The food was a disappointment to say the least. We stopped for a burger because the menu showed several choices. They even stated "hand pattied" however they were machine produced and tasted of soy. Similar to a gas station burger. Yuck. Our waitress was new - she stated so - and it was clear as she served our food to us without providing any napkins or cutlery and we had to request that our table be wiped down. The beer selection is remarkable. Food is mediocre and only slightly overpriced. It is extremely loud and super crowded, but a lot of people like it that way. Can take over an hour to get your food. I come here often to grab a bite to eat and every time I have been I have not been disappointed! The beers here are awesome and worth trying while the food is also really good. Over the times I have come this place is always crowded and a popular spot for the youngins to come visit. During my times I have been here I have tried the following: * shrimp tacos - these were really good. The shrimp was fried and came in a sweeter sauce which gave the taco a nice crunch with good flavor. I also got the tap fries with this which I really really enjoyed * pulled pork burger - I had seen a friend eating these earlier and really wanted to try myself. I've been coming in here for the last few months because it feels safe. What I found today is that it was safe because of WHEN I came in. During off hours, hardly anyone comes in. Today it is packed and I am disheartened to say they are not enforcing masks on the way in the building and while people are walking around. It doesn't feel safe at all to me. If you care about your health, only come in on week days. I've seen zero management in the last two hours, the staff can't keep up, and they are not enforcing masks. I would love to rate it higher as it has a lot of chatter in Bloomington, but it just doesn't go above and beyond other places. What fun! This place reminded me of World of Beer. Lots of great selections from Lagers to IPAs to Stouts. They were fresh out of the hazy IPA I wanted...of course... But our server suggested something else (sorry, cannot remember the name) and it was perfect. I then got the Bionic Dragon which was amazing. We shared the fries and feta dip. Both were super yummy! I'm a vegetarian and ordered the black bean burger as a substitute patty on the mac n cheeseburger. The menu did not list that the mac n cheese burger included bacon, nor did the server ask if i was aware that it came with bacon, knowing i ordered a vegetarian item. i had to send the burger back when it arrived with bacon. when i got the second burger 10 minutes later, it wasn't a burger at all. it was a pile of a black bean chili-like mush on a very soggy bun. if you're a vegetarian, never eat here! 0/5 stars read more

Excellent selection of brews, both on tap and bottled/canned. On Saturday they happen to serve Bloody Marys... with a twist! They use sake instead of vodka which was stinking amazing! I may switch up how I make them at home. We happened to go on game day, so it was crazy busy, which put the kitchen behind, so it took a while for our food. My firecracker shrimp tacos were good but slightly cold, and my friend's burger was overcooked and dry, but edible. I imagine the food is better on non-game days. The menu is extensive so lots to choose from. Service was good given the crowd. Wait time was a bit much, but given what she had to deal with, she did a great job. Overall, I would recommend it. I love the atmosphere here for the most part. If you like beer, you'll love The Tap. There is a daily menu that changes the beer list. You can always find something new that you never had before....and thats on tap! They also have 6 coolers surrounding the bar with beers from all over the world. I may not be the best at being able to tell prices when I'm drinking....but some beers are expensive here. I have been shocked at my total after only having 1 or 2. I guess those days I have expensive taste. I have been with live music and love the set up. Band is above the bar and still makes it easy to carry-on conversations. Had a great experience at the Tap! We went there on a pretty slow day at a pretty slow time I imagine because the whole bar was open. This meant that we could get a table that we chose, so I guess that was a bonus. We ordered a round of drinks and some fries and planned to drink and eat quickly because we had some other things going on early in the afternoon. I ordered a Brickyard (amber ale) and I would happily get this beer again! It was extremely smooth and had a great flavor. The girlfriend ordered an Apple Pie ale and it was awesome! It came with cinnamon sugar on the rim of the glass, which made the experience of it even better. I would recommend either of these. As I said, we also ordered the fries! These came out and were delicious! The sauces they provided each had a different, good flavor (beer cheese, aioli, seasoned ranch, pesto). My favorites were the beer cheese and the pesto! When I go there again I will likely get one of these two beers and ask for these two sauces with my fries! The last note that I have is that I loved their immense amount of beers that they have on tap. I didn't count how many, but they certainly live up to their namesake! Very possibly the worst burger I've ever attempted to eat. The bun was so hard it literally crumbled to the touch. Taking a bite was unbelievably unpleasant. The bison was dry, flavorless. Even the bacon was almost unedible. I can't fathom how anyone could make a sandwhich that bad in their own kitchen. The only thing that was edible was the fries which were decent. Even the tortilla chips were the worst quality I've ever had. How cheap can these chips be that they taste so bad? This is one of my favorite places in Bloomington for food and beer. The food is great (especially the Tap Fries), and you can't beat their beer selection. Sadly, the music is always a little too loud. They have been inaccessible to people with disabilities in the past. I would call ahead and make sure they have tables to seat you before you drive over if that might affect you. I came here 5-12-2017 this was my 3rd time to the tap. I really enjoy their beer section. The have great appetizers. The french fries are really good I love the the dips they give you. I would ask for an extra of the pesto and chipotle ranch are some of my favorite dips. I have also had the Ahi Tuna salad and it was very good. This place can be load, if you want more quite I would go to the back. it also can be busy but it seems like it it moves fast. Great place to chill if you want to have a beer. read more

The fries. The fries. The fries. I can't repeat that enough. They aren't everyone's cup of tea, but they are my favorite by far. They come with four sauces. Beer cheese is my fav of the four. If you like to get tipsy fast, I recommend the Nefarious Nector. High alcohol content. Zombie Dust is also a crowd pleaser. On the weekends, there's live music but sparse seating. If you're going with a large group, get there early and settle in to share some apps. The pop art on the wall is good for conversation as is the physics behind the fake fire at the back of the restaurant. Have your ID ready for literature loving front door staff if you look like a youngin'. But seat yourself upon entry. The high chairs make you feel more important than you actually are, so enjoy the power high. read more

THE FOOD IS AMAZING BUT MY SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE I really don't know how to rate this place since this isn't my first time here. I come here pretty often, very loyal, but the attitude from my waitress today was just horrible. On the menu it states that a side order of tap fries are $1.5 to substitute and $3 to add to a meal (I also had the southwest grilled chicken salad, which is to die for btw). I was charged $4.50 and when I asked she went "well that what it rang up as" and even after looking at the menu she goes "ugh well if that's big of a deal I'll change it" Get my bill back and it wasn't changed and I was already charged. I know some might think "it's only $1.50" but when you're in college every penny counts. The food here is amazing though and they have so many different beers on tap. Have been coming here for 7 years. It used to be great, but now they hire 80% white blonde women who have no service experience & are awful. They've increased their prices exponentially. Beer is often watery & you can tell it hasn't been refreshed. Upland is killing it compared to them & for around the same price with seasoned waiters & bartenders who actually have lived in the community for years, not lazy inexperienced college kids getting their first job. read more

So I used to love The Tap. Went there a few months back they served cold food. Have it another chance and they served cold food and forgot about one of my party members order. Gave them another chance and it took us an hour and 45 minutes after we ordered to get our food. The people next to us told me they had been waiting on there second round of drinks for an hour and 30 minutes and when the server finally came she told them they forgot to place the order to the kitchen. I am very upset with the service and the quality of food now. This restaurant is nothing like it used to be and it's sad because it used to be the go to spot on the square of Bloomington. I'm very unhappy about the quality and I didn't enjoy my experience whatsoever. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone anymore and most likely never be going back read more

This was a wonderful place we came for my cousin's graduation lunch. We came down to the downstairs portion and we had a wonderful time as a family catching up and enjoying all the delicious food and beer. We ordered all the appetizers and all of them were great! The shrimp was perfect! We ordered the margarita pizza, tuna tacos, cheeseburger, southwest and gyro salad. The black bean was my least favorite.
