Probably everyone you know has an article of clothing that they've kept well past its expiration date. I'm no different. My favorite Triumph Motorcycle hoodie had frayed cuffs and sleeves and was developing holes here and there - but I couldn't throw it out because it's my favorite hoodie. Worse, Triumph doesn't make or sell the style/model anymore. So, despite the fact that my hoodie was kinda gnarly, Union Mill owner Jenny Kim understood my attachment, told me to find another hoodie that she could use to repair mine and told me it would take a couple days. Needless to say, she did a spectacular job repairing my hoodie, so much so that when I showed it to the folks at Triumph Brooklyn in New York City who initially sold it to me, well, they couldn't believe it. PLEASE BE AWARE!! Completely rude staff and zero consideration for their customers. I went in to get a dress hemmed (one layer of fabric) and when I picked it up, I wanted to try it on to be sure it fit nicely and the work was well done. I put it on and it felt tighter than before. I noticed the seam on the hips bunched up a bit and didn't lay on my hips like it did before which was odd to me since I only asked for the dress to be hemmed. The hem work was fine, however I kindly asked why the hips were bunched up and the older lady blamed it on the quality of the dress. When I went up to pay, I felt unsettled with her answers of why the hip area didn't fit well because the dress fit perfectly before I dropped it off at their store, just was too long. The older lady told me I didn't know what I was talking about, that I didn't remember what the dress fit like, and kept saying she was a professional and knew what she was talking about. She was absolutely rude, defensive, and had 0 customer service. This is not how you treat your customers. Instead of blaming, try to help resolve the issue instead of attacking your customers. I told her I wouldn't be doing business with them anymore and she told me if I had complaints, then to complain to the company I got the dress from (seriously??). I ended up paying (because I didn't want to seem like I was THAT type of person) and walked off but I'll be disputing this with my credit card company. DO NOT GO TO THIS TAILOR. Neede a pair of pants hemmed for my father. They only charged $20 and they were ready within the week.

If I could give this company zero stars they would not have one. I recently went to have some alterations done to a few items. For what I needed done, the charge was over inflated. Basically, I was overcharged! I would also like to note that they did not have material to fix one of the items so they asked me to supply the fabric (which I did). When I picked up my garments, I noticed most of my material was gone, which indicated they had used my materials to do alterations for other customers, because they did not need to use that much material for what I needed done. In addition, the female at the register was extremely rude. This company employees/owners need to take a lesson in etiquette. If you're in business you need to learn how to treat all customers! This place is hidden in The Colonnade shopping center (one with the Giant) near the Outback Steakhouse. It's Korean owned, the service is fast, and if you have multiple things done, you'll usually get a nice discount. You come in with your garment, tell them what you want done, get a price quote, set up a pick up day, then pay whenever you pick up. I had a dress altered here. The work done on the dress was superb, I couldn't tell it was altered (of course). I had it taken in the back where the zipper was, shortened, and had the sleeves/shoulders taken in as well. Over the years she has done basic alterations, sewed Girl Scout patches, made Halloween costumes, pillow covers and even new slip covers for my daughter's nursery. There is nothing she can't do. Idk how well their tailoring job is, but I went to see if they could tailor one of my dresses and it was very expensive. I was just gonna leave, but they said "well then you should've bought a dress that actually fit you". I thought that was just very unprofessional and their job is to tailor clothes that don't fit as well... would never go there again. read more

I took flip flops for a repair. They charged me $35 and the repair didn't even last a week! I went back and showed them my shoes. The lady was dismissive and said they can't guarantee the repair??? I am out a ton of money and still need to get the shoes fixed. read more

Forget the dry cleaners! This is where you need to have your tailoring done! I buy designer clothing and always have to have my pants tailored and sometimes my jackets. I used to take everything to my dry cleaners for convenience, but was never completely happy with their service and never trusted them with the big complicated stuff. I bought a sweater dress because I loved it but it was way too big. Union Mill Custom Tailoring did a phenomenal job and now I just go out of my way to take everything here! read more

I've been coming here ever since I moved to Clifton almost 20 years ago. The quality of work is beyond excellent. I am short so I'm always bringing my pants here to be hemmed, I've brought in very old pairs of shoes to be fixed and recently brought in a handbag to have the strap fixed. I'm also a person who realizes that quality work takes time and am prepared to leave items there for however long it takes to get altered. I also am completely happy with the prices given for the clothing. This isn't some dry cleaner/clothing alteration/valet combination. I have an will continue to come here because A. the quality of work is impeccable and B. the prices (compared to some in house alterations in the Galleria) are phenomenal. Plus, you have to have an idea that you don't buy clothing that doesn't fit you, alter it and expect it to be perfect. Especially depending on the material and your body type. They're not miracle workers however they do come VERY close. read more

I have been a regular customer of Union Mill Custom Tailoring for many years. I have had iffy service from this outfit and decided to stop bringing my expensive dresses to them. I figured giving them a hem job would be safe. I was wrong. I requested that my Lucky brand Jeans have 4" removed from the hem. After I picked them up and returned the newly hemmed jeans home, I discovered they were ridiculously too short. When I measured them 8" was removed, double the original amount. They must have been altered twice, was my suspicion. I returned the next day with the over hemmed jeans, a second pair of the exact same jeans (size, brand & wash) that I used as a template, as well as a third pair of jeans on my body. One of the three ladies came to the counter and I told her my story. She turned to another lady speaking in her foreign tongue. That lady proceeded to yell at me and said "You say 4", we took 4." "That is not correct," I said. I showed her the difference. She did not see my point of view. Nor would she listen to my case or conceive that her shop made a mistake. My case was, I am showing two pairs of the same jeans that are 4" longer and why would I wear a pair of jeans that are so obviously too short for me? She instructed another lady to look in the trash bins for the removed scraps. They had my jeans for 7 days. Why would this make sense? If it was done twice, which is the obvious mistake here, she would only find 4" scraps. Not finding the scraps, the 3 ganged up on me and proceeded to yell at me. "NO GUARANTEES!" Two ladies walk away from me as they were yelling. One lady remained and I asked her if I was being compensated for my jeans. I was given a no answer. I was not offered any type of compensation, not even a token. For this lack of customer service, I needed to share this experience of how they treat a loyal customer. read more

A hidden gem! I went on a whim as I needed a shoe shine and tips done before a business trip. Great prices and the work was one of the best. Only issue was they forgot one of the tips for my shoe, but Jenny found it before I did and fixed it. Also she replaced a heel that needed to be done - all in 2 days. I will be back! read more

As far as quality goes they do a very good job. But when it comes to friendliness I felt like I was being talked about and was unwelcome. Way too overpriced, especially since the qualities of their work is nothing amazing. Horrible, horrible customer service. Half of the people there barely speak English. I called to check on the status of the dress I was having tailored two days before I needed the dress, and the woman on the phone almost yelled some sort of gibberish then hung up on me. So i called back, infuriated, and she proceeded to say something about their credit card machine and that she had a customer or something and she'd call me back. Fast forward an hour... she calls me back. I had dropped the dress off two weeks prior for some minor work, and was very specific and made sure it was known that the dress had to be ready by a specific date, which happened to be the Friday before the event I was attending. She then tells me that the dress would be finished by maybe Monday. I was shocked that the dress I was paying entirely too much for and dropped off with enough time in advance would not be ready for a very important event! Luckily, I was able to pick the dress up in time, but when I picked it up everyone in there was very rude and I felt very unwelcome. Don't waste your time or money here. If they do the work right the first time, you're in luck. Otherwise, they won't do anything about it. A pair of pants wasn't tight enough, so I went back to have them taken in a little more. It had been a week or two since the original work. I didn't have time to try them on right when I picked them up and didn't have the occasion to wear them for a couple weeks. I took them back and the lady said I'd lost weight and wouldn't do anything. Then I took a leather skirt to be taken in as well and when I went to pick it up I tried it on right away to be sure it was OK and I could barely zip it up! It was extremely uncomfortable. The girl had me leave it there and rang up a pink slip/ticket that said 'let out' $0.00 and told me to come back in a week. Instead, I got a phone call 3 days later. "You come in. You come in." I guess they couldn't let out a leather skirt, so I went in and put it on to show her how tight it was. She said: "You wear like that. Leather stretch. You wear that." Very pushy. They never fixed the skirt. Never gave my $55 back. Now I'm out the money and a very expensive leather skirt. I do NOT recommend this place. They also seem to make up prices as they go. There is no clear price list or any way to have a ballpark idea what you might be looking at as far as an alteration. They just size you up and make up a number they think you'll pay. read more
