I have no problem dropping some money on "status" denim. I have serious difficulty finding pants that fit comfortably, and I find that generally the more expensive brands do it for me. So when I found a pair of Joe's knit pants at a discount store for more than half off because they were out of season and damaged, I jumped on them. They definitely needed some assistance - the seams down the outside of both legs were unraveling. After two wears, I was afraid to even put them through the wash. I just moved to Greenville from California a few months ago, so I really didn't know a good tailor, but Yelp seemed to think Eric at The Tailor Shop was pretty great. I scooted down to his awesome, swanky little shop during my lunch break on a weekday and showed him the damage. He was totally willing to overlook their unwashed, covered-in-dog-hair state, and quoted me $15 to fix the seams up both legs. I originally thought he said $50 and was totally prepared to pay that amount for the seams being almost completely undone on a very nice pair of pants - but then he corrected me that no, he had in fact said $15 (I felt like I was committing highway robbery)! I told him I was in no rush, and that whenever he got to them would be fine. To my surprise, he called me about two hours later to tell me they were ready! TWO. HOURS. When I have had the hem altered on pants in the past, it has taken at minimum a few days - at most a couple weeks. To have the seam all the way down both legs fixed in two hours is pretty impressive! I managed to beat traffic to pick them up before he closed that day, and they looked perfect! After trying them on at home (he has a fitting room if you'd like to do this on-site), I can confirm those seams look and feel like new (maybe better than new since, y'know, "new" meant "unraveling at the seams"). I was absolutely delighted with my experience at The Tailor Shop. Eric was fantastic, and I will likely be dropping off another pair of pants very soon! read more

If I could give more stars I would! Lyla was just as kind and helpful as can be and I am so pleased to find a new tailor. I recently moved from Texas and am in need of pretty regular tailoring services and founds The Tailor Shop based on convenient location. Usually I am a bit hesitant describing how I like my pants/ jackets to fit because I am somewhat particular. Lyla knew exactly what I was looking for and was great at reiterating what she understood I wanted. The end product was great and finished way sooner than I had expected. I already have a few other things in mind for her to work on. As for the service....I left both visits (dropoff/pickup) feeling like I had a new pal. I searched for a place to repair an heirloom I received that belonged to my Grandmother. It was a 100+-year-old buckskin Indian Tribal Gown. It was damaged with a severe tear in the middle of the gown and Eric was excited to take on the challenge and I left it in his hands. Eric gave me the calmest feeling like it was from his own family and he would treat it as such. Eric called me within a few days and the dress was repaired to perfection. I was elated and cried with joy to know that he had done just what he said he would. Eric didn't charge me an arm and a leg and he was an extremely professional. I had an excellent experience and couldn't be happier with the service I received. From start to finish, everything was handled professionally, efficiently, and with great attention to detail. I had taken a pair of boots to be stretched and asked Mr Brockman if he new anyone that would rebind my Bible. I had not been able to find anyone local and did not want to send it off due to the sentimental value as well as the time. He told me to bring it in. Wow, I cannot believe the time he took with so many wrinkled pages and sections falling apart. I was amazed!!! Communication was smooth, timelines were met, and the quality exceeded my expectations. My son recently joined the local Civil Air Patrol Squadron here in Greenville SC. One of his uniforms, the ABU required that a couple of patches be sewn on the top of the front pockets. If anyone is aware of military regulations, the requirements for patches and exact measurements are crucial. If you want it done right the first time with Great customer service go to Eric. I took three suits and pair of pants to him on Wednesday afternoon and one of them I needed by Monday for my daughters wedding. He not only had that one done but he had everything done by that Friday and I picked it up Saturday morning 2 - 3 business days. He had to take the suits in shorten the sleeves take in the waist and hem the the length of the pants. Every thing that Eric did was perfect I am totally satisfied I don't think I have ever been this happy with the alteration of a suit. My Hat is off to you Eric. read more

Eric has been my tailor for the past 4 years and I have had in handle a myriad of alterations including taking in the waist of dress trousers, tapering the leg of vintage fatigue pants, taking in the body of dress shirts, hemming just about every kind of pant, shortening sleeves on sport coats, and turning long sleeve shirts into short sleeve shirts. My Anthropologie dress/hem is probably better now than it was when I bought it, and he carefully fixed the zipper on one of my favorite vintage dresses. There was no rush, but everything was finished in a few days and communication was great. They only take cash or checks just so you know.
