    An abundance of dart boards
    Tom H.

Nice bar and grill. Laid back atmosphere, pool table, over a dozen electronic dart boards, juke box. They had an area obviously intended for live bands to set up. The food is good and reasonably priced. I had the Blue Streak burger, my wife had the fish dinner and a bowl of the potato soup. All were delicious! We will definitely be coming back. Update: Went back and tried their pizza, it was quite good. Very cheesy with a nice, tangy sauce. Update #2: $0.50 tacos on Mondays (4 taco minimum)!

This was a suggested place by my cousin. We went because it was 25 cent per wing with cheap drinks options so we had the spicy garlic, mambo, teriyaki. All the wings very salty, the only sauce I could really taste the flavor of was the mambo. The blue cheese was sweet. Ugh. The service was good. The live music was really good. Not somewhere I would go out of my way to check out again but decent for the prices.

    Hmmmm...specials by day!

Everywhere you look there's something to check out--from vintage beer advertisements and walls lined with memorabilia to arcade games, giant Jenga, comfy lounge seating, and a patio out back. It's the kind of place where you can easily lose track of time. Marcus took great care of me and proudly informed me his homemade ranch was life-changing...and after trying it, I can't really argue. The pizza was exactly what we were hoping for--hot, cheesy, and delicious--but honestly, the atmosphere is what keeps bringing this place back to mind. They always seem to have something going on too, with trivia, karaoke, poker, Singo, live music, and other weekly events, so it's worth checking the calendar before you go. Whether you're meeting friends for dinner, grabbing a drink after work, or looking for somewhere to spend a few hours, Barringer's is an easy recommendation. We'll definitely be back.

What a great place, busy but not too busy to say hello as we walked in. Our friends were already seated and our waitress was asking us for a drink order as soon as we sat down. Yea The place was packed with all kinds of people, construction workers, business people everyone was polite and welcoming from staff to customers The place doesn't look real great on the outside but the minute you walk in you know you are in the right place. Old pictures, old stuff everywhere you could spend a day just looking at Indianapolis in the past. The food was served hot and delicious. I had a 1/4 pound chili dog, my husband had a double burger patties were fresh and big. My friend had steak tips, tuff but sauce served in was delicious and lastly my friend had a tenderloin and slaw. The slaw look like a dinner salad it was so big. We talked for over 2 hours and were never interrupted. Would I go back, you betcha

I've helped a little bit with a few of their events, but I'm just some concerned queer who got livid when he heard about this, and I thought that implying I'm with a group would make my words carry more weight. Stupid, and I make exactly one apology: for lying about my affiliation, I'm sorry. The organization has also asked me not to abut Shelby Street Tavern's reply to my review on Google, and I have grudgingly agreed. However, the post stays. I will notate my deception, and will also remove the needlessly rude section at the end, but the rest stands. ORIGINAL POST, EDITED AS EXPLAINED ABOVE: This is honestly a great bar, mostly, hence the 5-stars for Food, Service, and Atmosphere. I was initially glad my organization [NOTE: THIS IS A LIE, SEE ABOVE] chose to patronize this place. But that appreciation ended last night when bar management decided that keeping things quiet was more important than dealing with an assault and battery that happened at the bar. If the genders and races in the situation had been reversed, my friend would still be in jail right now, while the harasser in this situation got to finish out their night feeling good about getting away with what they've done. Someone reserving your bar for an event does not magically get the right to assault and batter someone. Never mind that the person doing the A&B has a history of harassing the person they chased out of the bar... [NOTE: FINAL PARAGRAPH REMOVED FOR BEING UNNECESSARILY RUDE]

While the space is small, the energy inside is huge. I recommend taking a group of people and splitting the whole chicken dinner. It fed 3 of us plus leftovers. Their fry platter is also top tier. It's not often that I find myself on this side of town these days, however, I arrived at Duke's…read moreIndy to participate in a fundraising event. It gave me an opportunity to check out a venue I'd always wanted to check out. Duke's is a honky-tonk (think Waylon not Wallen), an intimate yet wonderfully decorated bar located in what was formerly known as Ice House Bar. Duke's has live music nearly every night - if it's not actually music, it's some other type of event. The venue is relatively small with about a max of 60 in the main room and a side space that could probably fit 20-25 more. The main room has mostly 4-top tables with a bar area available. The side space seems to be mostly high-top tables. Duke's has a lunch and dinner menu. While it may seem weird for a honky-tonk, Duke's actually has a rather extensive vegan menu. They are well known for their fried chicken, however, the menu actually has a variety of bar food ranging from burgers to tenderloin to appetizers to a bunch of other items. The vegan menu is also surprisingly extensive. Duke's has a full bar. I was pleased that they do have unsweetened iced tea. I ordered the chicken - which came with a chicken breast and a wing. It was nicely seasoned and quite delicious. In terms of accessibility (which was relevant since I'm a wheelchair user and one of the acts was using a motorized chair), Duke's has made some definite efforts toward accessibility (this is an older building with limits). There's a ramp offering accessibility in the back (and there is parking in the back). This is a very working class/industrial area, but everything felt safe to me and I had no issues. The ramp has a side rail you can hold on to if needed. I was able to use the ramp without much difficulty. The dining area is easily accessible other than the side area with high-tops (it's accessible, but the tables are higher). It looked like they had 3-4 bathrooms with all being single user. The first one I tried wasn't wheelchair friendly, however, the second one worked quite nicely and did have bars. Duke's had brought in a ramp - an impressive gesture. They stated it was something they'd been wanting to do and today offered the opportunity. It wasn't perfect, however, when you're disabled you get so used to lack of access that when someone genuinely tries you tend to give them the benefit of the doubt. I sure did. Employees were super friendly throughout the event and I got the opportunity to meet the owner for the event (which was comedy). Overall, this was an excellent experience. They have their concert schedule on their website along with their menu. This is a lovely little honky-tonk and I really enjoyed my time here. I almost stayed for tonight's concert (I actually knew her music), however, after being there all afternoon I was tired. That said, I'll no doubt return.
