The Take Out is a hip little stop that has the feel of a permanent food truck. It has food, ice cream (like an ice cream shop) and coffee drinks. I had a jerk chicken bowl, which was excellent. The flavor was more sour/vinegar, and not very spicy. But it was flavorful and had an awesome mayo spread. The portion was also generous...a full dinner in and of itself. We enjoyed our meal on the front patio, which has a water bowl for dogs on hot days. There is a nice little view of downtown, and it is located across from the visitor center. Amazing fresh food and nice hospitality, a small little cute restaurant near New River George park. We ordered a veggie bowl with tofu and shrimp rice bowl. I can't tell you how surprised I was to find this amazing place and a small town like Fayetteville. Everybody in the reviews raved about the sushi bowl, so I couldn't resist and order it. It did stand up to my expectations. It was filling, delicious and fresh. The service was top-notch as well. The added bonus is that this place has a variety of ice cream available. The name is simplistic-and not even accurate given that I was able to dine on site on a plate rather than a takeout container-but this was an interesting place. They do customizable bowls of salads or rice (or you can get a sandwich). They're not exclusively vegetarian, but it's quite good with tofu or tempeh (or neither at a lesser price), with a variety of preset topping options. They also offered something that sounded like a hot dog bun with a carrot in it, which I would have tried out of curiosity if my stomach were bigger. My bowl delivered a worthy portion of tempeh, and a nice jerk flavor with plenty of variety in each bite. It was likely better than anything else I could have found in the area. I do note that their hours are quite limited. It always baffles me when places in vacation areas are not open on Sundays. It's a quiet town I guess. But if you have health in mind or particular dietary needs, I would suggest getting in here before they close. read more

Happy to add to the well-deserved five star reviews! We've been traveling in parts of WV where there are not a lot of quality food choices so this place beckoned us and we were not disappointed. We were given a full explanation of the menu by the delightful young woman (can't believe we forgot to ask her name!) and she recommended her favorites. I chose the Pacific rice bowl with tempeh as my choice of protein; hubby chose the Mojo bowl with braised beef as his protein. Menu items can be made as rice bowls, salads, sandwiches, or pitas. Protein choices are braised beef, carnitas, chicken, shrimp, tofu, or tempeh. We both loved our bowls and they were very filling! Limited indoor seating (about a half dozen tables) and some outdoor seating but, of course, you can get "take out". Everything is customizable so you can take out ingredients you don't want and add others. We heard about the cookie guy but sadly, he was out of town so no cookies for us and it was a bit chilly for ice cream. Wonderful service, delicious food, and a cozy atmosphere to enjoy our meal. I stopped here a couple weeks ago on my way to North Carolina. It was a such a delightful stop for a healthy freshly made salad bowl and some chocolate covered peanut butter filled dates. We are in the area for some whitewater rafting and other outdoor activities and found this diamond! I was happily surprised to find a vegan friendly spot. I was torn between so many delicious options and as i discussed options with my family the owner came out to assist. She offered sauce samples to help make a decision. I ordered a rice bowl jerk style with tofu thinking I could get a sushi bowl anywhere. Family ordered a rice bowl pacific style with beef and a rice bowl jerk style with chicken. While waiting for our food we got a sample of the sushi bowl and OHHHHHH MYYYY was that good! This place is a must try! It is worth the travel. We love The Take Out!! Fresh, delicious food with a smile. The staff is unbelievably kind, welcoming & knowledgeable. Today the woman behind the counter let me sample a few of The Stache's ice cream flavors before talking me into trying her favorite: the banana pudding. And man if it wasn't the best flavor I've ever tasted! I'm also a huge fan of the sushi bowl & my sis loves the picky eater. The serving sizes are huge too! I am one of those guys who reads Yelp reviews all the time but never leaves one. But I just couldn't live with myself if I didn't leave a review about The Take Out. We were in Fayettesville last weekend for a rafting trip (also highly recommended) and we swung by The Take Out after our trip and on our way out of town. I'm from Boston, and probably have some unfounded biases, but I just don't think of West Virginia as a place that would have great sushi. But after reading the reviews of the Sushi Bowl, I decided to roll the dice. It was literally one of the tastiest lunches I've ever had. It's a different take on sushi, and it was absolutely delishes, the portion was huge, and it was ridiculously inexpensive. We also got some Hershey's ice cream at The Take Out, and that was fantastic as well. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

I had my 15 year old niece with me for the day and needed something good to eat. The building is very small and homelike with a bit of outdoor seating. We were immediately greeted and explained the menu. They brought us a "sauce buffet" to help decide what to order and see if my picky niece would like anything. The sauces were delicious and we both ordered the Southeast Shrimp bowl. It was fantastic! Tons of veggies and protein and I got to introduce my niece to something new! What a treasure. We popped in for lunch today and will definitely be coming back. We have two vegetarians and another with a limited diet due to GI issues. This place worked amazingly for all of us. The owner was so friendly and explained their philosophy on food which includes eating more veggies. The sauces were all incredible. We highly recommend visiting here when you are in the area. I opted for the Truman (turkey, blue cheese and peach jam), my wife got Korean barbecue wings and fries, my daughter got a kids meal cheeseburger with fries, while my oldest son got a steak sandwich and my youngest son got a chicken sandwich. My wife and a really enjoyed the brussel sprout app which my kids refused to touch. My sandwich was good but a little small and their house made chips are really good but my server never delivered the French onion dip I ordered. My wife was not impressed with her wings but my kids enjoyed their sandwiches. Their house made pickles are really good but we asked for some on the side and never got those either. The only thing that was fast about my experience was the server cashing out my check. It's a good meal but maybe sit at the bar. They seemed to get better service.

I love their vegetarian options but this is a place that assumes if you are a vegetarian, that you like and must have onions and mushrooms in every meal. I couldn't find much other than pancakes/pastries/sweet shit that didn't have onions and mushrooms but fortunately, they were able to accommodate my request for the tofu scramble without onions or mushrooms. GF ordered the vegetarian quesadilla with, you guessed it, onions and mushrooms (among other things). My tofu scramble was good but calling it a scramble is slightly misleading as it is actually tofu cubes albeit very crispy and tasty tofu cubes. This dish was probably potatoes. A few spinach leaves and maybe 1/100th of a pepper. I will concede to the fact that some of that volume might have been taken up by mushrooms and onions. The dish was very good regardless and the accompanying salsa added a really nice extra je ne sais quoi. I also really like the pay first and then leave whenever you want model to avoid being held hostage to bad service not to say that they would've provided bad service but it is a risk anywhere. Regarding GF's quesadilla which I did not have the pleasure of sampling bc of onions of mushrooms "I thought it was decent". When I asked if she had any details or specifics to add, she replied, "no".

We were in West Virginia with family and our dog, and were happy to see they offer a pup cup for dogs.
