview process is thorough (half day evaluation) and the paperwork is extensive, but that's the sign or a well-run, organized place. Friendly, staff. Can't wait to return. read more

I've been going back and forth about writing this review and after hearing the screams from employees and banging on cages to tell dogs, who surprisingly bark (who knew), "ENOUGH AND BE QUIET" I decided it was time. I have never actually taken my dog here because who would after hearing them constantly berating dogs who sound like get put in cages all day long but I live close enough to hear what goes on from day to day. This place is wonderful. My dog Maxwell, an Airedale Terrier, is full of energy and then some, when he comes here he gets to swim and play his heart out. The staff do a great job ensuring the right mix of dogs are out together and get to know the unique personalities of the pups. We feel really good about leaving our dog here when we go out of town. We also love the daycare and would use it more frequently if we were just a bit closer. read more

I feel bad writing this, but, i'm getting tired of having to wash my dog from the piss and Fabuloso mixture that he's soaked with every time I get him back at the end of the day. I work full-time, and the last thing I want to have to do when I get back home is spend 40+ minutes washing him. He's a golden doodle so that's a lot of work. I think the staff, especially Mark, is very good. Very caring. But, I've asked why he ends up wet with urine and cleaning solution and it's just how they take care of the cement facility. that's not going to change, apparently. Sorry Tail Haven. The BEST!!! Always greet my pup, Fancy, with a smile. They are like family. She runs in and is so exhausted from playing all day when she gets home. We drop her by when we know we will be busy or gone for the day, and have also boarded her extensively. I've tried a few local places and Tail Haven is the best. When we round the corner in the car to get there, my pup starts wagging her tail in excitement because she knows what the day will bring. Win win! read more

My dog is so well taken care of at Tail Haven! She gets so much time to play and have sun, indoors and outdoors. The staff is so attentive and welcomes phone calls to check in your pup. We've taken our cattle dog for boarding (day care & overnights) at Tail Haven and love the care he gets. He's very shy with new people and it's obvious that the staff have been patient and not pushed him or rushed him to try & be a cuddler who loves everyone. He was a wallflower his first several visits but he really blossomed this time and has totally made friends. The facility is very clean, and very safe. We had a scare a few years ago when he was boarding with a private dog walker in SF and he got out one night while her husband was taking the trash out. It was such a scare because we were on the east coast visiting family; fortunately he eventually went back to her place on his own but it was awful to be so helpless. I love that Tail Haven has such a nice air-lock system in place so the pups are very safe even if they're sometimes anxious like my guy can be. I'll try & figure out how to upload some pics. He is often damp from playing or laying in puddles or the water tubs, but he is obviously having a great time! read more

It's probably fine for a one-day stay, but extended care it's a bit boring. It's an all cement dog prison with some plastic pads on the ground and water troughs to get wet in. They don't walk the dogs- they just stay in the same cement prison yard the whole time. They won't let you have a dog walker come walk them. I'm not sure they really play with them, throw the ball or other things. The dogs need to entertain themselves. We've boarded there a number of times, but are moving on. read more

I came here to help with the litter of puppies that Tail Haven has been fostering, and, as a canine professional, was very impressed with the facility. Large play space, separate space for small dogs, very large crates for naps/boarding (enough space for the dogs to have several personal items brought with them). I just can't say enough good about this place. My dogs were well taken care of but just as important my worry wort partner was so afraid that one of our three Keeshounds was not doing well that he actually booked a flight from Montana so he could check on her. Nuts right? Well the staff here stepped up to the plate and made sure that we got a few extra pics of Rosie smiling and having fun and allowed him to relax and trust the staff to do their jobs. No place is perfect but I trust The Tail Haven to care for and protect our dogs they were happy and healthy when we picked them up and that's good enough for us. read more

I live in Novato and was running errands in San Rafael today. My boss had told me that she saw how beautiful and fun this doggy daycare looked which is a huge compliment from someone who doesn't even own a dog! I decided to stop by and check it out as we've been through the ringer and had some pretty unfortunate experiences with multiple other doggy daycares. When I walked in I was beyond amazed by how zen the lobby looked and how fresh it smelt (daycares in my experience can definitely have an intense smell). Sabina (hopefully I'm spelling that right), was such a doll! She gave me a tour and answered all my neurotic doggy Mom questions. The facility is amazing! Huge play area, insanely clean! They have multiple doggy pools, I saw two larger ones and two smaller ones for the little guys! On to Emily the owner...I'm just coming off a pretty awful boarding experience at another daycare, our GSD Gaia is in a cone due to surgery on her ear. Not going to go into that experience other than to say I was feeling desperate to find a safe situation for her. Sabina left a message for Emily to give me a call so we could talk about Gaia's current situation being that she's in a cone. Once we spoke I immediately felt at ease. Emily is an amazing human being with a lot of knowledge. Not only did she eliminate my concerns about her safety but we talked in depth about future training ideas so Gaia can be the best Gaia down the road!! Thank you Emily for taking so much time talking to me. I truly feel like you have the doggies best interest at heart and I'm confident we just found Gaia's new home away from home! read more

I was really nervous to send my Aussie Shepard puppy to any doggie daycare because he's so submissive while playing and I didn't want other dogs to bully him and have him be scared for life. Joshua was really great at working with me and made me feel so much better knowing that he'd make sure my dog would have a good experience. We just boarded our puppy here for the three day weekend after our sitter canceled. I cannot day enough about how warm and caring the staff is and what good care they provided him. He was clearly attached after three days and he's a pretty shy guy.
