Amazing skill, amazing attitude. I went to get 3 custom made suits altered. My biggest hesitation came from the fact that these suits were made in India where the tailoring and the stitching is a little different from here in the USA. They did an amazing job, actually beyond what i had expected given that i gave them barely two days to get the job done. They had me over for a fitting session to make sure that the suits fit as i want them to - almost like they do when you want to get a tailored suit made. I was really anxious when finding a place to tailor my expensive prom dress. after all the positive reviews, I decided to try the tailor shop. They did a fair job for the price. But after trying it on I noticed there were a lot of runs in my dress that I am a positive weren't there before 'cause me and the boutique owner examined the dress before I purchased. I have been using this master tailor since back when he worked out of the back of Alpha Shoes across the street. His appreciation of customers is impeccable and he stands behind the quality of his work. A few times over the years, a job took a little longer than anticipated. I took my wedding dress to Kelly to be tailored. With multiple layers of lace and no seems, it was no easy task, but it turned out beautifully! I can't recommend the Tailor Shop enough. This is my google review as well: I've gone here twice now, and both times the tailor has done a great job. The first time was to shorten the sleeves on a wool suit and make some button-down dress shirts that were too poofy on me to be more fitted. The second time, he made some argyle vests of mine more fitted (I've heard that some tailors won't touch sweaters because of how difficult they are) and made a beautiful sport coat I picked up at a thrift store look like I'd bought it made-to-measure. Prices run about $20/shirt (taking in the sides/back), if I recall correctly, so very reasonable (Sofio's near Tysons charges over $30 to just take in the sides, as a comparison). The turnaround is very fast as well (less than a week for 5 shirts and my suit jacket, and that was only because I said I wouldn't be able to pick them up during the week, so it could have been even faster). Plus, the owner is a VERY congenial person to talk to, and will give you loads of advice on fit, outfits, shoes, etc. read more

I've been coming to this tailor shop for almost a year. The man (Mr. Foutah) has always been a pleasure to work with. He tailored a dress for a wedding for me, my daughter's dress for her orchestra performance, and numerous pairs of pants. I'm tall but slim, so I get pretty much all of my pants tailored, therefore I like to maintain a good relationship with my local tailors. The woman however, I guess her name is Kelly is mean and unfriendly. She never smiles, says hello, and always has a problem with the alterations that I want to make to my clothes. She tailored a skirt for me once, and I had to take it back and have it redone. Yesterday, I went in with two new pairs of pants to have the waist taken in. She gave me along story about why she couldn't take the waist in. When I told her I had my other pants tailored at this very shop, she then said she could probably do it, but it would cost me $35 per pair. I told her it cost me $20 per pair the last time. She wouldn't hear anything else, so I left. I went down the street to the tailor shop on Maple Fashions and the tailor was happy to take my pants in, and gave me a price of $20 per pair. I am extremely disappointed with "The Tailor Shop" but I have found a new place to take my business to. read more

I live in Los Angeles and was the maid of honor in a wedding in Alexandria. I had ordered the dress online and had it shipped to the bride. When I arrived Thursday night (the wedding was Saturday morning!) I discovered the dress I had been sent, was about 1 size too small. Panicked, I called Kelly Friday morning. She told me to come on in with the dress. Well, within only about 4 hours, my dress was ready. It fit like a dream and I couldn't see anywhere that the alterations had been done. Ok, I was desperate for a quick sleeve shortening on a suit and I called like 30 minutes before they were gonna close and they told me to come in. Not only did they do my sleeves right there in about 10 minutes, they measured and marked 2 other suits for me that I had just purchased. I was able to pick them up within a few days. I just got them back and they are perfect. Also, when I pulled up today, in the rain, the owner was standing outside, ready to leave. He could have blown me off, but he re-opened the store to give me my stuff. It looks like a family owned joint, and I gotta say, it shows. The customer service was tremendous and the work is quality. Not sure how their prices compare to others, but I know the sleeve job was a few bucks cheaper than at the cleaners. I just wish I lived here so I could get all of my clothes tailored here. Kelly was a lifesaver! I had my wedding dress custom made by a tailor who lives in another state and, a week from my big day, I needed the dress to be altered. The top of the dress was made of two different types of lace but the rest of the dress was not lace, which meant that she literally had to detach the top of the dress, take the lace apart, make the adjustments, and put it back together. Not only did she do it wonderfully, but she got it done in just a few days! Oh, and she added a bustle too! The dress looked amazing. So grateful that I found her! read more

I wanted an old favorite denim dress replicated, and after asking around, I couldn't find anyone to give me a suggestion of someone that could do it for me. I saw the sign for The Tailor Shop every day on my way to and from work, so decided to give them a try. What a stroke of good luck! The old dress, which was worn nearly thread bare, had to be taken apart so the pieces (a lot of pieces!) could be used to make a pattern. The changes that were made (some were my ideas, some were theirs) all were great, and the new dress by far exceeded all my expectations. The new dress looks great, feels fabulous, and fits really well. The price was reasonable, and the customer service is terrific. I was given the pieces making up the pattern back, should I ever decide to have another dress made. I had worn the dress for a few months when the zipper got stuck. Being "rather" impatient, instead of trying to carefully get the zipper undone, I gave it a really hard yank, and broke the it. I was in a panic! This was 48 hrs. before leaving for vacation - and of course I wanted to take my favorite dress with me. I brought the dress back, and a new zipper was put in for me, ready for me to pick up the very next day. And to my surprise, I wasn't charged a dime for the new zipper. I would highly recommend The Tailor Shop to anyone needing alterations or a custom garment. I will most certainly be back - as soon as I find a fabric I like to have another dress made, and for any other sewing projects I may need. read more

This is THE best Tailor in town. The owner and his sidekick Kylie have been doing alterations for me, my mother, and sisters for quite some time. For one, they are incredibly professional, and their work is flawless. Secondly, they are so nice, and willing to work with you - they NEVER say no if you are in need of something quickly. Wonderful customer service! I went in several times for my wedding dress fittings. They worked with me so well and did everything I wished! The dress was not the hardest as it didn't have much embellishment on it but everything was seamless! I looked great and they clearly cared to make sure I was comfortable and looked awesome! Being short, she took in much of the waist but you would have never known! She added a bustle, lingerie straps to keep my undergarments in check and hemmed the bottom quite a lot. I have been going to The Tailor Shop for over 15 years. Mr. Footah and Kelly are the ONLY people I trust to alter my clothes. They do really quality work and are always very careful with my clothing. I bring in a lot of designer gowns with complicated beading, and they take excellent care of everything. I never worry about anything I drop off there. I also bring in a lot of casual clothing from jeans to jackets to all kinds of items that may need a simple alteration or a more complex tailoring. All good things to say about The Tailor Shop and Kelly! Took my wedding dress there to get it altered with a fairly short timeline. I had been reading Yelp reviews and calling different bridal shops to get price estimates, and they were all telling me they'd need a certain amount of time or they'd charge a rush fee. The prices were also pretty high to begin with. I found The Tailor Shop on Yelp, and couldn't be happier with my whole experience. I called and Kelly said I could stop by without an appointment, but to bring my shoes I'd be wearing with the dress. I tried the dress on and she gave me a lot of feedback/options about different ways she could alter it. We decided on adding a new seam right down the front of the dress, where there wasn't one before, and covering it up with lace from elsewhere on the dress. She also gave me a couple different options for the bustle, and took the hem up in the front. I dropped the dress off on a Thursday, and it was ready by the following Monday (no rush fee)!! I went in to try it on and it fit like a glove! She had covered the seam with lace seamlessly (;D) in the front and hand-stitched on some beads and sequins to match the rest of the dress's look to a T. Bustle was beautiful and really well-done, and all other alterations were perfect. Price was not a steal, but was good and well-worth all the work put in. Thank you for making my whole dress-experience that much smoother, Kelly! Kelly from the Tailor Shop saved me (and my dress) in time for my Bachelorette party! I found my dress on Thursday (in Chicago), came in on Friday morning to the Tailor Shop to drop my dress off for alterations, asking for it to be ready for pick up by Saturday afternoon. Here's the catch. This dress is completely bejeweled. Not an inch of the fabric isn't embroidered with intricate bead work, mesh liner, delicate fabric and not to mention BONES ( I think they're called)! It would've been an easy "not gonna do it" because this was a tall order, but Kelly did me an ultimate solid and altered the dress.... chest, waist, hips, everything! She had to also remove the beaded work, then redo it, so not to mess up the seams. All this within a 24-hour turnaround. I could not believe how perfectly the dress was altered in such short time.
