We have frequented this restaurant multiple times and my wife and I have ordered the exact same dish every time. The food quality and portion sizes have varied each time with this last visit literally half the size between the three dishes we were served. It's like buying a lottery ticket and hoping it's "normal portion size day", lol. If you want to take your chances, this is the place for you. Good luck, you're going to need it!

I had been eating to try The Thayer since it opened. Stopped in for lunch today and couldn't have been more pleased. We were warmly greeted in a timely manner. Our waitress was also warm and kind, welcoming and efficient. The wait time for our meals was excellent. I had the sweet chicken sandwich with fries and enjoyed every last morsel. My sister got the shrimp fettuccine. Perfect dear to the shrimp and the Alfredo sauce was delicious. Would certainly recommend it. An excellent, historic dining experience.

Super delicious and spooky. The owners are super nice and gave us a tour as well. Get the pasta or burger.

A nice change of pace - more relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. We tend to eat at the Thayer for dinner. Great happy hour!

Service was on the slower side, though our waitress was friendly and pleasant throughout our visit. The food was very average overall. The walleye platter was disappointing, as there were quite a few bones in the filet. The half chicken, however, was good and probably the best item at our table. Overall, it's a nice spot for the view and a casual meal, but the food and service were just okay and not necessarily worth going out of your way for.

It's a great campground/permanent place to stay with great neighbors, a large lake, and plenty of things to do, and to go relax. My wife's father in law is having an upcoming birthday, and we bought the extended family dinner at the local Waterfront restaurant. This place is always packed and is open for dinner only except on Fridays and weekends I believe. When we arrived at about 4:30 pm, we were seated immediately and there were a total of six of us. Two children, and four adults. We all ordered apps, mains, and drinks. The wife and I ordered a martini on the rocks, as in a lowball glass, filled with ice, and vodka. Nothing else. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. Sure enough, a stacked glass, ice and vodka. I think I caught the waiter winking at my wife when he dropped off her drink... Anyway, the apps were Bavarian pretzels and cheese curds. Sounds simple enough, but they were perfectly fried, and the pretzels were so hot no one could touch them for about 20 minutes. They had a super crisp outer brown crust, and were pipping hot and tender on the inside. They were served with a nice cheese sauce on the side. Get these. The cheese curds looked very good as well with a nice flaky crust, and served with a side of marinara sauce. Unfortunately, the kids shoved these into their respective face holes so fast I didn't get to try them. Looked good though. The mains were pasta and a hamburger for the kids, and the adults got a steak filet, a bowl of chili, beer battered jumbo tiger prawns, and I tried the beer battered Canadian walleye, broiled tiger prawns, and broiled scallops. The mains came with a nice side salad with fresh peas. The salad was pretty run of the mill, but the peas were a nice sweet touch. The potatoes au gratin were very good as well. One of the better sides. Again, these came so hot that it came with two ceramic dishes stacked on top of each other. I would recommend the fried beer battered tiger shrimp. They were huge, and looked like small lobster tails. Perfectly fried and the shrimp was moist on the inside. The walleye was pretty good as well. The pricing of the food was pretty decent as well. With drinks, apps, mains, and 20% tip, the total came to $275.00 for the six of us. A bit spendy? I thought it was a decent price to pay for a very good dinner for a special occasion. Well worth it, and I will definitely be back.

She checked with me to see how the food was, and consistently made sure I was enjoying my time. 12/10 I would like to add, there was other staff that would ask to see how I was doing. Super thoughtful, professional, and relaxed. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Most of the atmosphere though comes from the staff. My wrap was delicious. We ordered the lettuce wraps, Korean street noodles, a mocktail, and a non Corona. (They're down with the nons, which is a GREAT addition to any menu. Owner, thank you for that, I desperately needed to trick my brain into thinking I was drinking a real beer tonight.) The menu is diverse, they have simple known dishes, and different styles of dishes you haven't tried before to mix it up a little. Give the hare a try? Absolute yes. The ambiance is calm, music at a decent volume, and lights are low, and the food and drinks are plentiful. This is an easy first date spot, late night food spot, or chill evening to gather with friends! The staff was helpful, warm, and super prompt. Will be back, great vibe!

There is a large parking lot with free parking. When we walked in, the place was pretty dead. Typically not a great sign around dinner time. Our server must have been new because he had very nervous energy and kept forgetting things. We couldn't quite figure out the vibe for this place. Is it Minnesota? Is it 90's? It just felt off. The food: the wings were pretty decent. I wish they had more seasoning on them! The pad thai was very average and left us wanting bolder flavors. The tacos were stuffed and almost too hard to eat. The flavors were good. I will say, the portions here are very large! Overall, this place just seemed "off" from start to finish..." Unfortunately I would not recommend this place
