Very Pet-Friendly - Guests are welcome to sit both indoors and outdoors with their pets. We initially sat outside, but moved indoors once it started to get chilly--heaters would have made it more comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind; a few employees even brought treats over for Luna, and she quickly made some new friends. The staff are amazing and Michelle, the owner, runs a really happy ship. They all adore our dog and it's also HIS favorite place in TR. In summer you can sit on the deck and enjoy the live music. A cute place to grab a drink! We were walking around Travelers Rest and thankfully they had plenty of signage on the road to make it easy to find down the alley way/walkway. It definitely feels more like a wine bar than necessarily beer. They had a few beers on draft and they were different beers than what you typically find which was nice. They have many options for wine by the glass. They have a variety of seating options, we grabbed a table and hung out. They have a private room as well. The bartender who helped us was super nice and friendly. He offered suggestions and offered us to taste anything we were interested in. Would def return for wine! read more

A really nice place for a drink! It's mostly a wine bar, with some bottled, canned and local draft beer. It has a bit of an industrial meets nature design. Two non-gender restrooms are clean. The employees were all welcoming and friendly. The bottled wine is a bit over-priced vs other retail establishments, but the glasses were reasonably priced. I enjoyed my glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. There is plenty of room to spread out both inside and outside. It's quite a little gem. We would recommend it, and we would return. read more

The tasting room is ideal for what it is, a small beer and wine shop that allows you the opportunity to drink it on their premises. The place is small, so don't expect to bring in the entire football team and be comfortable. They have two beers on draft, which will rotate pretty normally. They have some cheese and cracker type items for serving and have wine flights for those who want to try their hand at several different wine flavors. The gentleman running the place was very courteous and energetic. And I really liked the music playing In the background, seems like it was a lot of Frank Sinatra and Rat Pack, that always brightens the mood. There is a nice small patio out front that lets you sit yourself almost on top of the sidewalk and enjoy the outdoors and downtown area. My biggest suggestion, or mild gripe, would be for the tasting room to invest in lounge chairs, couches or at least some more comfortable or visually pleasing tables and chairs. Ultimately, the blandness of the seating arrangements are the biggest downfall. Perhaps with a little growth of the business they will move forward with the furniture. But understand that this is not a restaurant or a bar, but instead Travelers Rest's tasting room. read more

Sweet tasting room in Travelers Rest with plenty of seating from the bar area to custom wine barrel tables. There were also outside options for seating with string lights to set the mood. Flights of beer or wine, as well as by the glass or bottle were options on the menu. There were also charcuterie items and local chocolate for sale, although we did not try these. The atmosphere is very casual, and the staff was very friendly. Pro tip- at the end of the bar, there is a canister of pretzel nuggets that you can dispense yourself!! My wife and I have been here several times, sometimes with friends and sometimes alone. It's a comfortable, cool place to hang out, especially on the porch (the indoor furniture is drab and uncomfortable). As other reviewers have written, the owner is very warm and welcoming and has great knowledge of the extensive supply of beer and wine he sells and serves. My only quibble is the with $5 "corking fee," which seems excessive (after all, they don't charge to open a bottle of beer and pour it into a glass) and a bit discouraging. I'd think the owners would wish to encourage their customers to sit, talk and enjoy their wine rather than charge for the privilege. Overall though, this is a welcome addition to the growing, eclectic TR downtown. read more

I visited The Tasting Room this past weekend and it was a great experience. Employees were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. There was a great wine and beer selection, and though I didn't order any food, they serve cheeses and charcuterie platters that I definitely want to partake in on a future visit. Additionally, prices are extremely affordable as bars in Travelers Rest go. The location is small but they have a couple of tables, a small retail section, and even a few games for patrons to play if they want to hang out for a while. The music they were playing was quality and at the perfect volume level. All in all, a great experience from beginning to end. I highly suggest this as a stop if you're in Travelers Rest...especially if you're winding down from a hike or bike ride or something along those lines. read more

When I was young, we used to give Travelers Rest (TR) such hell and now here I am loving what TR has been doing to make the area such a cool place. The Tasting Room is such a neat nook nestled by some other restaurants. Great selection of wines and beer, great & extremely knowledgeable staff (which may have been the owners,) and just an extremely cool decor & porch area to make you want to sit and stay a bit. Travelers Rest once again has a place that knocks it out of the park ! Wine , by the bottle or glass and beer on tap or lots of bottles to choose from . I was so impressed. It's such a cute place . They have cheeses and crackers as well . Get the garlic spread , seriously good . We spent about 2 hours just talking and enjoying but as we were leaving it was getting busy . The Tasting Room is one of my all time favorite spots. We try and go once a week - we always start by trying the flight of the week before selecting a glass or two to enjoy. You can't go wrong sampling 3 wines of the week for $6 (or create your own flight for $8). We've also gone to many of the tasting events featuring different wineries. There is a great selection and Evan is always helpful when you're not sure what to get - let him know what you like and he will find something that is perfect for you. There is also a great selection in terms of price - can get lower, moderate price, and more expensive bottles. Also can get things ordered. Great to sit out front in the summer and enjoy a drink looking at downtown TR. Can't say enough wonderful things about the Tasting Room! read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Tasting Room! It's got a fabulous location near the Swamp Rabbit Trail and some tasty restaurants. The seating is great, whatever the season -- in warm weather, the back porch is comfortable and perfect for relaxing, and in cold weather, the fireside lounge is perfect for warming up! Evan knows wine inside and out and can recommend the perfect wine for you, whatever taste you prefer. (One of my faves is Pessimist -- strong recommend!) Plus, there's a great beer selection, too! I don't live in town, so it's always a treat for me to visit the Tasting Room, and I ALWAYS make time for it when I'm back home in western NC. read more
