Scam Alert This company is a scam. I hired them for chimney and siding work, but the job was done poorly and my home still leaks. Nails are sticking out, siding was not replaced as promised, and the invoice came under "chimney Sweep & Repair," even though they advertise as "The Texan Chimney Sweep San Antonio." I checked with Bexar County and could not find any business registration under Chimney Sweep & Repair . I filed a complaint with the BBB, but the company has not responded. Called them seeking to get my annual chimney sweep. They told me it would be $99 and that they could come up the next week. Sounded good so I set it up. Tech arrived early. He wanted to check out things on top first. He went up and came back and said that there were some items he would recommend and that he would write up the estimate. He came back with 3 items, caulk the wood $300, deep clean the chimney $830, and change the metal on the top of the Chimney $1850. So it was the famous bait and switch, offer to do a cleaning to get in the house and then ask for 30x more than the original estimate. I informed the tech that he wasted both of our time and asked him to leave. I guess no fires this winter, will get it cleaned next summer when they are really looking for work. read more

Honestly, I struggled with whether this would be a three or four star-er. We moved into a new home in July, and with the weather cooling, we needed our fireplace evaluated. These guys had good reviews. So, as is the norm these days, I went to their website, and was happy you (seemingly, misleadingly) could book an appointment right on the site. Unfortunately, I think booking on their site is a fishing tool. Later that day, I got a call saying they couldn't do the appointment on the day and time I chose, but they could do it a week from then. Why, then, would you have the option to book on your website? It has to be just to generate appointments with people willing to "re-book" when they learn they can't have the actual day and time they want. I went from thinking our appointment would be in a couple days....turned in to over a week later. Misleading. Strike one. The actual appointment went fine, and I thought their price for an evaluation was reasonable. However, by the end of the visit it felt like I'd just left a mechanic.... You know what I mean. You take your car in for an oil change, and all of a sudden they tell you your "car" aka chimney needs $1,000 cosmetic work. The work very well might be necessary, but it felt the potential problems were a tad exaggerated in hopes we'd cave and have the work done. Strike two. Then, a few days later came the gimmick; I'm on my way to work when I get a call. They're calling "everyone who recently received a quote", informing them if they schedule the repair it would be 10% off the quoted price. Now, I'm not one to throw stones at marketing practices...god knows you have to stay creative. But, this just felt too gimmicky. You basically just told me the price you quoted me the other day was high.... Overall, disappointed in what I consider fishing practices, got decent service and was quoted a price they later told me was high....? I'll get a second opinion on our chimney, thanks. read more

I had them come to my rental house for a chimney sweep/cleaning. They told my renter I needed $2,000 in repairs and not to use the chimney, or they'd burn the house down. I got a second opinion, and the chimney needed no repairs, which I suspected was the case. If there are issues with my chimney, you call me, you don't try to scare my renters into thinking they are living in a fire hazard and paying a few thousand dollars to fix it. Additionally, I told them to bill me directly, which they agreed to. Then they made my tenant pay before they would leave AND sent me a bill. If this company recommends repair work, I highly recommend getting a 2nd opinion. Or better yet, use a different company that is honest to begin with and save yourself from having to pay another company to come out and provide a 2nd opinion. read more

I scheduled an inspection & service of my chimney & fireplace. The guy walked into the my house, looked at the fire place & literally said I can't service your fireplace or chimney. We were shocked & asked well we're smelling a lot of humidity coming in from outside into the house from the fireplace. He said let me look at the chimney from the outside. I lead him outside & he looked at the stack & said oh you need to change out the cap & that'll solve all your issues inside. I said okay, how much? He said $800.00. As far as chimney repair, I grade them as fair to good. In repairing my chimney they damaged my roof requiring further repair by another company to prevent water damage. They presented themselves as experts in animal removal. When the job was completed, Moses declared with 100% certainty that all the racoons had been removed, and stated that to further inspect, brick from the chimney would be required to be removed causing another several thousands of dollars to repair. However, two other babies were recoverd out of the chimney the next day, and no brick was touched in the process. They left debris on my patio from the repairs failing to clean up after themselves. To have this company repair your chimney you may be safe, for critter removal, do not even consider they have any expertise. read more

We hadn't used our chimney in 8 years. Manny came to check out our chimney and was very polite and professional from the start. He first got here and looked into our chimney and happened to find a live racoon in it. We had no idea how to handle this. Manny gave us a few options and we were able to get the racoon out. He went over and beyond to guide us and get our chimney back to working order. This is an old house so alot had to be done to fix it. He was very patient and very helpful in getting our chimney fixed and maintained. We actually have a fire in our fire place as I'm doing this review. Don't trust them! There was No Deep Cleaning. They only brushed my fireplace with a soft brush and a vacuum. They didn't use no water nor cleanser and dirt still remains.  The outter part of chimney pipe was not cleaned.  They did not unscrew or unfasten the cap basket/wire on top of chimney. They didn't even brush the rust on the wire. They sprayed it with black spray paint and put roof sealant where the rust was worse. All the wire was not covered with spray paint. I never seen him sanitize my fireplace for mold, mildew, rodent particle/disease.  I asked you when that was going to be done and he said "he already did it when he had his mask on".  I never smelled a strong chemical nor seen fumes that you supposedly applied and he never told me to vacate the living room like he stated prior to the service. He did have a spry bottle of some sort and a small Ryobi Electrostatic that was present but not too sure of use because I never seen nor felt my fireplace moist or wet and you never wiped anything down. As for the paint job, he directly sprayed black spray paint over dust particles and rust on my fireplace walls. Which I can feel with my hand. There is visible dirt still in the fireplace and some areas of my fireplace walls are not covered with paint than other areas.  The Sealant was not put on neatly nor professionally. It was slapped on the outer side of the chimney on the roof with some Liquid Nail placed around it. i'm not sure what purpose that is serving but it does not look like a professional job. Also strips of Liquid Nail was placed on the corners of the chimney in an unprofessional way.  They did not put a Flashing on my Chimney!!  They also did not sweep/clean up the soot from my fireplace off my floor nor the bottom of my fireplace. I guess because they didn't have a broom, towels, or cleanser. read more

Needed the trim work and cap redone on the chimney. They came in significantly lower than the company that was doing the roof work. Took a couple of weeks to get the cap in stock. Once it was in, got a call, they came right out and installed it and painted the new trim to match. They also used cement board vs wood this time so will probably last longer than me which is good! read more

I made an appt. to "clean and sweep" my chimney. They send a very young guy that I could tell he did not know what he was talking about. He arrived at gate at 9:07. He went inside and asked me when was my chimney cleaned last time and he started taking pictures from the bottom to top of chimney. Then he told me I had a problem with the top of my chimney (chimney cap) with water coming in chimney and started showing me pictures that showed water damage and he said that if I didn't fix it it will cost me lots of money in repairs. I asked him to share those pictures and to give me and estimate so i can show my husband of this problem. Then, he got ready to clean the chimney. Because I saw he wasn't planning on covering around the area, I asked him if he could protect the floor around so it didn't get it dirty. So he did and proceeded with the cleaning that took him less than 7 min. I and still had to clean the black stuff everywhere he stepped on the floor. He said he was finished and I asked again if he could share the pictures of the problem he said I have with the chimney top. Then he said oh, no, those pictures are not your pictures, those are just examples of what happens when you have leaking problems in your chimney. Then, I realize he didn't even know if I had problems or not. I said, so how do you know I have that kind of problem? He said, "do you want me to go up and check it?" I said no. I di not trust him to go up there anymore. I just wanted him out of my house. I realized, The Texas Chimney has this promotional price for "sweep and clean" your chimney with the intentions to make you believe their lies. His visit was done by 9:20. and probably left by 9:30 because when I was trying to pay, his computer device was not charged to make the transaction, so he had to charged it. This review is based upon price gauging and shoddy workmanship. After being charged $556.41 for "fixing" a leak in our chimney and cleaning the dryer vent (which we didn't ask for). We experienced the same leak when it rained again. We called them back and asked for another technician but we were told they have only one technician for the Houston area. After talking to the same technician when he showed up I decided to have him cover the chimney because I no longer could trust him. I had to call another chimney company. The second company said the chimney caulking was all cracked up and loose on top of the chimney. Texan Chimney also charged us $42.41on the total bill. But to my knowledge there is no tax on labor in Texas. read more

We had a home inspection prior to buying last month. The inspector noted that the chimney was dirty and he didn't notice anything major, but recommended we have the chimney inspected for proper operation and cleaned prior to use. I scheduled service online when I wanted it. I got a text the day prior confirming a service call. The day of the technician called me when he was on his way. He came within the 3 hour window like they said he would. He was professional & courteous. He inspected our chimney in the house and from the roof. He cleaned everything and cleaned up what little mess the process created. I've never had this service done before, but the price seemed more than fair when you consider what a plumber and electrician cost to come out. The guys did a great job. They were a little late, but the office called me and let me know that they would be late.

DO NOT USE this company!! If I could give no stars I would! They said they would clean our chimney for $99 and when they came out they said our silicone was bad in the cracks and needed to be replaced by they didn't have the correct materials and would have to come back. They tried to get me to pay for the full quote and I refused. They said they required a $150 deposit and would come back in a week when the caulk came in. Total was $275 + $99 for cleaning. They came back after I had to chase them down and applied 2 beads of silicone, painted them black, and ran a brush up the chimney for 2 mins, vacuumed up the ashes with a vet/dry vac for 5 mins and were done in less than 15 minutes. I asked several questions as I thought the work was done insufficiently but was told that they knew what they were doing. My husband came home from work and saw the work, looked up in the chimney and said the work was shoddy. The beads do not seal at the bottom of the cracks and there is no caulk on the bottom corners. They continually tried to upsell us on other services. read more
