When I stopped tanning there I was harassed, bullied, and Leslie even contacted me on yelp to harass me and trash talk the person that I had started tanning with. (See pic) this is after being a repeat customer for over a year. Very high drama and unprofessional. I was a consistent, paying customer, simply looking for most convenient service for my schedule. I am not interested in being involved in unprofessional salon drama. Very bad approach for a business owner. Although the Tan Bar is more expensive than Versa or Mystic, the before, during, and after is ten times better! I don't splurge on girly things too frequently but I definitely was going to pay more to look good in my engagement pics and during my wedding week in Mexico. I emailed the Tan Bar, because it's much easier to do from my work computer than calling to make appointments during work hours. They responded very quickly and were very thorough with the information they gave. They listened to my needs and came up with a plan for me. For my wedding, I needed to tan on a Tuesday because I was leaving to Mexico on Wednesday and was going to be in the pool, ocean, and sun constantly applying suntan lotion for 3 full days before my actual wedding. Terry really considered these circumstances to come up with a formula for my tan. We agreed to go a little darker than I wanted for the wedding because it was obviously going to fade in those conditions. He gave me written instruction on taking care of the tan (for example, use only oil free suntan lotion, don't scrub in the shower, use transparent shower gels, etc.) By the day of the wedding, my tan looked exactly how I wanted it to and very natural! During the spray tan process, Terry walks you through the steps. He tells you initially he has, "seen a million different birthday suits and is gayer than gay." You strip down but can wear the paper thong if you feel uncomfortable in the nude. He airbrushes you by hand and can even provide contouring if you want to emphasize your abs or calves. If you weren't able to exfoliate beforehand, he can spray you with an exfoliating spray for a small up-charge. After the airbrushing, he uses a makeup brush to blend the different areas and tells you if you feel uncomfortable to let him know. Terry is a class act all the way. He should teach classes on customer service! This is one of the best services I have ever received and I will continue to come back for all my special occasion tanning needs. :) read more

Leslie is great -- friendly and professional -- and my tan looked so natural that even people who knew I'd gotten a spray tan forgot to comment on it because it was so natural. Others commented on how great and natural it looked! I've been twice now, and both times the tan looked great. However, the second time, I noticed that the center of my chest began fading very quickly -- within about 36 hours, it looked a little splotchy, which stressed me out since I was supposed to be in a wedding the next day. (The dress ended up covering the splotchy/fading area, thankfully.) I hadn't prepped for the tan any differently and hadn't done anything differently after the tan either, following all instructions. The only difference was that she used a slightly different coloring mixture for my second tan. So, I guess I'd go back to the first mixture next time, since the color looked about the same each time regardless but the first time it didn't start splotching/fading until about 4-5 days later. I wish they offered different pricing options for larger quantities (e.g., a monthly plan or a discount for buying a "package" of spray tans). I can't afford to do this regularly at their current prices, but I would love to. I've gotten so many compliments on how great I look -- very vague compliments because people can't quite put their finger on what looks different about me, which is exactly what you want in a spray tan! So, yeah, I would love to do this regularly but simply can't afford it except for special occasions. read more

I LOVE The Tan Bar!!!! They do an amazing job every single time! I've had both Leslie and Tom spray me and they make it so easy and comfortable- I go completely nude and it's never awkward. I am the guru of airbrush tans, no joke. I gave up the tanning bed a long time ago, and since then have experienced every type of airbrush tanning and self tanner solution under the sun (no pun intended). Norvell, Fantasy Tan, California Tan, Bahama Body, Versa, Mystic, Tahitian Tan, Sunlabs, Sun FX, etc..... First of all, the customer service you will receive here is unparalleled. I have never had a business owner take such good care of me and make sure I left happy. Their passion for this industry and making people beautiful really shows, and it's rare to see that now a days. I wasn't rushed in and out, in fact, Terry took his time explaining every detail and the meticulous technique he uses in his applications, the different types of solutions and DHA percentages (which I am already well versed in), things of that nature. It is truly a customized/personalized experience, based on the look you are trying to achieve. Usually, I strip down, get sprayed, and get out without knowing even what they are putting on me! This is not the case here, you will be treated like a queen when you come here! With all that being said, I was NOT happy with my first experience! I left happy, but after a few hours I looked PEACH! I don't know how else to describe it, it wasn't a guidette deep orange color, but more of a peachy beige light orange, NOT attractive! Instead of complaining though, I kept my mouth shut and decided to keep making the long drive out to my usual airbrush tanning salon. Well.... I mentioned to the girl who had originally referred me to this place that I looked peach and wasn't too thrilled about my final result. Well, she mentioned to Terry that I wasn't too happy with my result, and Terry then personally called me and asked me to come back free of charge so that he could try again and find something that would work better for me! Last week I saw a special in the Dallas Observer for a $25 airbrush tan at this new location. I had previously gotten spray on tans at the usual chain locations where u stand in a box, wave your hands around and POOF come out "tan" (read: streaky). So I have been interested to try the more professional version of a personalized airbrush tan in hopes that it would give better results. The owners of The Tan Bar, Terry and Leslie, were super nice! Best friends they said...super cute! I was nervous about the whole "standing naked and getting sprayed" thing but it was not as awkward as you would think. Very professional! After getting airbrushed I was instantly tan (the initial spray has a bronzer so you look tan right away) and was able to inspect to see if there were any areas I felt needed extra attention. I thought it looked great so a touchup wasn't necessary. Total process took about 20 minutes. The next day after showering I didn't notice any streaking! Perfect tan! Also, it didn't come off on my clothes or bed the first night which was a concern I had. A friend told me a few days later that I looked like I just got back from a beach vacation! I ended up purchasing a 2nd tan for future use at this great price! I am on my 10th day and it is now just starting to fade off. Much longer than any other sunless tan I have had. The place was very clean, and the customer service was amazing. They customize the tan to your eyes/hairs/occasion. I was getting ready to go to Vegas for my bachelorette party, and the tan made me look so good (thinner and toned) and natural. All my friends were impressed. As a pale person who only turns red under the sun, I've had to resort to spray tans from time to time. I had a trip to Vegas and needed some glow. This place had really great reviews on Yelp so I thought I'd give it a try. I'll preface by saying that because I'm fair I always request the lightest/most natural color. The look I go for isn't "vacation tan", it's more "I don't want to look ghostly". Pros: Great location with parking. Fair pricing - if you're paying less than $50 for a custom spray tan then there's a catch. Super friendly & informative staff. That was the standout of my experience. Cons: The color was way too orange. It looked orange in person & it looked orange in photos. It was patchy - there were parts that either didn't get sprayed as much or the product they use doesn't wash off evenly. Self drying yourself with a hose. I realize this is might be nitpicking but I'm used to those wall mounted dryers with multiple drying heads. I didn't appreciate having to dry myself because I didn't want to leave any marks or creases with the product still wet on my skin, plus it wasn't easy to dry off the back. Overall takeaway: amazing staff but the product missed the mark for me as it looked like a bad at home fake tan. read more

In one word: AWESOME! I went in just before a trip recently and Terry & Leslie were above & beyond what I could have asked for with the consultation. I'm a picky-picky-chica...so I wanted to be dark, but not too dark...to glow, but not in a guidette-esque orange kind of way...and I wanted it to last knowing that I would be in chlorine & sand! I walked out of there completely happy with my session. Leslie even said that if there was something I wasn't happy with before leaving town to just swing by for a touch up. Well...there wasn't a single thing with my faux-tan that needed attention. SO...the actual 'tan' was awesome, the owners are awesome, and I was happy so that's always awesome!!! I'd gotten spray tans before and had experienced mixed results. Airbrushing had turned out okay but not great, and booths were always bad news. The tan I received at The Tan Bar was by far the best I've ever had. By far! And it didn't break the bank, either. I had a runway show and was too pale to confidently strut around in front of strangers. Terry gave me different product options to choose from, but in the end, I let him choose for me and do this thing. He knows his stuff. The tan came out so well that no one knew I'd gotten sprayed. The makeup artists kept commenting on what a great skin tone and tan I had. :) In addition, there were no streaks or dark patches. None. That has never happened to me before. There's always an ankle or elbow that's a little darker than you'd have hoped. But not this time. Even more shocking, the tan wore off uniformly. I couldn't believe it! The only part that started coming off before the rest was a spot in between my breasts, but it was so easy to rub/even out in the shower, that it wasn't an issue at all. (Note: This was a whole week after I got the tan.) In short, if you're going to get a spray tan in Dallas, you need to go see Terry. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've tried booths , doing it at home , and "professional" hand spraying quite a few times and it always looked orange and streaky until I found The Tan bar. Now it's the only place I'll use. It's not exactly near my house but so worth the drive. It always looks great. It's very easy to make an appointment online. I've never had to wait more than a minute for my appointment . They explain the process each and every time. They spray you pretty quickly and engage in conversation so it's not awkward. The part that takes the longest for me each time is after they finish you have to dry. This part is very important don't rush it. Wear loose clothing and dark colors. Wow, what can I say that hasn't already been said? This place is great. I'm uncomfortable when it comes to letting it go in front of strangers but they are so amazing at letting me feel at home. They have the best tan colors I've experienced yet. I am making another appt this week. I cannot wait to have that glowing look. It lasts a long time and I take 2 showers a day.
