Bearnaise sauce? Seems to be separating.

We have frequented this restaurant multiple times and my wife and I have ordered the exact same dish every time. The food quality and portion sizes have varied each time with this last visit literally half the size between the three dishes we were served. It's like buying a lottery ticket and hoping it's "normal portion size day", lol. If you want to take your chances, this is the place for you. Good luck, you're going to need it!

I had been eating to try The Thayer since it opened. Stopped in for lunch today and couldn't have been more pleased. We were warmly greeted in a timely manner. Our waitress was also warm and kind, welcoming and efficient. The wait time for our meals was excellent. I had the sweet chicken sandwich with fries and enjoyed every last morsel. My sister got the shrimp fettuccine. Perfect dear to the shrimp and the Alfredo sauce was delicious. Would certainly recommend it. An excellent, historic dining experience.

A nice change of pace - more relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. We tend to eat at the Thayer for dinner. Great happy hour!

We stopped for lunch and had a great meal. Over the top wedge salad and stuffed portabella mushrooms. Very delicious.

The customer service at check in was lackluster, but I gave the employee a bit of a hard time and he cracked a smile, telling me it was his Friday-- all good! The room was nice. Double queen, a single chair, plug ins for all different charger types in several spots throughout the room, Keurig coffee maker and a mini fridge in room. My two slight "complaints"-- the A/C blew straight out into nothingness (I don't understand why they don't direct them INTO the main space of the room, at the beds) and the shower water didn't get very hot (maybe most people don't like to turn red when they shower?‍) neither of which were earth shattering or made my time any worse. Oh, and the pillows-- weirdly airy, hard to get comfortable on, but better than flat lumpy pillows! Can't make everyone happy The casino itself was very nice, all non smoking which I appreciate so much! A lot of slot options, table games (can't talk much in those as I don't play), self serve beverage stations located all over. There IS a smoking room in the middle area of the casino for those who don't want to go outside. There are also several food options. Caribou Coffee was my stop each morning (Mint Condition!). There was an ice cream and dessert place called Sweet Temptations (didn't get a chance to try it), a cafe as well as some sit down restaurants and more fast food type offerings around the back. Also looked like there is a sports bar getting ready to open. The hotel also provides shuttle service to and from several places in the area throughout the day such as Mall of America. That was a nice option for my husband who joined me but was not part of the conference. As for our event, I can only assume that the buffets and food that we had were catered by the property... most of it was pretty unimpressive and flavorless. I don't want to dwell on that too much, though, for this review. Overall, if I am ever back in that area, I would visit again.

Some areas seem outdated while other areas are quite modern. It could use a total makeover to make it more cohesive. Otherwise, it was great for a work gathering of 500+ people.

5 stars at a Best Western you say? You betcha! Is it a 5…read morestar hotel? No. Did they still earn a 5 star review for expectations vs reality. Absolutely. On entry, you're welcomed by a fireplace & comfy seating area, as well as friendly desk staff. Check-in was easy & we were given water & snacks, the run down on everything offered & they even offered a wake up call (didn't know that was still done). The decor is fresh and eye-pleasing. There were no odd odors & the room was clean. The dreaded time to pop food/drinks into the never quite cold, might get food poisoning fridge was now here... but, wait, what's this... a COLD fridge with a freezer. Booyah! Next is the challenge of sleeping, while the beds are usually comfy enough, this chain notoriously has no sound proofing & we wake regularly to doos slamming, people taking in the halls & the upstairs room where there always seems to be some sort of Olympic tumbling practice between 1-4am. In we go - comfy bed, check. Asleep within minutes, check. Wake up to noise, yup... our alarm... wait, what?! We slept through the night. No noise, no crazy temp swings... win! Down to breakfast- we usually skip this, but today we needed to get on the road fast. Assuming d/t covid precautions, breakfast is served by staff - today was fried eggs with choice of bread, along with standard continental selection. They aren't stingy &, while not cooked to order, the eggs are real eggs. Think a visit to grandma's house... they were pretty sure we needed more food & pushed, but in a friendly way. "You only had one egg, they aren't very big. You want another? Maybe some cereal? At least take a muffin!" We loved this gal! To the room for coffee thanks to the cold fridge, my milk was still safe for human consumption & the coffee offered in room was also real & there was plenty of it. Yes, drinkable hotel coffee. An actual cold fridge in a clean room with a comfy bed, accurate climate control, sound-proofing & they have great staff - bonus for a fast breakfast & coffee - meaning we were on the road straight away & good to go tol lunch. Yeah, this one is a win.

The Grand Stay is a smallish midwestern chain and there happened to be on in town so I grabbed a room for a few nights Small but nice lobby greets you as you walk in and the attentive fellow behind the desk got me squared away with a room in short order. I was up on the third floor so hopped the elevators and headed up. Elevator arrived and operated in the normal amount of time - so all good. Room was nicely appointed and clean. Bathroom was good sized, well lit and functional. Hot water was hot. There is a large indoor pool available, but I did not have the time to do anything there. They offer a free breakfast in the morning but to be honest, it was very basic. Coffee was decent however. The building is situated on the edge of a strip mall and there is an Italian sports bar there if you feel the need to grab something to eat and watch the game. Parking lot was a bit small and cramped, but got the job done. Overall a solid 3-star hotel and I would stay here again if in the area.

We come here a few times a year and have had birthday parties for our daughters there. It's priced fairly as well! We felt like we were family by the time we left! They provide a bigger than normal continental breakfast with waffles, variety of donuts and mini muffins along with a hot meal option from eggs to bacon and sausage to biscuits and gravy. Definitely nice to have some options. The cleaning staff are very nice and always willing to help! Definitely recommend this hotel if you have to stay for an extended period of time or just a night!!
